Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a standard organic LinkedIn link preview, use an image that is 1200 × 627 pixels, with a 1.91:1 aspect ratio. LinkedIn lists those dimensions for website sharing and Page-post previews. They are not the same as its separate specifications for paid ads.
Use 1200 × 627 pixels for an organic link preview
Design the image on a 1200-pixel-wide by 627-pixel-high canvas. LinkedIn Help identifies 1200 × 627 pixels as the minimum image dimensions for website sharing and describes a 1.91:1 preview frame. The platform’s guidance for sharing articles and links gives the same size.

LinkedIn also specifies a maximum file size of 5 MB for the website-sharing image. These are LinkedIn platform requirements, not results from an independent image test. See LinkedIn’s website-sharing requirements and its guidance on sharing articles or links.

Do not use paid-ad dimensions as the rule for an organic URL preview. LinkedIn’s single-image ad guide recommends a 1200 × 628-pixel landscape creative; its organic sharing guidance specifies 1200 × 627 pixels. The one-pixel difference reflects separate product specifications, not a reason to substitute the ad size for the organic one. Consult the single image ads specifications only when preparing an ad.

How LinkedIn displays the image
Page-post images narrower than 200 pixels
For a LinkedIn Page post preview, LinkedIn says an image must be more than 200 pixels wide to appear in the larger format. Below that width, it appears as a small thumbnail on the left. This display threshold is not an alternative recommendation to the 1200 × 627 canvas.
Mobile and other aspect ratios
LinkedIn says Page-post preview images are not cropped on mobile; images with other ratios appear in full with subtle white padding. That statement applies to the documented Page-post feature. LinkedIn does not publish a separate organic-preview safe-area measurement in the cited guidance, so keep essential text and visual details within the image canvas rather than importing safe-area rules from ad formats. See LinkedIn’s Page-post preview guidance.
Set up the page so LinkedIn can retrieve the preview
On the web page you are sharing, expose the Open Graph metadata LinkedIn expects: og:title, og:image, og:description, and og:url. The image URL must be publicly retrievable by LinkedIn. A correctly sized file may still fail to appear if the site blocks LinkedIn’s retrieval or serves it from a protected directory. LinkedIn says the link can still be posted when no preview image is available.

Check the preview before publishing
- Create the image: export it at 1200 × 627 pixels, 1.91:1, and no more than 5 MB.
- Check the page metadata: confirm the four Open Graph fields are present in the page source and that
og:imagepoints to the intended image. - Check public access: make sure the image URL does not require a login or otherwise block retrieval.
- Paste the page URL into LinkedIn: allow a few seconds for the preview to appear, as LinkedIn advises in Share articles or links.
- For a LinkedIn Page post, adjust if needed: an administrator can use the post composer’s edit controls to choose a custom image and edit the title, according to LinkedIn’s Page-post instructions.
Troubleshoot a missing or incorrect preview
- No image appears: verify the Open Graph fields and confirm LinkedIn can retrieve the image URL. A protected location or blocked retrieval can prevent display even when the image dimensions are correct.
- The image is a small thumbnail on a Page post: check its width. LinkedIn’s larger-format threshold is more than 200 pixels; use the 1200 × 627 recommendation for a standard organic preview.
- The preview has not loaded yet: wait a few seconds. If it still does not appear, LinkedIn says the link may be posted without a preview image.
- You are preparing an ad rather than an organic link post: use the separate ad specifications instead of treating 1200 × 627 as the ad rule.

If you need a screenshot of the page itself for a review or workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; its capture options include viewport and full-page screenshots. It is not a replacement for setting Open Graph metadata when the goal is LinkedIn’s link preview.
Here is the one-call cURL example, using the URL of the page you want to capture:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for the API options. Before capture, it can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
