To clear Google app history, open the app’s profile menu, tap Search history, and delete a search, a date range, or all time. That removes searches saved to your Google Account. Recent searches stored on an iPhone or iPad, and pages saved in a browser’s history, require separate steps.
Choose which Google history to delete
Google activity can appear in more than one place. Use the route that matches what you want removed:

Deleting account activity does not automatically erase browser history, and Google notes that on-device app activity may remain even after My Activity entries are deleted.

Delete Google Account Search history in the app
Android
- Open the Google app.
- Tap your profile picture or initial, then tap Search history.
- Choose the search or time period to delete. Google provides options for one activity item, all activity from a day, a custom date range, or all time.
- Follow the on-screen confirmation to complete the deletion.
To stop future account activity from being saved under this control, go to Search history > Controls and turn off Web & App Activity. Google presents Turn off and Turn off and delete activity as separate options; choose the latter if you also want to delete existing activity.

iPhone and iPad
- Open the Google app and tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Search history.
- Select an individual entry or choose a deletion range, such as a day, a custom range, or all time.
- Follow the confirmation steps shown in the app.
The account history controls also let you turn off Web & App Activity, or turn it off and delete activity. Those choices affect account-saved activity, not necessarily recent searches stored on the device.
Clear recent searches stored on an iPhone or iPad
If a search still appears beneath the Google app’s search bar, clear the on-device list separately:

- Tap the search bar, then tap View all.
- Swipe left on a search and tap Delete to remove that item.
- To remove all past searches stored on the device, tap Clear all, then Clear on-device history.
Google says app activity may be saved on the device even if My Activity entries were deleted, and deleting activity in the app might not delete the corresponding My Activity entry.

For account-saved Search history on a computer, open My Activity, go to Search history, and choose the item or time period to delete. Use the controls presented there to remove an individual search or a broader range.

To remove pages visited in Chrome, clear Chrome history separately; for another browser, use that browser’s history controls. Google says visits to web pages from the Google app can also be saved in Chrome history, so deleting Google Account activity alone may not remove those browser records.
Stop future saving or set automatic deletion
Turning off a history control affects future saving under that control; it is different from deleting activity already stored. Google’s Android help lists auto-delete intervals of 3 months, 18 months, and 36 months. These are available setting choices, not a guarantee that every app or browser’s records are included.

Google is gradually rolling out updated Search services settings. The newer controls distinguish Search Services History from Personalized Recommendations; if those options are not visible, Web & App Activity may still control the relevant history. Search services include Search, Maps, Shopping, Flights, Hotels, Translate, and News. Chrome, Gemini Apps, Google Assistant, and YouTube have separate settings.
Use the labels currently displayed in your Google app or account rather than assuming every account has an identical menu. Settings can also apply across signed-in devices; when multiple accounts are active, activity may be saved to the default account. Searches made while signed out may instead be saved on the device.

What deletion does—and does not—promise
Google says Search history deletion cannot be undone. The company describes deletion as starting removal from the product and system: activity is removed from view and may stop being used for personalization before a process begins to delete it from storage systems. Google notes that limited data may be retained longer for business or legal requirements, so deletion should not be understood as instantaneous erasure from every system.
If searches remain visible after deleting account activity, check whether they are on-device suggestions or browser history. Those are separate locations with their own deletion controls.
