How to clean the Cuisinart WAF-V100C2

- Switch off and cool: Turn the temperature knob to its lowest setting, unplug the cord, and wait until the grids are completely cool. The booklet says leaving the front cover open helps the grids cool more quickly.
- Remove crumbs: Brush crumbs out of the grooves, or wipe the plates with a dry cloth or paper towel.
- Wipe the grids: If batter or oil residue has built up, use a damp cloth on the cool grids. Cuisinart recommends this to help prevent staining and sticking from residue.
- Clean the exterior: Wipe the outside with a soft, dry cloth.
For baked-on batter, put a little cooking oil directly on the batter and leave it for about five minutes to soften, then remove it gently. The manual does not call for scraping the plates.

What to avoid while cleaning
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh pads; they can damage the nonstick surface.
- Do not immerse the unit, cord, or plug in water or another liquid.
- Do not use metal utensils against the coating. To loosen a cooked waffle, the booklet permits a heatproof plastic or wooden spatula, or nonstick-coated tongs.
How to reduce sticking while making waffles
Preheat until the ready signal
Wait for the green ready light and audible signal before pouring in batter. For a golden-brown waffle, Cuisinart recommends browning setting #3, but the recipe and preferred shade affect cooking time.

Measure carefully for the vertical spout
Use the supplied measuring cup and avoid overfilling: batter expands as it cooks. The manual suggests that ¾ to 1 cup (175–250 ml) may suit this model, depending on batter thickness, and says not to fill to the top of the waffle grid. These are WAF-V100C2 instructions, not a universal amount for other waffle makers.
Pour thicker batter carefully so it can flow into the grid. Whisk out lumps; if the batter will not flow easily through the spout, Cuisinart says it is too thick. Whisk it smoother or add liquid one tablespoon at a time.

Adjust the temperature if a waffle sticks
If a waffle sticks during cooking, the WAF-V100C2 booklet advises raising the temperature slightly until the waffle releases, then returning to the preferred setting. Remove it gently with a heatproof plastic or wooden spatula, or nonstick-coated tongs—not a metal utensil.
