How to Choose an Intel Arc Graphics Card for Your Games and PC

Match an Intel Arc card to your games and target resolution, then check ReBAR, boot setup, PSU requirements and the exact partner card’s fit before buying.

Choose an Intel Arc card by matching its performance in the games and settings you actually use to your target resolution—and then confirm it fits your PC. Intel’s current B-Series desktop options include the Arc B580 with 12GB of dedicated memory and the Arc B570 with 10GB, but memory capacity alone does not establish which card will run a particular game better. Independent results are tied to the games, settings and test system used.

Start with your games, resolution and settings

Write down the games you play most, the resolution you want to use, and the graphics settings you consider acceptable. Include ray tracing only if you intend to enable it. A card’s performance can vary substantially by game and settings, so look for independent tests of those titles at your target resolution rather than treating a roundup average as a guarantee.

  • For a 1080p display, compare results at 1080p and your likely quality settings.
  • For 1440p, prioritize 1440p results; 1080p figures do not answer how a card will perform at the higher resolution.
  • For ray tracing, seek tests with ray tracing enabled and settings comparable to yours.
  • Check average frame rates and 1% lows where available. The latter help show dips that can affect smoothness, though results remain specific to the test setup.

As one bounded point of reference, TechRadar’s 2026 budget-card roundup reports the B580 at 76 average / 51 1% low FPS at 1080p and 59 average / 41 1% low FPS at 1440p in its own test suite. Those figures are not predictions for every game, PC or preset. See TechRadar’s test context.

Compare the B580 and B570 using more than memory

Intel’s December 3, 2024 B-Series launch material lists these desktop specifications and US launch prices:

#1 Best Overall
ASRock Intel Arc A580 Challenger 8GB OC Graphics Card, Intel Xe HPG Architecture, 8GB GDDR6, PCIe 4.0, Dual Fans, 0dB Silent Cooling, DisplayPort 2.0
  • Next-Gen Intel Arc Graphics: Powered by Intel Arc A580 GPU with Intel Xe HPG microarchitecture, featuring 384 XMX engines for enhanced AI acceleration and content creation.
  • High-Performance Memory: 8GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit interface running at 16 Gbps, delivering excellent bandwidth for 1440p gaming and creative workloads.
  • Factory Overclocked: Engine clock set at 2000 MHz out of the box, providing optimized performance for smooth gameplay and multimedia tasks.
  • Advanced Dual-Fan Cooling: Features a dual-fan design with striped axial fans and an ultra-fit heatpipe for efficient thermal management. 0dB Silent Cooling stops fans completely at low temperatures for silent operation.
  • Durable Construction: Includes a stylish metal backplate for enhanced PCB rigidity and a premium aesthetic, backed by ASRock's Super Alloy components for long-term reliability.
Card Dedicated GPU memory US starting price at launch Availability announced at launch
Arc B580 12GB $249 December 13, 2024
Arc B570 10GB $219 January 16, 2025

The prices are historical launch starting prices, not current offers or a guide to today’s value. Check current prices and stock in your region. The B580’s larger memory capacity is one consideration, not proof of higher performance in every game. Compare independent results for both cards in the titles and settings that matter to you, then weigh the actual price difference. Intel’s B-Series launch document provides the announced specifications and launch details.

Check that your PC supports the card

Resizable BAR (ReBAR), or AMD Smart Access Memory (SAM), is an important compatibility check: Intel says it must be enabled for optimal performance in applications using B-Series graphics. Consult Intel’s desktop quick-start guide for supported configurations and setup guidance.

ASRock Intel Arc Pro B70 Creator 32GB Workstation Graphics Card, Xe2-HPG, 32GB GDDR6, PCIe 5.0, 4X DP 2.1, Blower Fan, Vapor Chamber, Honeywell PTM7950
  • System Compatibility Note: This 2-slot card measures 271 x 112 x 39 mm and requires a single 12V-2x6-pin power connector. Please verify chassis and PSU compatibility before purchase.
  • Dedicated Support: Please contact us directly through Amazon for any product questions or assistance you may require.
  • Professional Intel Arc Pro B70 GPU: Built on the Intel Xe2-HPG architecture, it features 32 Xe cores and 256 XMX engines, designed to accelerate AI, rendering, and complex visualization workloads.
  • Massive 32GB GDDR6 VRAM: Equipped with 32GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, running at 19 Gbps, which allows for handling large AI models and complex datasets locally.
  • High-Performance Engine Clock: Delivers an engine clock of 2540 MHz, providing the compute power needed for demanding professional applications and AI inference.
  1. Check motherboard and processor support. Confirm your platform supports ReBAR or SAM and that the option is available in the motherboard’s firmware.
  2. Check boot configuration. Intel’s guide advises UEFI boot with a GPT partition style and Compatibility Support Module (CSM) disabled. Review your existing system configuration before changing firmware or boot settings.
  3. Check the exact card’s power requirements. Requirements differ by model and board partner. Verify the specified PSU capacity and the PCIe power connectors required by the particular card; do not infer them from another Arc model.
  4. Check physical fit. Compare the partner card’s length, thickness and slot clearance with your case, and consider its cooling and noise characteristics.
  5. Check seller and warranty terms. Confirm the precise board-partner SKU, seller, regional offer and warranty before purchase.

For example, Intel’s guide specifies a minimum 600W PSU with one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe connector for its Arc A770 and A750 Limited Edition cards. That is an A-Series example, not a general requirement for B580, B570 or every Arc card. Use the power information for the exact card you plan to buy.

Decide whether XeSS features matter to you

Intel describes XeSS 3 as a set of gaming technologies: XeSS Super Resolution, XeSS Frame Generation—including Multi Frame Generation on Intel hardware—and Xe Low Latency. Their availability depends on hardware, graphics API and game integration; support for XeSS must be implemented in the game. Check whether the specific title supports the particular feature you want rather than assuming every Arc card or game offers the same options. These features do not guarantee a fixed frame-rate increase. Intel’s XeSS 3 developer documentation describes support and API differences, while the Arc overview lists Intel’s advertised features, including hardware ray tracing and XeSS.

Make the final choice against your priorities

Before selecting a B580, B570 or a specific partner-board version, compare the points that can change the practical value of the purchase:

  • Game performance: results for your games at your resolution and settings, including ray tracing only if relevant.
  • Total current price: the actual regional price and seller, not the historical US launch price.
  • Memory: 12GB on B580 and 10GB on B570, as stated in Intel’s launch material.
  • System readiness: ReBAR/SAM support and enablement, UEFI/GPT configuration, and the exact card’s power supply and connector needs.
  • Board fit: partner-card dimensions, cooling, noise and warranty for the precise SKU.

For a specific offer, compare the exact board-partner design rather than relying on the model name alone. Price, availability, dimensions, connectors and warranty can differ between cards sold under the same GPU model.
