Choose a foldable by testing both screens with the video services and app combinations you actually use, then comparing battery evidence only when the test conditions are clear. A bigger inner display can make viewing and multitasking more comfortable, but its diagonal alone does not tell you how video will fit or how long the phone will last.
Start with the two screens you will actually use
A foldable has a cover screen for closed-phone use and a larger inner screen when unfolded. Treat them as two separate displays to evaluate: you may use the cover screen for quick viewing or everyday phone tasks and unfold for films, reading, or working across apps.

For example, Samsung lists the Galaxy Z Fold7 with an 8.0-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. Those are diagonal measurements, not proof that it is the best choice for every video format. Screen shape and aspect ratio affect how content fills the display, how much may be cropped or letterboxed, and where app controls appear. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 announcement also cautions that battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors.
Check cover-screen comfort
Use the closed phone as you would a regular handset. Try reaching across the screen, typing a message, reading a page, and opening the apps you use most. A cover display that feels awkward for routine tasks may mean you unfold more often than expected.

Check how your videos fit on the inner screen
Open the streaming services you subscribe to and try a familiar film, show, or live stream. Check the picture with playback controls visible and hidden; notice cropping, letterboxing, reflections, and whether the layout feels comfortable at your usual viewing distance. If you also watch on the cover display, repeat the check there. Compare the shape and actual viewing area, not just the diagonal measurement.
Test multitasking with your own app pair
More screen area does not guarantee a useful two-app layout. Software determines whether apps can share the display, how their panes can be sized, and how well each app adapts to the available space.
Google says Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s Split Screen feature lets users run two apps at once and adjust each app’s size. That is a feature description, not a guarantee that every app will behave equally well. Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold announcement also describes a Pixelsnap ring stand for streaming.

- Put them into split-screen mode using the phone’s on-screen controls, then adjust the divider if the software allows it.
- Check whether important controls remain visible, text is readable, and switching focus works as you expect.
- Repeat with another likely pairing if your routine depends on more than one combination; app behavior can differ.
Compare battery claims by their test conditions
Battery life is not a single fixed runtime. The result depends on which screen is active, brightness, network conditions, apps, audio, and features in use. A manufacturer estimate, a reviewer’s video-playback test, and your own mixed daily use answer different questions.

| Evidence | What it can tell you | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer estimate | An estimate under the manufacturer’s specified workload and setup. | Keep the workload and qualifications attached to the figure; do not treat it as a head-to-head result against another brand unless the methods match. |
| Independent playback test | How a particular review sample performed in that reviewer’s stated video test. | Use it as one test result, not a promise of everyday runtime. Results from different reviewers are not interchangeable when their methods differ. |
| Your own routine | Whether the phone lasts through your typical mix of streaming, app use, and screen choices. | When possible, test the exact model and variant under the settings and network conditions you normally use. |
Google’s 2025 Pixel 10 Pro Fold launch materials claim “up to 30+ hours” of battery life; that is a manufacturer claim, not a controlled comparison across brands. Google’s hardware specifications also list an “up to 84-hour” estimate with Extreme Battery Saver for the applicable model. Extreme Battery Saver is a special mode, so that figure should not be read as standard streaming runtime. Check the relevant model and the current qualification on Google’s Pixel hardware specifications page.
For another kind of evidence, Android Central’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold review reports separate video-playback observations for the inner and cover screens under its stated test setup. Those observations describe that review’s method and sample; they are not directly interchangeable with a manufacturer estimate or another reviewer’s test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use a focused checklist when comparing models
- Cover-screen comfort: Assess width, reachability, typing, and whether you would be comfortable using it as your regular phone display.
- Inner-screen viewing: Try your own video services and content; assess the picture shape and controls, not just the screen diagonal.
- Multitasking: Run your actual app pair, resize the layout if supported, and check that neither app becomes impractical.
- Battery evidence: Record the screen used, brightness, network, audio, workload, and whether a figure is a manufacturer estimate or an independent test.
- Accessories: Check that a stand or ring stand clears the hinge and fits the exact phone and case. Verify charging compatibility separately if you plan to use a charger.
There is no standardized head-to-head test in the cited material that scores current foldables across streaming, multitasking, and battery life together. Treat the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold as examples of features and evidence to examine, not as a proven combined winner. Product availability and software behavior can vary by region, model variant, and time; confirm the exact version being sold where you live. Samsung’s Fold8 family guide offers current-generation display details, but the cited coverage does not provide a comparable independent test of the current model set.
