Choose a livestream destination your community already uses, then verify that its donation flow supports your beneficiary, country, and currency. Treat production software and fundraising services as separate choices: a studio can help you broadcast, but it may not collect or route donations.
Make three decisions, not one
A successful setup connects three parts: where people watch, how the event is produced, and where donations go. One service may cover more than one part, but do not assume that a streaming platform or encoder automatically provides a charitable donation system.

- Audience destination: Pick the service where your intended community already follows you and can participate comfortably.
- Production method: Decide whether a simple direct broadcast is enough or whether you need remote guests, branded overlays, scene control, recording, or multistreaming.
- Donation path: Identify the organization receiving funds, confirm eligibility and geography, and make the donation link or flow easy to find during the event.
Check the donation path before choosing the stream
Confirm who processes the payment, who receives the money, which country and currency are supported, and what confirmation or receipt donors receive. A visible fundraising goal or alert can help viewers understand progress, but it does not by itself establish where the money goes.

- Check supported countries and currencies for both the charity and donors.
- Understand whether donations are routed directly to the charity or through another account or processor.
- Review any platform, payment-processing, or other fees. A provider’s claim that it charges no platform fee does not prove that every party in the payment chain charges nothing.
- Make the donation instructions accessible on mobile as well as desktop, and explain clearly if donors need to leave the stream to contribute.
Match the service to the event
Twitch Charity Tool: for Twitch communities and eligible U.S. charities
Twitch describes its Charity tool as a way for creators to find eligible charities, set a fundraising goal, and raise funds through a channel. Twitch says it does not take a cut of donations. Its FAQ specifies that supported organizations are U.S. charities and donations are in U.S. dollars, so check current eligibility before relying on it for a particular beneficiary. Do not label Bits, subscriptions, or other creator payments as charitable donations merely because the creator intends to pass the money on. Twitch says those monetization features are not designed to receive donations on behalf of charities; use the Charity tool or another system that routes donations to the charity and provides a receipt where relevant.
StreamYard: a production studio for guests or multistreaming
StreamYard is a production service, not a donation processor. Its supported destinations include Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Twitch, and Kick; custom RTMP destinations are also possible, with feature limitations. Destination-specific differences affect orientation, scheduling, multistreaming, comments, and moderation. Check the supported-platform documentation for the destinations you plan to use.

StreamYard’s help page lists simultaneous destination limits of three on Core, eight on Advanced, and ten on Business; multistreaming requires a paid plan. Those are product-plan claims documented by StreamYard, and plan names or limits can change. Its multistreaming guide and paid-plan feature list are the places to confirm current features. Higher plans describe features such as more participants, recording, guest destinations, and On-Air webinars. Connect a separate donation service if the studio does not meet your fundraising needs.
OBS Studio: production control, with fundraising configured separately
OBS Studio can be part of a capable production setup, but installing it does not create a charitable donation flow. The OBS Project says it “does not directly provide the facilities to receive donations for your stream in OBS Studio.” Its donations FAQ points users toward platform fundraising tools or third-party services, which can be linked or integrated separately. Choose OBS when your team can configure and operate the production workflow and handle fundraising through another service.

Dedicated fundraising services and event tools
Fundraising services can provide the donation destination while a separate platform carries the video. Streamlabs Charity says it supports fundraising across Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live, and more, and advertises no transaction, monthly, or other fees to streamers, charities, or donors. That is Streamlabs’ own claim; check payment-processing terms and any other applicable charges directly on its Charity page.
JustGiving’s Streaming for Good guide describes selecting a charity or joining an event or team page, then connecting with destinations such as Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Live.

GoFundMe’s live fundraising tools page describes a beta OBS-based toolkit with a progress bar, donation alerts, and a QR code, and references services including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram Live. Because the page identifies the tools as beta, confirm availability and conditions before building an event around them. GoFundMe Pro’s Live Events FAQ describes using third-party tools such as StreamYard or OBS and simulcasting stages to services such as Facebook, Twitch, or YouTube Live; it also describes campaign and account conditions.

- Audience: Where does your community already watch, and does that service suit the event’s interaction style?
- Beneficiary: Is the named organization eligible for the fundraising tool in the relevant country?
- Money flow: Who receives and processes donations, what currency is supported, and what confirmation do donors get?
- Presentation: Can you show a goal or progress, provide alerts or a QR code, and keep donation instructions visible?
- Production: Do you need remote guests, overlays, recording, moderation, or multiple destinations? Confirm which features require a paid plan.
- Access and moderation: Can mobile viewers reach the donation page easily, and can your team moderate comments on each destination?
- Cost and conditions: Check account requirements, plan limits, service fees, payment-processing charges, and current geographic coverage.
No official documentation cited here establishes that one service raises more money or attracts more viewers than another. Choose based on your audience, beneficiary eligibility, and the capabilities your event actually needs.
