What’s actually slowing this PC down?

To cluster Path of Titans servers, run at least two dedicated community servers, give each one a unique ServerGUID and reachable port, and launch every member with -Database=Remote under the same Alderon Games account. That shared Remote database is Alderon’s server-hiving system: players can move between linked servers while keeping their cross-server character data.
Clustering is not matchmaking with official servers. It is an operator-managed group of community servers whose persistence is shared deliberately. The reliable setup is therefore a combination of compatible server builds, correct identity and networking, one shared Remote account, coordinated settings, and a tested recovery plan.

What a Path of Titans cluster actually is
A cluster is two or more dedicated community servers connected through Alderon’s server hiving feature. Each process remains a separate server in the server list, with its own name, map, port, administrators, rules, mods and gameplay settings. The link is the persistence layer: all members use the same Remote database, allowing a player’s character save to be available after moving from one member server to another.
Alderon describes server hiving as a way to link multiple servers into a shared database of player data. That means the cluster is created by server configuration, not by putting several maps behind one address or by changing an official-server setting. Players still select and join individual community-server entries.

What is shared
- Character data stored in the shared Remote database.
- The ability to leave one linked member and continue on another member with the expected character save.
What remains separate
- The dedicated-server processes and their network ports.
- Server names, maps, rules, administrator assignments, mods and gameplay settings.
- Operational tasks such as updates, restarts, logs, firewall rules and machine resources.
Because those choices remain per server, a technically linked cluster can still feel disjointed. If the intended experience is continuous, publish a common rule set and coordinate maps, mods, progression expectations and restart schedules.
Requirements before you build
- Alderon account ownership: Authenticate AlderonGamesCmd and every PathOfTitansServer process with an Alderon account that owns the game. Servers using
-Database=Remotemust use the same account. - Dedicated server software: Alderon provides server files for Windows, macOS and Linux through AlderonGamesCmd. The documented game identifier is
path-of-titans. - Compatible builds: Keep every cluster member on a compatible production server build. Use another branch only when you have a specific, documented reason and can keep all members compatible.
- Distinct identities: Every member needs its own UUIDv4-style
ServerGUID. Never copy a GUID from one member to another. - Distinct, reachable ports: Each process needs its own game port. The setup guide’s example uses
-Port=7777; a second member must use another available port. - Network access: Configure the host firewall, router or NAT, and any protection or relay layer so the advertised address and port can be reached by players.
- Operational storage: Reserve disk space for server files, logs and your backup plan. Remote persistence reduces dependence on one local server folder, but it does not remove the need to plan recovery.
Choose self-hosting or a managed game-server provider
Alderon allows community owners to self-host or use a Game Server Provider (GSP). Self-hosting gives you direct control but requires the dedicated software, a suitable machine and network configuration. A GSP handles more of that infrastructure in exchange for a recurring fee. Whichever route you choose, verify that the host explicitly supports Alderon’s Remote database and server-hiving workflow before committing.
For a managed option, Godlike.Host offers Path of Titans game-server hosting with a Pterodactyl-based game panel, up to three free backups a day, and SFTP/FTP access; verify that it supports Alderon’s Remote database and linked-member workflow before committing. Not on Alderon Games’ list of Path of Titans server providers (alderongames.com, 11 Oct 2026).

Build the cluster step by step
1. Select the host and map the topology
Decide how many members you need, where they will run and what each one is for. A simple design might give members different maps or rules while keeping one common identity for the cluster. Write down, for each member, its server name, machine, internal address, public address, port, GUID, map, mods and planned restart window.
Do not assume that putting several processes on one computer makes them one server. They are still separate members and must have separate GUIDs and ports. Check CPU, memory, disk and bandwidth capacity before adding another process.
2. Install AlderonGamesCmd and download the files
Download the AlderonGamesCmd build for Windows, macOS or Linux using Alderon’s official setup instructions. Select the production branch unless you have a documented compatibility reason to use another branch, and use the path-of-titans game identifier. Install the files for each member in a clearly separated directory or use a management layout that keeps configuration and logs unambiguous.
Every member must run a compatible server build. When updating, update the members deliberately rather than allowing one process to run an incompatible version while players move between it and the rest of the cluster.
3. Authenticate every server with one Alderon account
Authenticate AlderonGamesCmd and PathOfTitansServer with the Alderon account that owns the game. For Remote hiving, use that same account for every member. A different account on one process breaks the identity requirement for the shared database even if the ports and GUIDs are correct.
Protect authentication tokens and account credentials as production secrets. If a token expires or is revoked, the affected process can fail to connect even though its local files and command-line options look correct.
4. Generate a unique GUID for each member
Create a different UUIDv4-style value for every server and assign it as that member’s ServerGUID. Treat the value as a permanent server identity: do not clone a complete server directory and leave its GUID unchanged, and do not reuse a retired member’s identity while another copy may still exist.
Keep a written inventory of the mapping between member name and GUID. This makes incident response safer when you rotate machines, restore files or add a new member.
5. Assign ports and make them reachable
Give each member a distinct game port. The documented example uses -Port=7777; choose another free port for every additional process. Open the corresponding port in the host firewall and forward it through the router or NAT to the correct machine and process. If a relay, firewall or DDoS-protection service presents a different public address, configure the documented -ServerListIP option so the server list advertises the address players can actually reach.

