To check an RX 7000 card’s vBIOS, first identify its exact board-maker model, then read the card’s firmware field labeled BIOS or VBIOS in a suitable information view or the card maker’s supported utility. Radeon driver version is a different value. If you update firmware, use only the instructions and file for your exact card, then check the reported firmware revision again after the vendor-directed restart.
Identify the exact graphics card
“Radeon RX 7000” identifies a GPU family, not a complete graphics-card model. Different board makers sell distinct cards built around the same GPU, and firmware intended for one model or firmware branch may not match another.

- Check the card or its packaging. Record the board maker, complete product name, and any revision or suffix. If the card is installed in a computer, check its label only if you can do so safely.
- Check AMD Radeon Software. AMD’s instructions point to System > More Details for graphics chipset, device ID, and subsystem ID details. See AMD’s PC identification guidance.
- Check Windows hardware IDs if needed. Open Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click the card, choose Properties > Details, then select Hardware Ids. AMD explains how device and subsystem vendor IDs can help identify the card and its maker.
Use the complete model and revision when looking for support information; searching only for a GPU name such as “RX 7900” is not enough to establish a firmware match.
Read the vBIOS version, not the driver version
Look for a card-information screen or supported card-maker utility that explicitly labels a firmware value BIOS or VBIOS. Record the entire version string. If the card offers multiple BIOS modes, note the active mode as well.

AMD Radeon Software’s driver information shows the installed graphics-driver version and provides a way to check for driver updates. That number is not the discrete graphics card’s vBIOS revision. AMD’s driver guidance is available at How to Find the Latest Compatible Drivers for an AMD Graphics Product.
There is no single documented vBIOS screen or utility established for every RX 7000 card. For example, SAPPHIRE says its TriXX INFO section includes a VBIOS area for selecting the preferred BIOS mode on supported NITRO+ RX 7000, 6000, and 5000 models. This is specific to those supported products; it does not mean every RX 7000 card has TriXX, that interface, or a switchable BIOS. See SAPPHIRE TriXX.

Check whether a firmware update applies
Open the official support page for the exact card and read its firmware notes and update instructions. Match the complete model, any board revision, and the firmware series before downloading or running anything. Do not infer that an update is needed just because a newer graphics driver is available: driver packages and card firmware are separate. AMD’s product support page lists driver packages separately; for example, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX support page is a driver listing, not proof that a card vBIOS update is available or applicable.
Firmware series can differ even within one card model. GIGABYTE’s instructions give an example in which a card with F3 firmware belongs to the F1–F9 series, not the separate F10–F19 series. Treat that as GIGABYTE-specific guidance, not a numbering rule for other manufacturers. Read GIGABYTE’s VGA BIOS update guidance and follow the exact support page for your card.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
Update using the card maker’s procedure
Only use the update utility and firmware file specified by the exact card maker. The procedure is manufacturer-specific, so do not apply one vendor’s steps to another brand’s card.
For its own products, GIGABYTE describes using VGA @BIOS to choose a BIOS file, restarting when the update completes, and optionally saving a backup of the current BIOS to a selected path. Those are GIGABYTE instructions, not universal RX 7000 steps. Follow the vendor’s directions about preparation, power, utilities, restart, and backup. A removable drive is not inherently required; use one only if it suits the backup path you choose.
Verify the update after restarting
- Restart as directed by the card maker.
- Reopen the same BIOS/VBIOS information view you used before updating.
- Compare the full reported firmware revision—and active mode, if applicable—with the vendor’s release notes or update utility’s expected result.
The reviewed manufacturer instructions do not establish one post-flash verification screen or recovery method for every RX 7000 card. If the reported revision does not match, the card becomes unstable, or the updater reports a mismatch, stop and contact the card maker’s support. Do not try a firmware image intended for a different model.
