If by “the new Harry Potter RPG” you mean Hogwarts Legacy, compare your Windows edition, processor, memory, graphics card and VRAM, DirectX support, and free storage with the game’s official PC specification tiers. The minimum/low tier targets 720p at 30 frames per second on low settings; recommended/high targets 1080p at 60 fps; Ultra targets 1440p at 60 fps; and Ultra 4K targets 2160p at 60 fps. Those are publisher-listed targets, not guarantees for every computer.
The title is ambiguous, however. If you mean another Harry Potter game, do not apply these figures until you find that game’s own current PC requirements.

First, identify the game
“A new Harry Potter RPG” is not a specific product name. The official PC specification listing that matches this description is for Hogwarts Legacy, so the requirements below apply to that game only. Treat that identification as an inference from the wording rather than confirmation of an exact title.

Different games can have substantially different processor, graphics, memory and storage demands; a match for Hogwarts Legacy cannot establish compatibility with another release.

Understand what each official tier promises
The specification page presents four hardware tiers. Each combines a hardware baseline with a particular resolution, frame-rate and graphics-quality target. Meeting the minimum row does not mean that your computer should deliver the recommended or Ultra experience.
| Tier and publisher-listed target | Processor | Memory | Graphics card | Storage | DirectX and operating system |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum/Low — 720p, 30 fps, low quality | Intel Core i5-6600 at 3.3 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 at 3.2 GHz | 16 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 4 GB or AMD Radeon RX 470 4 GB | 85 GB HDD; SSD preferred, HDD supported | Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 |
| Recommended/High — 1080p, 60 fps, high quality | Intel Core i7-8700 at 3.2 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 at 3.6 GHz | 16 GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770 | 85 GB SSD | Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 |
| Ultra — 1440p, 60 fps, ultra quality | Intel Core i7-10700K at 3.80 GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X at 3.80 GHz | 32 GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT | 85 GB SSD | Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 |
| Ultra 4K — 2160p, 60 fps, ultra quality | Intel Core i7-10700K at 3.80 GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X at 3.80 GHz | 32 GB | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT | 85 GB SSD | Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 |
The figures above are the currently retrieved official listing. That page does not show a publication or revision date, so recheck the publisher’s current requirements if the date of the listing matters to your purchase decision.
Check your PC before comparing it
Write down your computer’s details first. Comparing from memory can lead to a false “yes,” especially when a desktop has more than one graphics device or when a laptop’s advertised model differs from the GPU actually used by a game.
1. Confirm Windows and the processor
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Record the Windows edition and whether it is 64-bit.
- Record the processor name and its listed speed.
The game’s displayed tiers all list Windows 10 64-bit. If your PC uses a different Windows edition, an older 32-bit installation or an unlisted operating-system configuration, the official table does not establish compatibility for it.
2. Check installed memory
- Open Task Manager > Performance.
- Select Memory and note the installed amount.
Every displayed tier lists at least 16 GB. Ultra and Ultra 4K list 32 GB. Installed memory is a separate requirement from graphics memory: 16 GB of system RAM does not turn a graphics card with insufficient VRAM into a qualifying card.

- Preorder Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition and receive the Onyx Hippogriff Mount. Content will be delivered as a packed in code with game.
3. Identify the graphics processor and VRAM
- In Task Manager > Performance, select each listed GPU.
- Record the exact graphics-card name and the dedicated graphics memory shown for it.
- If more than one GPU appears, identify which one the game is expected to use rather than assuming the first entry is the fastest.
The minimum row explicitly names 4 GB versions of the GTX 960 and RX 470. The higher rows name particular GPU models but do not provide a general equivalency calculator. A model number that sounds newer or faster is not proof that it matches one of these examples, and a card with less VRAM than the named configuration should not be treated as an automatic match.
4. Check free storage
- Open File Explorer.
- Check the free space on the drive where you intend to install the game.
The listing says 85 GB in every tier. The minimum/low row supports an HDD but prefers an SSD; recommended/high, Ultra and Ultra 4K specify an SSD. Free space is not the same as total drive capacity: an 85 GB drive with less than 85 GB available will not meet the stated capacity requirement.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →5. Verify DirectX support
The official table lists DirectX 12 across all four tiers. Confirm that the Windows installation and graphics hardware you plan to use support DirectX 12. A computer that meets a CPU or GPU line but cannot provide the listed DirectX version has not met the complete requirement.
Compare your results with the minimum row
Use the minimum/low row as a complete checklist, not as a score. Your PC needs to satisfy the operating-system, DirectX, processor, memory, graphics and storage conditions together for the publisher’s 720p/30-fps low-quality target.
- Windows 10 64-bit is listed.
- DirectX 12 is listed.
- The processor is at least one of the named baseline examples, or its equivalence is established by reliable current performance information.
- There is at least 16 GB of system RAM.
- The graphics card is at least one of the named 4 GB baseline examples, or its equivalence is established by reliable current performance information.
- At least 85 GB is free on the installation drive.
One component does not compensate for another. For example, 32 GB of RAM cannot make a graphics card below the minimum an official match, and a powerful GPU cannot remove a processor or DirectX shortfall. If any item is below the row, describe the result as uncertain or below the listed baseline rather than as a pass.
Choose the tier that matches the experience you want
For 720p at 30 fps on low settings
Compare against Minimum/Low. This is the least demanding listed outcome. It is also the only displayed tier that permits an HDD, although the publisher prefers an SSD even here. Meeting this row does not promise 1080p, high settings or 60 fps.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For 1080p at 60 fps on high settings
Compare against Recommended/High, not Minimum/Low. This row still lists 16 GB of RAM but raises the processor and graphics examples substantially and specifies an 85 GB SSD. A PC that merely reaches the minimum row has not been shown to support this target.
For 1440p at 60 fps on ultra settings
Compare against Ultra. The listed processor and graphics examples are higher than the recommended row, memory rises to 32 GB, and an SSD is specified. The target is 1440p at 60 fps with ultra quality.
For 2160p (4K) at 60 fps on ultra settings
Compare against Ultra 4K. This row keeps the 32 GB memory and SSD requirements but lists a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT as the graphics examples. It targets 2160p at 60 fps. A match to the 1440p Ultra row should not be presented as a 4K match.
How to handle hardware that is not listed
The table gives representative processor and GPU models, not every compatible part. If your exact model is absent, the official page alone cannot prove that it is equivalent. Avoid deciding from branding, generation numbers or clock speed alone.

