Choose a calendar that shows the entire campaign window—not just the day an email or post goes live—and makes channels, owners, deadlines, approvals, and goals visible together. The right choice depends on how your team already plans and publishes; no single tool is best for every holiday campaign.
Start with the campaign workflow, not the software
Holiday promotions commonly involve interdependent work across content, email, social, paid activity, approvals, and events. A calendar should help the team see that work together and hand it off on time. Asana’s marketing calendar guide describes the calendar as a shared plan that maps campaigns, content, email sends, social posts, and events to dates, owners, and channels. It also recommends planning seasonal, time-sensitive promotions well in advance.

Before comparing products, list the channels you actually use, each deliverable, its accountable owner, review and approval steps, publication date, and the tools you already use for assets and publishing. This inventory reveals whether you need a publishing calendar, project coordination, or both.

What to compare in a holiday content calendar
- Campaign-level visibility: Can you see related work across the full start-to-finish window, rather than only isolated publish dates?
- Ownership and handoffs: Can each task have one accountable owner, a clear status, and review or approval steps?
- Reusable planning: Can the team reuse templates or campaign structures for recurring seasonal work?
- Publishing and integrations: Does the tool publish to the channels you use, or does it connect to the publishing service you already rely on?
- Views and reporting: Can you filter by campaign, channel, owner, or status and review results after launch?
- Plan limits: Check current user, profile, collaboration, approval, and feature limits, as well as export options, directly with the vendor.
Which type of tool fits your team?
The options below reflect capabilities described by the vendors, not independent product rankings. Feature availability and plan limits can change, so confirm details for your intended use.
#1 Best Overall
| Option | What the vendor describes | Likely fit | Verify before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoSchedule Content Calendar / Marketing Calendar | Campaigns group related projects, show promotional timelines, and support social scheduling and publishing. The pricing page lists differences including approval workflows, campaign templates, custom fields, and team controls. | Marketing teams that want campaign planning and social publishing in a marketing-focused calendar. | Confirm which plan includes the campaign, approval, collaboration, and profile limits you need. On 2026-10-04, the vendor page listed Starter at $29/month billed annually or $39/month billed monthly; Professional at $49/month billed annually or $59/month billed monthly; and Suite as custom, shown as starting at $69/month. These are vendor-listed prices captured on that date, not guaranteed current prices or terms. |
| Asana | Its content-calendar page describes calendar views, templates, rules, approval routing, dashboards, and integrations for centralizing assets. It says calendar features are offered on Personal, Starter, Advanced, and Enterprise plans. | Teams already coordinating multi-step work in projects, particularly when task ownership, reviews, and asset integrations matter. | Check plan restrictions and integrations. Asana describes social scheduling through integrations such as Buffer or Hootsuite, so confirm whether publishing requires another service. |
| Trello | The marketing page describes boards, lists, cards, editorial-calendar and go-to-market campaign templates, and Calendar View. | Teams that prefer a visual board for editorial or launch work. | Confirm current Calendar View capabilities, automation, integrations, permissions, and plan limits. The reviewed marketing page does not establish native cross-network publishing. |
| Notebook or paper planner | CoSchedule notes that some marketers prefer physical notebooks or planners in its article on content planners. | A solo marketer or very small operation that wants a simple offline planning surface. | A paper planner does not provide shared live updates, automated approvals, or digital publishing integrations. Choose it only if those functions are unnecessary. |
Build a calendar that reflects the whole holiday campaign
Use a campaign record with a clear name, relevant channels and deliverables, one accountable owner for each task, a full start and end window, a status, and a link to the campaign goal. Include planning, asset creation, review, approval, scheduling, launch, and post-campaign reporting when they apply. A view filtered by channel, owner, status, or campaign can make handoffs and gaps easier to spot if the tool supports those filters.
Do not add channels just to make a demo look comprehensive. Include email, social, site content, or paid media only when your team uses them. The useful test is whether the chosen calendar makes the real work—and its dependencies—clear.

Test the workflow before committing
Use a realistic holiday campaign rather than an empty sample board. Run through these checks in the product’s trial or evaluation environment:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Create one campaign with the channels and deliverables your team actually plans to use.
- Assign owners, add review and approval steps, and enter the full campaign dates as well as launch dates.
- Move a deadline and check that the campaign view reflects the change where relevant work appears.
- Route an approval and confirm that the responsible person can see and act on it.
- Review the resulting calendar for uncovered tasks, conflicting deadlines, and unclear ownership.
- Verify publishing support for your required channels, or identify the integrations and other services needed.

Published feature lists and prices can change. Check the vendor’s current terms for the exact edition, billing schedule, user or social-profile limits, approval controls, guest access, publishing support, integrations, and export options you need. In particular, do not assume that a calendar view includes publishing, or that a feature described on a product page is available on every plan.
The available comparison is based primarily on vendor descriptions. It supports choosing conditionally by workflow, but does not establish a universally best tool or an independently tested winner. Current Asana and Trello prices are not stated in the cited product pages here.
