That removes Chrome’s visited-page list; it does not automatically clear Google Account activity or YouTube history, which have separate controls.
Choose which history to delete
“History” can mean several different records. Use this guide to choose the relevant control before deleting anything:

Clear all available Chrome browsing history
- Open Chrome on your Android phone or tablet.
- Tap More (three dots) > Delete browsing data. The menu may appear at the top or, when Chrome’s address bar is at the bottom, after swiping up on that bar.
- Choose All time to delete the full available range, or select a narrower time range.
- Select Browsing history. If you only want to remove the visited-page list, leave Cookies and site data and Cached images and files unchecked.
- Tap Delete data and confirm if prompted.
Google Chrome Help says Chrome’s History list covers pages visited in the last 90 days; that describes the list, not a retention guarantee for every Google system. The same help page says deletion also removes history from devices where you are signed in to Chrome and have history sync enabled: Google’s Android Chrome history instructions.
Delete selected Chrome entries instead
- In Chrome, tap More > History.
- Find the page and tap Remove beside it.
- To remove several entries, touch and hold one entry, select the others, then tap Remove.
Clear activity saved to your Google Account
Deleting Chrome’s local or synced browsing history is not the same as deleting activity saved to your Google Account. Account activity can include Search-related activity, Chrome history and activity from sites, apps, and devices using Google services, and YouTube History, depending on your settings.

- Open Android Settings, tap your account or name, then choose Manage your Google Account.
- Open Data & privacy and select the relevant history setting to review what is being saved and change it.
- To remove activity already saved, open My Activity, review the entries, and use its delete controls.
Google says its Search-services history controls are rolling out gradually. If the expected Search control is not shown, Web & App Activity may still govern history and personalized recommendations for Search services. Consult Google’s activity-saving controls for Android and Google’s guide to accessing and controlling account activity.
Deleting activity in My Activity does not guarantee every browser record is gone: Google notes that activity may remain in the browser and that some activity is not included in My Activity. Account deletion is a separate process, and Google says some data may be retained for limited business or legal purposes. See Google’s explanation of activity deletion.

Clear YouTube watch or search history
If you’re signed in
- Open the YouTube app and tap your profile image.
- Go to Settings > Manage all history.
- Delete individual videos or searches, or use the delete controls to choose a period.
Deleting watch history for a selected period also deletes search history for that period, and deleting search history for a period also deletes watch history for it. To stop future recording, open the Controls tab and turn off inclusion of watched videos or searches. YouTube says cleared watch history will no longer inform future recommendations, and searches you delete will no longer appear as search-box suggestions. In the YouTube app, open Settings > History & privacy to clear or pause watch history, as documented by YouTube.

Cookies and cache: clear them only if needed
In Chrome’s Delete browsing data screen, cookies and cached files are separate options from browsing history. Cookies and site data store information that can preserve site settings or sessions; clearing them may mean signing in again. Cached images and files are stored page resources; clearing them can help with loading or formatting problems, but sites may need to load those resources again. Troubleshooting
- The menu labels or position look different: Check Chrome’s three-dot More menu; with a bottom address bar, swipe up on the bar to reach it. Google may also vary account activity labels as its Search-services controls roll out.
- History remains on another device: Check whether Chrome is signed in to the same Google Account and history sync is enabled. Google says clearing synced Chrome history deletes it on signed-in devices with history sync enabled.
- Google searches remain after Chrome history is cleared: Chrome history and Google Account activity are separate. Review the account’s Data & privacy controls and My Activity.
- A site signs you out after cleanup: You likely cleared cookies or site data as well as browsing history. Use Chrome’s delete-data controls and leave those options unchecked if you only mean to remove visited pages.
- Recommendations still reflect past activity: Check and delete YouTube history separately; its controls are distinct from Chrome’s visited-page list.
