Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCompare NAND flash manufacturers on a dated, like-for-like basis—not by a single market-share ranking or a headline company profit. First identify what each market-share figure measures and who is included; then test whether financial, production, technology and end-market disclosures are comparable. Only after that should you assess balance-sheet resilience and valuation. Available figures illustrate why those distinctions matter, but they do not establish a current best stock.
Start by defining what you are comparing
NAND flash is non-volatile, rewritable semiconductor storage. Micron’s FY2025 Form 10-K describes NAND as storage that can offer high capacity and low cost with varying performance characteristics. For an investor, the important point is that “NAND manufacturer” can mean a company that designs and sells NAND products, a corporate group that includes multiple storage businesses, or a business with production tied to a joint venture. Those are not automatically equivalent units for comparing market position or financial returns.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Choose the comparison unit before collecting figures. You might compare listed corporate groups as investments, NAND businesses as operating units, or suppliers’ products as technology competitors. A corporate group’s consolidated revenue and profit answer a different question from the revenue and margin of its NAND operation. A product roadmap answers a different question again: it says what the company plans or has begun producing, not what return an investor should expect.
A sound comparison keeps five labels attached to every number: the reporting period, the metric, the source or provider, the company or group attribution, and whether the figure is an estimate or a reported result. If one of those is missing, treat the figure as an incomplete data point rather than a ranking.

Read market share as a dated estimate, not a permanent league table
Market share can be reported by revenue, bits shipped, or production capacity. These measures answer different questions. Revenue share reflects sales value in the period and can move with prices and product mix. Bit shipments measure delivered storage volume. Capacity describes the ability to produce, not necessarily what was made or sold. Do not place values from different measures in one ranking.
Winbond’s 1Q26 investor conference presentation reproduces Omdia Mobile and Embedded Memory Market Tracker estimates for 2025 NAND revenue share and labels the NAND market revenue as USD 72.9 billion. The figures are:
| Company or group as labeled in the estimate | 2025 NAND revenue share | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung | 30% | Omdia Mobile and Embedded Memory Market Tracker, 1Q26, reproduced in Winbond’s 1Q26 investor presentation |
| SK hynix | 20% | Same Omdia 2025 estimate; do not assume its attribution matches other providers’ definitions |
| Kioxia | 15% | Same Omdia 2025 estimate |
| Micron | 13% | Same Omdia 2025 estimate |
| SanDisk | 12% | Same Omdia 2025 estimate; separate from IDC’s pre-2025 attribution note |
| YMTC | 9% | Same Omdia 2025 estimate |
The six rounded shares total 99%, not 100%; do not “correct” any individual number to force the table to sum to 100%. The presentation’s stated market size and shares are an attributed estimate for 2025, not a verified current share for every subsequent quarter. Preserve the provider and period when citing or using the figures.

A separate 2026 SEC-filed amendment quotes IDC as saying that five companies accounted for more than 90% of NAND revenue share in 1Q26. That is a concentration statement, not a second version of the six-company Omdia table. The filing notes that SK hynix figures include Solidigm and that SanDisk figures before 2025 are Western Digital figures. Because the periods and attribution conventions differ, do not splice the two series together to claim a trend or calculate an apparent gain or loss.
When you encounter a market-share chart, check whether it states the provider, period, metric, and treatment of subsidiaries, acquired businesses or joint ventures. If it does not, look for the underlying filing or methodology before using it. In particular, a higher revenue share does not by itself show higher profitability, stronger manufacturing economics, or a more attractive share price.