Record the complete external address-and-port pair for every member. A server can start successfully and still be invisible or unreachable when the forwarding rule targets the wrong host, the firewall allows only local traffic, or the advertised address is not the public endpoint.
6. Launch every member in Remote mode
Start each process with Remote persistence and its own identity and port. The launch shape is:
PathOfTitansServer -Database=Remote -Port=7777 -ServerGUID=<member-a-uuid>
For another member, change both the port and GUID:
PathOfTitansServer -Database=Remote -Port=<member-b-port> -ServerGUID=<member-b-uuid>
Add -ServerListIP=<reachable-address> when your network design requires a relay, firewall or DDoS-protection address. Use the exact executable and other arguments from Alderon’s current setup documentation for your operating system; the critical hiving requirements are the shared Remote mode, the same Alderon account, a unique GUID and a reachable port.
Recommended Free Tools
-Database=Remote is the persistence switch that makes the members share player data. Alderon recommends Remote for multiple servers because it shares data and helps reduce the risk of losing that data if one server folder is removed.
7. Configure names, roles and community settings
Give each member a distinct, understandable name that shows its relationship to the cluster. Include the map or role in the name when that helps players choose correctly. Publish the cluster’s rules and explain whether characters can move between members freely, whether maps rotate, and whether a mod or setting differs on one member.
Community-server controls remain configurable per server. Align rules, administrator behavior, mods and gameplay settings when players are expected to treat the members as one continuous world. If one member has a different ruleset, label that difference prominently instead of relying on players to discover it after joining.

8. Test character persistence before inviting players
- Start all intended members and confirm that each process authenticates successfully.
- Join member A from a test account, create or update a character, and leave through a normal in-game exit.
- Allow the server to finish saving, then join member B with the same account.
- Verify that the expected character data appears and that the player can continue without creating a separate replacement character.
- Review logs and database access if the result is unexpected; do not repeatedly make changes while a save or migration is still in progress.
This is an operator acceptance test, not a substitute for monitoring. Repeat it after a server-file update, a database or host migration, a major mod change, or a restoration.
Operate the cluster safely
Backups and restore drills
Remote mode is shared state, not a backup policy. Establish a backup schedule, retain copies separately from the live server machines, and document who can restore them. Test a restore on an isolated environment so you know which files, credentials and configuration values are required before an outage occurs.
Avoid unsupported simultaneous manipulation of the shared database. Do not edit or restore one member’s data while another member is actively writing to the same persistence layer unless Alderon’s current documentation explicitly supports that procedure.
Updates and restart planning
Track the server build of every member and update them in a controlled maintenance window. Alderon documents automated restart settings, but AlderonGamesCmd does not currently update itself. Include the command-line utility in your maintenance checklist, and verify that it remains current before applying server updates.
Announce planned restarts, allow players to leave safely, and bring members back in a known order. After a restart, check authentication, database connectivity, port reachability and the server list before declaring the cluster available.
Monitoring checklist
- Process health and unexpected exits for every member.
- Authentication-token validity and Alderon account access.
- CPU, memory, disk space and log growth on each host.
- Firewall, NAT and advertised-address reachability.
- Remote database connection and successful character-save behavior.
- Version consistency after every update.
- Backup completion and the ability to restore.
- Mod and configuration changes that could make one member behave differently.
Troubleshoot the failures that matter most
The server does not appear or players cannot join
- Confirm the process is running and listening on the intended port.
- Check that the host firewall allows the game traffic.
- Verify router or NAT forwarding points to the correct machine and internal port.
- Check that the server list advertises the correct public address. Use
-ServerListIPwhen a relay, firewall or protection layer changes the reachable address. - Make sure no second member is attempting to use the same port.
A character is missing on the second member
- Confirm both processes use
-Database=Remote, not separate local persistence. - Confirm both processes authenticate with the same Alderon account.
- Check that the first session ended safely and had time to save.
- Inspect logs for authentication or database-connection errors before attempting another migration.
- Do not create replacement characters until you understand whether the original save is delayed or the members are pointed at different persistence settings.
Two members behave as though they are the same server
Check the GUID inventory first. A copied or reused ServerGUID can make identities ambiguous. Assign a genuinely unique UUIDv4-style value to each member, stop the affected processes, and restart them with the corrected configuration according to Alderon’s current guidance.
Best Value
One member has different gameplay or mod behavior
Remote hiving shares player data; it does not automatically synchronize maps, mods, rules or administrator settings. Compare the affected member’s configuration with the cluster standard, document intentional differences in the server name and description, and confirm that every mod is compatible with the server build.
Updates fail or members run different versions
Check the AlderonGamesCmd installation, selected branch and path-of-titans identifier. Update the utility and server files through the documented process, then verify the build of every member before reopening the cluster. Remember that the utility does not currently update itself automatically.
Hosting limits and the current roadmap
Alderon’s May 2026 development update says that self-hosting currently requires downloading the dedicated server software, running a dedicated server on your own machine, forwarding ports and handling other networking tasks that can be complex for an average player. That is why a managed provider can be attractive when you do not want to operate the infrastructure yourself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe same update says NAT punch-through and invite-based hosting are being developed with cross-play goals. Treat those as roadmap work, not as the current production method for clustering. Today’s dependable workflow remains dedicated server software plus reachable network endpoints, whether those endpoints are self-hosted or supplied by a GSP.
Rules, administration and player communication
Community servers must follow Alderon’s Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement. Owners may assign administrators, set rules and install mods, but those controls operate within Alderon’s agreements. Publish moderation contacts and escalation rules, and keep administrator access limited to trusted operators.
Tell players exactly what the cluster promises: which servers are linked, what data follows them, which maps or rules differ, when restarts occur, and where outages are announced. Clear communication prevents players from mistaking a deliberate per-server difference for a broken hiving setup.
