1. Start with coverage where you need it
Check service at home, work, school and the places you regularly travel. A national reputation—or another person’s experience in a different neighborhood—cannot tell you whether a carrier will work reliably at your destinations. If possible, ask people who use each network in those specific places, or test service before relying on it for work, navigation or emergencies.

There is no comparable independent coverage or local performance evidence here to rank Venezuela’s operators. Treat coverage as a location-specific question rather than assuming one carrier has the strongest signal everywhere.
2. Estimate what you use in a typical month
Mobile data
Separate time on Wi-Fi from time using mobile data. Video, music streaming, video calls, social feeds and hotspot use can consume data quickly; messaging and occasional browsing generally demand less. Use your phone’s data-usage screen, if available, to check recent mobile-data consumption. Choose a plan that covers ordinary use with some margin rather than paying for a large allowance you rarely need.

Calls and SMS
Check whether you make calls or send texts to national numbers, and whether your everyday contacts use messaging apps instead. Do not assume an app benefit covers every way of using that app: carrier terms may exclude voice or video calls, links, tethering or other traffic.
3. Compare the full cost, not just the advertised allowance
Write down the current charge, how it is collected, what data, minutes and SMS are included, and what you would pay for any add-ons. Also check taxes and any minimum balance or line-maintenance conditions in the operator’s current terms. Prices and packages can change, so verify the live offer before enrolling or recharging.

Digitel’s official selector lists prepaid Inteligente Plus plans with 6 GB, 12 GB and 30 GB. In the captured listing, the 6 GB plan showed 100 minutes, 100 SMS and a referential price of USD $6.86 per month. Digitel says its displayed dollar amounts include VAT and that the prepaid monthly charge is collected in bolívares using the BCV reference exchange rate. The selector’s exchange-rate date value was 2026-10-01; the dollar equivalent is not a guaranteed bolívar amount. Confirm the current charge and allowances on Digitel’s plan selector before buying.
That is an example, not a complete market comparison. Current official prepaid plan details for Movistar Venezuela and Movilnet are not established here, so compare their live offers directly rather than inferring that Digitel is cheaper or better.

4. Read the rules for app benefits and add-ons
Digitel’s plan terms list WhatsApp text, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Spotify among its social-app benefits, but exclude calls and video calls, external links, app downloads or updates, roaming, tethering and VPN use from that benefit. Digitel also states that prepaid customers need a minimum balance equivalent to 128 MB to access it. These are Digitel-specific terms; check the current conditions at Digitel’s Intelligent Plans conditions.
Digitel has announced prepaid-compatible data packages of 2 GB, 4 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB, 40 GB, 65 GB, 100 GB and 200 GB, plus separate voice add-ons of 60, 150 or 300 minutes and SMS add-ons of 60, 150 or 300 messages. These supplement a primary plan; check their current price and eligibility in the Digitel package announcement and the operator’s live offer.

5. Check expiry, renewal and unused balance
Do not assume an add-on automatically renews or that unused data carries over. Digitel’s data-package terms say that, from 2026-09-02, new data packages do not renew automatically, last one month and lose unused data at expiry. Packages active before that date retain their renewable configuration until a renewal fails or the customer deactivates it. Read the terms attached to the specific package you intend to buy; details are at Digitel’s data-package conditions.

Check the exact regional model or SKU of your phone, not only its marketing name. Digitel says line acquisition for 4G LTE requires a device operating on LTE bands 3 (1800 MHz) and 8 (900 MHz). That is a 4G requirement; it does not establish 5G compatibility. Verify the bands against the phone maker’s specifications and the operator’s current requirements before purchasing a SIM. 7. Make sure you can get and recharge the line
Before choosing a carrier, check where you can obtain a SIM, replace one or get customer support, and whether its recharge options work for you. Digitel lists recharging through its app and Tu Cuenta, where it supports Pago Móvil C2P and debit or credit cards, as well as by calling 121 or 0412-9121121, through bank websites and apps, and through other channels.
