For heavy-duty professional work, choose a compact impact driver by matching its published power and control features to your fasteners, access needs, and battery platform—not by treating peak torque as a universal ranking. The examples below show the trade-off: compact 12 V models can publish substantial torque, while the cited 18 V models list higher peak figures. Those are manufacturer specifications, not results from a controlled cross-brand test.
Compact impact drivers compared
Specifications below are manufacturer-published figures reviewed in 2026. They use different models, measurement descriptions, and configurations, so the values are useful for screening candidates—not for declaring a cross-brand winner.

| Milwaukee M12 BLIDRC (European listing) | 109 mm; 0.6 kg | 124 Nm; up to 3,000 rpm and 4,100 ipm | European listing. Do not assume its model number or kit maps directly to North American listings. Milwaukee Tool Europe, 2026. |
How to choose for your work
Start with the fastener and application
List the fasteners you regularly drive, their size, the substrate, and the duty cycle. Confirm that an impact driver’s 1/4-inch hex interface and compatible bits suit the job. Bosch specifies M4–M12 screw diameters for the GDR 12V-105; that stated range is specific to that model and should not be generalized to other drivers or applications.

Choose voltage and platform in context
A 12 V label does not automatically mean low published torque: Milwaukee lists up to 1,500 in-lb for its M12 FUEL 3453-20. The cited 18 V examples list higher figures, but voltage alone does not establish which tool is right for a particular fastener. Consider the battery system you already own, the work required, and how much battery size and weight matter in the working setup.
#1 Best Overall
- Made For Tight Spaces - Compact and maneuverable, with the tool head measuring just 5.02 in. in length and up to 27% shorter.
- Finish Fast - Work fast with up to 19% faster driving than RYOBI**.
- Keep Going Strong - Finish what you start with up to 47% more runtime per charge.
- Huge Fastening Capability - Drive up to 294 3 in. deck screws per charge.
- Help Get Light To The Point - Focus on the action with the onboard LED.
Compare access and working weight
Length and width affect access, while tool-only weight does not describe the complete setup. The Milwaukee M18 3651-20 is listed at 1.7 lb tool-only; Bosch lists the GDR18V-215N at 2.2 lb tool-only. Add the compatible battery when considering overhead work, balance, and comfort over a full shift. Where possible, compare tool-plus-battery configurations from the same market rather than mixing bare-tool and kit figures.
Look for useful control, not just a high maximum
Multiple drive modes can make it easier to select a setting for a task. Milwaukee lists four modes and a dedicated self-tapping screw mode for the M12 FUEL 3453-20. Bosch lists two speed/torque settings and preset modes for self-drilling metal screws and wood screws on the GDR18V-215N; the damage-reduction benefit is Bosch’s stated purpose, not an independently established outcome across all conditions.

Check the exact regional SKU and kit
Before choosing a configuration, verify whether the listing is for a bare tool or a kit, which battery capacity and charger are included, and whether the model number matches your market. Compatibility claims apply to the named battery family: the Bosch 12 V driver is listed for Professional 12 V batteries and chargers, while Milwaukee’s M12 and M18 models use their respective systems. Bosch’s European GDR 12V-105 page shows both bare-tool and kit variants; regional listings may differ.

Use bits and nutsetters intended for impact-driver use, and confirm their type, size, and fit for the fastener. Bosch lists impact screwdriver bit sets and nutsetter sets as GDR 12V-105 accessories. Accessory compatibility and availability can vary by region; do not assume any bit or adapter is suitable for every application.

What the published specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Among the cited examples, Bosch lists 1,900 in-lb for the GDR18V-215N and Milwaukee lists 1,700 in-lb peak torque for the M18 3651-20. These figures do not prove that either driver performs better in a particular job: the manufacturers’ pages do not establish a shared test method, and maximum torque is only one part of suitability. They also do not provide a controlled basis for comparing durability or runtime.
Brand positioning should be read in the same way. Bosch calls its GDR 12V-105 “the most compact cordless impact driver in Bosch’s 12 V category.” That is Bosch’s claim about its own category, not an independent comparison across manufacturers.

- Brighten work areas - with an integrated 3-led work light for enhanced visibility in low-light areas
- Brushless motor on DEWALT impact driver delivers 1825 in-lbs of torque and 3400 RPM to drive large diameter screws

- 3 Year Limited Warranty
An impact driver is not an impact wrench. The cited tools have 1/4-inch hex interfaces; do not treat them as appropriate for wheel lug nuts or every high-torque fastening job. The product specifications here also do not establish noise exposure, vibration levels, safety certification, or suitability for a regulated workplace.
