There is no single best VPN for every streamer: performance depends on the service, the regional library, the VPN endpoint, the device, and when access is tested. In current reviews, Top10VPN names ExpressVPN its overall streaming pick, while TechRadar and RTINGS choose NordVPN. Treat those as publisher-specific results, not guarantees. Start with the services and countries you actually use, then verify device support, playback stability, privacy, and the full subscription cost.
Which VPN is best for streaming?
The answer depends on what you watch and where. Reviewers disagree on an overall winner because their methods and observed results differ. A service that works for one reviewer, platform, region, or test date may not work for your setup.

| Review publisher | Streaming pick or method | How to interpret the result |
|---|---|---|
| Top10VPN | Names ExpressVPN its overall pick. Its 2026 page says it tested 59 VPNs against 120 streaming services. It reports access to 115 services and 18 Netflix regional libraries for ExpressVPN in tests last run in September 2026. | These are Top10VPN’s dated test results, not a promise of access now or in the future. See Top10VPN’s methodology and results. |
| TechRadar | Names NordVPN its leading streaming pick in its 2026 review. | The review also describes service- and region-specific failures, including Prime Video and US YouTube with NordVPN and some Netflix regions with ExpressVPN. Those observations show why an overall pick is not a guarantee for an individual service. See TechRadar’s streaming review. |
| RTINGS | Names NordVPN its streaming pick in its 2026 review. | RTINGS notes that streaming services can change VPN detection frequently and that access to every region is not guaranteed indefinitely. See RTINGS’ VPN review. |
Use those rankings to make a shortlist, not to assume that a provider is universally best. Before subscribing, check whether the VPN currently works with your exact service and region, and understand the provider’s trial, refund, and cancellation terms.

It may, but access varies by platform, country, VPN endpoint, and test date. Reviewers assess services such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and Prime Video across regions; their published results are snapshots, not permanent unlock lists. Even within one platform, a VPN may work for one regional library and fail for another.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
For Netflix specifically, Security.org says its 2026 evaluation tested 15 VPNs against five countries. Its method also considered streaming resolution and loading on a 250 Mbps test network, alongside privacy policies, leaks, kill switches, and pricing. The 250 Mbps figure describes that test setup; it is not a universal speed requirement for Netflix or other services. Read Security.org’s Netflix testing details.
Security.org’s separate streaming review, updated August 25, 2026, describes testing Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and Prime Video across regions. It assesses HD and 4K playback quality, loading, interruptions, server availability, and performance on phones, tablets, laptops, and smart TVs. Those are the publisher’s stated methods, not a guarantee that a specific VPN will work for your account or location. Read Security.org’s streaming review and methodology.

How to choose a streaming VPN for your setup
- List the services and libraries you need. Write down the streaming services you use and the country or regional catalog you want. A general “works with streaming” claim does not establish support for every combination.
- Check recent, service-specific results. Look for tests that name your platform and region, and note the test date. Treat provider access counts as dated observations rather than a promise of future availability.
- Check your TV or streaming device. Confirm current VPN app support for the exact device and operating-system version. Current reviews cover devices including Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, smart TVs, phones, and computers, but coverage in a review does not mean every provider supports every model.
- Plan for the number of devices in your household. Compare simultaneous connection limits and check whether router installation or a Smart DNS option is available if you need to connect a device without a native VPN app. Confirm the provider’s current terms and setup guidance; these options differ by service.
- Evaluate playback stability, not just speed claims. Consider loading time, HD or 4K playback, and interruptions. A strong peak-speed result does not by itself show that playback will stay reliable on your home connection, chosen server, and device.
- Review privacy and the full cost. Read the privacy policy and look for independent evidence relevant to privacy and security, such as leak testing and kill-switch behavior. Compare the initial subscription price with renewal pricing and cancellation terms; streaming rankings alone do not establish that a provider is the best privacy choice.
What the current review evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The named review results are useful starting points, but the tests are not interchangeable. Top10VPN reports broad service counts and an overall pick; TechRadar and RTINGS identify their own leading picks while noting limits; Security.org describes testing focused on service access, playback, and—in its Netflix review—privacy-related factors. Differences in test dates, regions, platforms, and evaluation criteria mean the rankings should not be read as a shared head-to-head score.

In particular, an access count does not tell you whether a VPN works with your chosen catalog today, on your device, with consistent playback. A review’s device list also does not confirm compatibility with every model or software version. Check the provider’s current support documentation before making a device-specific decision.

What to do if a streaming service blocks the VPN
VPN access can change as streaming platforms update their detection. If a service stops working, check the provider’s current troubleshooting guidance and whether it reports support for that platform and region. You can also check whether another available endpoint is supported, but do not assume that switching servers will restore access. If reliable access to a particular catalog is essential, consider the provider’s refund or cancellation policy before committing to a long subscription.
Also check the streaming service’s own terms and local rules. A VPN changes the network route; it does not grant a subscription, remove account requirements, or guarantee that a catalog is available to you.
