To clear an app’s cache on a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings > Apps, select the app, tap Storage, then tap Clear cache. This removes temporary files for that app; it is different from clearing the app’s data, which can remove saved settings and other app information.
Clear cache for one app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Choose the app you want to troubleshoot. If it is not visible, search for its name.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
Samsung’s [Galaxy phone and tablet instructions] use this per-app route. The selected app’s cached temporary files are removed; the procedure does not clear every app’s cache.

Clear cache or clear data?
Both controls may appear on an app’s Storage screen, but their effects differ. Check the label before tapping.

| Clear cache | Removes temporary data for the selected app. | As Google’s Android help notes, the app may be slower the next time it opens while it recreates temporary files. |

If your goal is only to remove temporary files, choose Clear cache, not Clear data. The cited guidance does not promise a particular performance improvement or amount of storage reclaimed.

If the Settings path looks different
Menu names and layouts can vary with Galaxy software version, device, and app. Samsung notes that its steps may differ; Google likewise says Android Settings vary by device. Search Settings for the app, open its Storage screen, and look for Clear cache. For device-specific guidance, consult the manufacturer’s support information.
Can you clear every app’s cache at once?
Samsung’s US support instructions say a factory reset is the only way to clear all app caches at once. A factory reset is a broad device reset, not a routine cache-cleaning step, so use the per-app control when you only want to clear one app’s temporary files.
