Compare Amazon.in search results with competitor product pages by capturing them under the same documented conditions, matching genuinely similar products, and recording what each screenshot actually shows: product identity, title, main image, displayed price, promotion, delivery or availability text, and capture time. A screenshot is evidence of one view at one moment—not a universal ranking or price claim.
Why the capture conditions matter
Search-result and product-page screenshots preserve a view of Amazon.in at a particular time. To make a comparison useful later, record the exact search query, marketplace, capture date and time with timezone, delivery PIN code if set, device or browser viewport, and sign-in state if known. These are documentation controls, not claims about Amazon policy or guarantees that results will be identical across sessions.

A practical capture note
Use a consistent note or filename, for example: amazon-in_query-running-shoes_2026-10-04_1430-IST_PIN-560001_desktop_signed-in.png. Replace example values with the actual query, timestamp, PIN code and session status. If a detail is unknown, say so rather than guessing.

How to compare search results with product pages
- Fix the comparison conditions. Open Amazon.in, run the exact query, and note the marketplace, timestamp and timezone, delivery PIN code if set, viewport or device, and sign-in state where known.
- Capture the results page. Keep the query visible and capture the relevant result positions with enough context to identify each listing. Record the product or ASIN when visible.
- Open each relevant competitor page. Capture the product identity and offer details close in time to the search-page capture. Save the URL or product identifier with the screenshot.
- Match products before comparing offers. Check brand, model, size, pack quantity, variant, and other attributes that determine whether the items are meaningfully comparable. Amazon Seller Central’s research guidance calls out competitor number, size, selection, pricing, and promotions as useful dimensions for planning offers (Amazon Seller Central India: Using Research).
- Enter observations separately from conclusions. Record visible text and figures as shown. Only conclude that one offer is cheaper after checking comparable variant and quantity, shipping or delivery charges, and promotion terms.
Build a comparison table
Use one row per genuinely comparable product. The fields below keep search placement, product presentation and offer terms distinct. Write “unavailable” for fields the screenshot does not establish.

Separate price observations from price judgments
Write “the screenshot showed ₹X at 14:30 IST” rather than “the product costs ₹X.” The latter can overstate what a single capture proves. A fair comparison checks the same variant and quantity, delivery or shipping charges, and promotion eligibility and terms.

Reference-price labels also need care. Amazon Seller Central India describes Was Price as using the median price paid by customers over 90 days; that is Amazon’s definition, not an independent measure of a competitor’s normal price. Its reference-pricing announcements give dated rules: List Price validation changes were stated to take effect April 23, 2026, and Typical Price calculation changes May 18, 2026. Use Seller Central when you have seller access
Public screenshots show visible presentation; seller dashboards can add query- or product-level context. Amazon Seller Central’s Search Query Details dashboard announcement describes comparing ASIN details for a query and selecting weekly, monthly or quarterly reporting ranges, with a score based on impressions, clicks, cart additions and purchases. Choose a reporting window that matches the question and label it in your analysis; dashboard reporting is not the same observation as a screenshot (Amazon Seller Central India: Search Query Details dashboard).

Amazon’s Similar Product dashboard announcement says sellers can compare and track prices for up to five similar products. Check the live Seller Central account for current availability and interface details, then note the products and period used (Amazon Seller Central India: Similar Product dashboard).
Repeat the comparison without losing context
For a later comparison, repeat the same documented controls and capture the results page and product pages close together. Mark any change in query, date, timezone, location, device, session state, product availability or offer. If a condition differs, treat the new capture as a different observation rather than silently merging it into the old comparison. The available guidance does not establish an official control set for personalization or the effect of sign-in state and location on organic Amazon.in results, so describe these as recorded conditions—not explanations for ranking differences.
