Many OLED TV screens are made by LG Display, even when the finished television carries a different brand. But “probably” is the right level of certainty: panel sourcing varies by technology, model, size and year, and a company-wide supplier disclosure does not identify the panel inside every TV.
LG Display and LG Electronics are different companies
LG Display manufactures display panels. LG Electronics sells finished televisions under its consumer brand. The similar names can make it sound as though the companies do the same job, but they occupy different parts of the supply chain.

In its 2024 Form 20-F, LG Display describes itself as a leading supplier of large-sized OLED television panels and says its end-brand customers include leading TV manufacturers, including LG Electronics. That makes LG Display a plausible source for OLED screens in TVs sold by other brands, too. It does not establish which supplier made the panel in any particular television.
Why OLED does not mean one panel supplier
OLED is a display category, not a single manufacturer’s design. LG Display’s large-TV-and-monitor technology is called Tandem WOLED. The company says it first mass-produced large-sized OLED TV panels in 2013; its technology page describes the approach as stacking red, green and blue light sources in a tandem structure to produce white light.

Another option is QD-OLED, made by Samsung Display. Technology and sourcing can vary within a brand’s lineup, so a television brand name—or the word “OLED” on the box—is not enough to identify the panel. Recent reporting on OLED TVs in 2026 likewise treats panel type as something to verify for the specific model rather than assume across a range.
What LG Display’s brightness claims do—and do not—tell you
LG Display has announced successive panel technologies with increasingly high headline figures. These are manufacturer-reported specifications or test results, not independent measurements of every finished TV that might use a panel.

| Announcement | What LG Display reported | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| OLED EX, 2021 | Up to 30% brighter than conventional OLED displays. LG Display said it planned to introduce OLED EX across OLED TV displays made at its Paju and Guangzhou plants beginning in Q2 2022. | A company claim and production plan from 2021, not a guarantee about every OLED television. |
| Fourth-generation OLED panel, January 2025 | Up to 4,000 nits maximum brightness; 33% brighter than the previous generation; 2,100 nits color brightness, stated as 40% above the previous generation’s 1,500 nits; and around 20% greater energy efficiency for a 65-inch panel. | Figures in LG Display’s announcement describe the company’s panel, not the measured performance of every TV using it. |
| Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 panel, 2026 | Up to 4,500 nits peak luminance and 0.3% reflectance. | Company-stated specifications for the announced panel; they do not establish that every LG Display panel or finished TV reaches those figures. |
The 2026 announcement also reports “100% dimming consistency” verification by UL Solutions. LG Display defines the test as progressively reducing a reference area from one-tenth of the panel to two-thousandths. That is a result for a specific test, not a general guarantee of picture quality. The company’s February 2026 announcement explains the verification.

There is no exhaustive model-by-model supplier list established by the cited company disclosures. To make a sourcing claim about a TV, look for documentation that identifies the exact model, screen size and year—not simply the brand or series name.

- Check the manufacturer’s technical specifications or support documentation for the exact model and size.
- Look for reliable reporting that names the precise model and panel type; do not treat a projected or unconfirmed assignment as settled fact.
- If the supplier is not explicitly documented, treat it as unknown rather than inferring it from the brand.
What panel origin means when choosing a TV
Panel maker is one component of the finished television, not a verdict on how the set will look or work. TV processing, brightness limits, reflection handling and other design choices affect the experience, so a panel’s maximum specification does not guarantee that every TV using it will perform alike.
When comparing actual TVs, prioritize measured picture performance for the exact model, how it handles light and reflections in your room, screen size, gaming and smart-TV features, and price. Confirm panel technology for the specific model and size if that detail matters to you; do not use the panel supplier as a substitute for comparing the finished TVs.
