Start by finding the model number and following that fan’s Comfort Zone owner manual. The available manuals describe routine cleaning and, for some models, base assembly or removal—but they do not give a general procedure for opening the tower’s main housing. Unplug the fan before cleaning, and do not force the housing apart.
Identify your model before removing parts
Comfort Zone’s support page lists tower fans and owner manuals. Match the model number on your fan to its manual; instructions for one model do not establish where screws, clips, or fuses are on another.

For example, the CZTFR1/CZTFR1BK manual documents base assembly, including removal of preinstalled screws as part of that process. It does not say those screws release the complete tower housing. The separate CZTF329WT/CZTF329BK manual covers its own cleaning and plug-fuse instructions. Do not transfer either model’s steps to a different fan.

Clean the exterior and grille
- Disconnect the power. Unplug the fan before cleaning, as directed in the CZTFR1/CZTFR1BK owner manual.
- Clean the grille as the manual directs. That manual describes wiping it with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the fan or its wires in water.
- Let cleaned parts dry completely. Reinstall the grille before reconnecting or operating the fan.
The CZTFR1/CZTFR1BK manual states: “The motor is sealed and does not require any interior maintenance, cleaning or lubrication.” It also says the motor bearings are permanently lubricated at the factory and need no additional lubrication. These instructions apply to those models; consult your own fan’s manual for model-specific care.

Can you open the tower housing?
The manuals cited here do not provide a general full-housing disassembly sequence. They therefore do not support a universal set of screw locations or instructions for prying apart the shell. If you need to reach internal components, use a procedure from the manual for your exact model or contact Comfort Zone support rather than forcing a seam or guessing at fasteners.
When the issue is a plug fuse
The CZTF329WT/CZTF329BK owner manual includes a fuse-replacement procedure for the cover in the power plug. This is separate from opening the fan tower. Follow the instructions and fuse rating specified for your particular unit; do not assume that another model’s rating or procedure applies.

Stop if the fan is damaged or malfunctioning
The CZTFR1/CZTFR1BK manual warns: “DO NOT OPERATE THE FAN WITHOUT THE GRILLE IN PLACE.” It also says: “DO NOT USE THE FAN IF IT HAS MALFUNCTIONED OR BECOME DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.” If the fan is damaged or not working correctly, leave it unplugged and follow the manual’s repair or service guidance instead of opening the housing.