Separate NAND economics from company-wide financial results
Revenue, gross margin, operating contribution, capital spending and free cash flow help determine whether a manufacturer converts its position into financial returns. The challenge is that public disclosures may report the whole company rather than a comparable NAND segment. Never label a consolidated result as NAND profit.
SK hynix reported FY2025 consolidated revenue of 97.1467 trillion won, operating profit of 47.2063 trillion won and net profit of 42.9479 trillion won in its January 28, 2026 financial-results release. These are company-wide figures. They cannot be treated as NAND revenue or NAND operating margin, and a comparison against another company’s NAND segment would mix unlike measures.
For each company, look for NAND-specific revenue and operating contribution for the same fiscal period. If a company does not disclose those figures, record that the segment value is not stated in the cited material rather than estimating it from consolidated totals. A missing comparable number is a limitation on the conclusion, not permission to fill a table cell with a proxy.
Build a financial comparison with consistent periods
- Use the same fiscal year or quarter across peers, and label fiscal rather than calendar years where applicable.
- Keep currency and accounting scope visible. Do not compare one group’s consolidated profit with another group’s NAND-only result.
- Separate sales from profitability. Revenue share alone says nothing definitive about margin or return on invested capital.
- Track capital spending and free cash flow alongside operating results where each company reports comparable values. A production expansion may require substantial investment, but the amount and timing must come from the company’s own period-specific disclosures.
- Check whether a reported change reflects volume, price, product mix, costs, or a change in corporate attribution. If the source does not establish the driver, describe it as unexplained rather than assigning a cause.
Compare technology claims by production status and evidence
Technology matters because NAND generations and cell types can affect density, performance, endurance and manufacturing economics. Micron’s FY2025 filing says TLC and QLC NAND have varying storage density, performance and endurance. That establishes relevant dimensions to investigate; it does not provide a complete cross-company product comparison or prove that one cell type is better for every workload.
Layer-count announcements are particularly easy to overread. A roadmap milestone is not the same as volume production; volume production is not the same as a qualified customer product; and neither alone establishes superior yield, cost per bit, performance or profitability. Compare the stage reached, the date, and the evidence supplied rather than treating a single layer count as a universal technical score.

What the available company statements establish
- Micron: Its FY2025 Form 10-K says volume production of G9 NAND began in 2024, and that G8 and G9 accounted for the majority of its NAND bit production in FY2025. Those statements describe Micron’s production status and mix for the stated periods; they are not a peer yield or cost comparison.
- SK hynix: Its FY2025 results release said the company planned to transition to 321-layer NAND. “Planned” describes an intended transition, not evidence in that release that the node had reached volume production or customer qualification.
- Solidigm: The same SK hynix release cited Solidigm QLC enterprise SSDs as part of its data-center strategy. This is a company statement about product positioning, not independently measured performance or a NAND-specific financial result.
For an investment comparison, ask whether a claimed advance has reached volume production, whether customers have qualified products, and whether comparable sources disclose yield, cost per bit, capacity, performance and endurance. The available statements above do not supply a harmonized dataset for those measures, so they do not support a blanket technical ranking.

Map end markets instead of treating NAND as one product
NAND manufacturers sell into markets with different product requirements and demand patterns. Micron’s FY2025 filing identifies data-center, client PC, consumer and automotive SSDs, removable storage, and managed NAND for mobile and embedded markets. Use those categories to examine a company’s exposure, but do not assume that the mix is identical across suppliers or that a broad category implies a particular margin.
Look for reported revenue or shipment exposure by market, product, or customer type where available. Enterprise SSD, client, mobile, automotive and removable-storage exposure can help explain strategic positioning, but a company’s product list is not a sales mix. If a disclosure merely names markets served, record presence—not market share or economic contribution.
- Data center and enterprise SSDs: Check for product and customer qualification evidence, as well as disclosed contribution, rather than relying only on an announced strategy.
- Client and consumer products: Distinguish NAND components from finished storage products when reading company financials or product claims.
- Mobile and embedded markets: Managed NAND is a product category identified in Micron’s filing; compare like product categories rather than equating it directly with a raw NAND wafer or SSD.
- Automotive: Treat automotive exposure as a distinct market only when company disclosures support it; the existence of automotive products does not establish a quantified revenue share.
Account for corporate groups and joint ventures
Market-share attribution can change the apparent peer set. IDC’s 1Q26 statement, as quoted in the 2026 SEC-filed amendment, includes Solidigm with SK hynix. It also maps SanDisk figures before 2025 to Western Digital. Those notes matter if you are comparing periods or matching market data to reported financial statements: use the same corporate perimeter for both sides of the comparison.
Kioxia has a manufacturing joint venture with SanDisk. Kioxia’s 2025 offering document describes NAND participants and the Kioxia–SanDisk joint venture’s production accounting. That makes attribution worth checking before treating a reported manufacturing or market figure as wholly belonging to one company. The fact of a joint venture does not, by itself, tell you how a particular market-share provider allocates output or revenue; use the provider’s stated basis and the companies’ filings.

