To check whether an app will work on a Snapdragon X2 Plus Windows laptop, search for the exact app in Microsoft’s Windows on Arm Ready Software dashboard, then check its compatibility status, whether it runs natively or through emulation, and the listing’s validation or update date. Confirm important dependencies—especially drivers, VPNs, security tools, and peripherals—with the app publisher or your IT team. Snapdragon X2 Plus is ARM64-compatible, but that does not certify every app, version, device, or accessory.
Check the exact app, not just the processor
Qualcomm lists both 10-core and 6-core Snapdragon X2 Plus variants as “ARM64-Compatible” in its Snapdragon X2 Plus product brief. That describes the processor architecture; it is not a verdict on any particular Windows app. Compatibility can also depend on the app version, its plug-ins and drivers, the laptop configuration, and the Windows build installed.

For a dependable check, make a list of the software and devices you actually need: work apps, games, plug-ins, VPN or security software, printers, and device-management tools. Include exact app versions where possible. Then check each item separately rather than assuming that one successful app proves the rest of your setup will work.

- Open Microsoft’s Windows on Arm documentation and follow its link to Windows on Arm Ready Software, also known as the Works on WoA dashboard.
- Search the exact app name in the dashboard’s app and game listings. Check the publisher as well as the name so you do not mistake a similarly named product for the one you use.
- Read the listing’s compatibility status, native or emulated designation, validation status, and update date where shown. Treat the entry as information about the listed software, not a guarantee for a different release, plug-in set, accessory, or laptop configuration.
- Compare the listing with the publisher’s current system requirements and support notes. For work-critical software, ask the vendor or your IT team about the exact version and required components.
Microsoft describes the Windows on Arm documentation as a route to compatibility information, and the dashboard displays listing details such as compatibility and update information. Because entries can change, check the date shown on the particular listing rather than relying on an old screenshot or an undated claim.

Understand native Arm64 apps and emulated apps
A native Arm64 app is built for Arm processors. An x86 or x64 app runs as user-mode code through Windows emulation. Microsoft says Windows 11 on Arm supports emulation of both x86 and x64 apps; Windows 11 version 24H2 includes Prism, an emulation technology optimized for Snapdragon processors. The Windows version on the specific laptop therefore matters. Microsoft identifies native Arm64 apps as the preferred choice for performance, responsiveness, and battery life, while results for emulated apps vary by app and system.

Check drivers and other dependencies separately
Emulation applies to user-mode app code; it does not make an incompatible driver work. Microsoft Learn states: “In all cases, kernel-mode drivers and user-mode print drivers MUST be built as native Arm64 binaries to work on Arm64 devices.” Check the printer or device maker’s driver page, and ask your VPN, security-software, or business-app provider about Arm64 support for any required drivers, network filters, anti-cheat components, or device-management utilities.

Microsoft’s Windows Arm-based PCs FAQ flags possible issues with some games that rely on incompatible anti-cheat drivers, some Windows customization or assistive-technology apps, and peripherals without Arm64 drivers. A dashboard entry for the main app does not by itself establish that these dependencies will work.

If an app is essential and its support status is unclear, test the exact app version and the peripherals or plug-ins you use on the exact laptop before relying on it. Alternatively, get confirmation from the publisher or your IT team. This is especially important for business-critical software because a general app listing does not certify every Snapdragon X2 Plus laptop configuration.
When an app is listed as compatible but fails, confirm its version and the installed Windows updates first. Then check the publisher’s notes and verify that required drivers and plug-ins are available for Arm64. A failure may involve a dependency rather than the main app itself.

Try emulation settings only as troubleshooting
Windows provides per-app emulation settings that may help with some compatibility problems, but they are not a guarantee. Microsoft warns that changing them may reduce performance or cause the app to crash or fail to launch.

- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Open the Windows on Arm emulation settings and review the available options for that app.
- Change a setting only if you are troubleshooting a specific problem; test the app afterward and revert the change if it makes things worse.
