Clean the sensors and charging contacts safely
The AV2501S uses AI Laser Navigation and 360-degree LiDAR mapping, so dust or debris around its sensors may interfere with navigation. Its owner’s guide says dirty cliff sensors may work less effectively. The guide specifies a dry cloth for the robot’s underside sensors and charging contacts, and the contacts on the base.

- Stop the cleaning cycle and turn the robot off before lifting it or doing maintenance.
- Use a dry cloth to gently dust the sensors and charging contacts on the underside of the robot.
- Wipe the charging contacts on the base with the same dry cloth.
- Inspect the robot for visible hair or debris. Avoid liquids and cleaning chemicals; the guide’s cleaning instruction is to use a dry cloth.

Clean the LiDAR module
For a more thorough LiDAR clean, the owner’s guide specifies a cotton swab. Keep the robot powered off and do not force or insert the swab into openings.

- Use only gentle contact to remove visible hair or debris. Do not insert the swab into the module openings.
Match navigation symptoms to practical checks
A navigation problem does not by itself show that a sensor or LiDAR component has failed. Use any error indication as a clue and check the straightforward causes the model guide identifies.

Keep the base and robot in a consistent position
The AV2501S’s initial Explore Run identifies rooms, walls, furniture and obstacles while creating a map. The owner’s guide warns that moving the base after setup can prevent the robot from finding it and may mean a complete remap is needed. Moving the robot while it is working can also disrupt its route or its return to the base. Keep the base in its established location and let the robot complete its run without relocating it.
When to contact Shark support
If cleaning the relevant sensors and clearing an indicated wheel or brush obstruction does not resolve the problem, use Shark’s model-specific troubleshooting or contact Shark support. Shark’s general maintenance guidance is for upright vacuums, not specific AV2501S instructions, so use it only as general escalation guidance rather than as a robot-vacuum procedure. Do not infer an internal sensor or LiDAR failure from navigation symptoms alone.