For every group with subsidiaries, acquired brands or shared manufacturing, keep two views separate: the company’s reported financial consolidation and the market provider’s allocation. A name on a share chart is not necessarily the same unit as a listed parent in a financial statement. If you cannot reconcile the units, flag the comparison as non-comparable instead of implying precision.

Capacity, utilization, bits shipped and capital spending can help explain whether a supplier is expanding output, using its installed base, or funding a transition. They are also easy to misuse. Announced capacity is not output; output is not shipped product; shipments are not revenue; and a capital-spending total may cover more than NAND. Confirm each metric’s scope and period before drawing an operating conclusion.
A useful peer worksheet has separate columns for production capacity, utilization, bits shipped, capital expenditure, node or layer status, and product mix. Fill a cell only with a figure that a company or named provider actually reports for a defined period and scope. If a number is not disclosed or cannot be reconciled with peers, mark it as not stated and let that absence constrain the conclusion.
Manufacturing economics should ultimately connect to cost per bit, yields, product mix and pricing, but the sources summarized here do not provide a consistent cross-company series for those variables. Do not infer that a newer layer count, more capacity, or a larger share necessarily means lower costs or higher returns.

Evaluate financial resilience and valuation separately
A strong operating position and an attractive investment price are different questions. For resilience, examine balance-sheet strength, cash generation, debt obligations and capital allocation in comparable filings. For valuation, use a synchronized share-price date and consistent earnings or cash-flow assumptions. The available figures do not provide current stock prices, a harmonized peer forecast set, or a defined valuation method, so they cannot settle which security is most attractive now.
Best Value
Do not turn a high company-wide operating profit into an implied NAND valuation without segment economics. Likewise, avoid comparing price-to-earnings ratios calculated from different reporting periods or adjusted earnings definitions. Write down the share-price date, financial period, forecast source and valuation approach before comparing multiples. If those inputs differ, the output is not a clean peer comparison.
Valuation should be the last stage, not a substitute for operating analysis. A market-share estimate can frame competitive position; it cannot establish what a company is worth. A roadmap can frame future execution potential; it cannot confirm that an assumed future profit will arrive.
A practical step-by-step comparison process
- Set the question. Decide whether the goal is to compare corporate-group investments, NAND segment performance, production execution or product competitiveness. Keep those conclusions distinct.
- Choose a cutoff date and peer set. List companies and relevant subsidiaries or joint ventures, then use sources available by the same cutoff. Note geographic or listing considerations separately if they affect the securities you can assess.
- Collect market-share data by series. For each figure, record metric, provider, period, group attribution and estimate status. Keep Omdia’s 2025 revenue-share series separate from IDC’s 1Q26 concentration statement.
- Reconcile reported financials. Compare the same fiscal period and reporting scope. Enter NAND-specific figures only when disclosed as such; keep consolidated company totals in a separate section.
- Record production and roadmap evidence. Label each milestone as announced, planned, volume production, or customer-qualified only when the source supports that status. Note dates and avoid cross-company technical rankings without comparable operating data.
- Map end markets and manufacturing arrangements. Distinguish products sold from actual revenue mix, and make the treatment of group subsidiaries and joint ventures explicit.
- Assess resilience. Review balance sheet, cash flow and capital allocation using comparable company filings, not an isolated profit headline.
- Value only after the operating picture is clear. Synchronize price date and assumptions. If current prices and comparable estimates are missing, leave the investment conclusion unresolved rather than guessing.
What the available figures can—and cannot—tell an investor
The Omdia figures reproduced by Winbond provide a dated 2025 view of NAND revenue-share estimates; the IDC statement provides a separate 1Q26 concentration observation with explicit group-attribution notes. Micron’s filing supplies production and end-market details for Micron, while SK hynix’s release supplies company-wide financial results and stated roadmap or product-strategy information. Kioxia’s investor materials and offering document are relevant to its reporting and joint-venture context.
Together, these sources support a disciplined comparison framework, not a current stock pick. They do not form a harmonized peer table of NAND segment margins, cost per bit, yields, capital intensity, cash flow and valuation. The responsible conclusion is to use each source for the question it actually answers and leave unresolved comparisons unresolved until comparable evidence is available.