For an unlisted processor or graphics card, look for current, model-specific benchmarks or support information from the game publisher and compare the relevant performance class. Keep the qualification attached to your conclusion: “not established from the official table” is more accurate than an unconditional yes or no. This is especially important for laptop GPUs, reduced-power variants and integrated graphics, whose performance can differ from similarly named desktop parts.
Storage and SSD decisions
Plan for the full 85 GB stated by the official listing on the drive that will hold the installation. The number is a capacity requirement, not a recommendation to buy a particular drive size. Your PC’s interface and physical form factor determine which replacement or additional drive can be installed.
An HDD is explicitly supported only in the Minimum/Low row, where an SSD is preferred. The three higher rows specify an SSD. If your goal is recommended/high, Ultra or Ultra 4K, treat an SSD as part of the tier rather than assuming that an HDD qualifies because it has enough free capacity.

“My PC has one matching part, so it can run the game.”
The rows are multi-part requirements. A matching GPU cannot offset less than 16 GB of RAM, an insufficient processor, unsupported DirectX or inadequate free space.
Recommended Free Tools
“Minimum means 1080p at 60 fps.”
Minimum/Low is tied to 720p, 30 fps and low quality. The 1080p/60-fps target belongs to Recommended/High.
“Recommended means the same as Ultra.”
Recommended/High lists 16 GB and targets 1080p at 60 fps. Ultra lists 32 GB and targets 1440p at 60 fps; Ultra 4K targets 2160p at 60 fps with still higher graphics examples.
“An 85 GB drive is enough for every tier.”
Capacity is 85 GB in every row, but the drive type differs. HDD support appears only in Minimum/Low; all higher rows specify SSD.
“The publisher’s target is a guarantee.”
Resolution, frame rate and quality are stated targets under the publisher’s specification tiers. They are not a promise that every PC meeting an example will sustain that result in every scene or configuration.

A practical decision worksheet
Use this order when you need a clear answer without overclaiming:
- Write down the exact game title. If it is not Hogwarts Legacy, find that game’s own requirements.
- Record Windows version and architecture from Settings > System > About.
- Record processor and speed from the same page.
- Record system memory and every GPU from Task Manager > Performance, including dedicated VRAM where shown.
- Record free space on the intended installation drive in File Explorer.
- Confirm DirectX 12 support for the Windows and graphics configuration you will use.
- Pick the desired outcome: 720p/30 low, 1080p/60 high, 1440p/60 ultra or 2160p/60 ultra.
- Compare every requirement in that row. Mark the result as meets, below, or not established for each item.
- Call the PC a match only when every item in the selected row is met or reliably established as equivalent.
What to do when the result is uncertain
Do not convert uncertainty into a purchase recommendation. First identify the exact CPU and GPU models, the amount of dedicated VRAM, the active GPU in a multi-GPU system, the Windows architecture, DirectX support and available storage. Then compare those details with the appropriate row or obtain model-specific performance evidence.
If storage is the only shortfall, check whether the intended drive has the correct interface and form factor before considering an SSD. The official game listing establishes the 85 GB capacity and the HDD-versus-SSD preference by tier, but it does not establish compatibility with a particular replacement drive.
If the processor, GPU, RAM or operating system is below a row, the table does not provide a universal fix. An upgrade may be constrained by the computer’s motherboard, power supply, cooling, memory slots, laptop design or operating-system support; those constraints require the exact PC model and are not resolved by the game’s specification page.
Bottom line for each target
| Your intended result | Row to check | Key thresholds |
|---|---|---|
| 720p, 30 fps, low | Minimum/Low | 16 GB RAM; i5-6600 or Ryzen 5 1400 examples; GTX 960 4 GB or RX 470 4 GB examples; 85 GB; HDD supported, SSD preferred |
| 1080p, 60 fps, high | Recommended/High | 16 GB RAM; i7-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600 examples; GTX 1080 Ti, RX 5700 XT or Arc A770 examples; 85 GB SSD |
| 1440p, 60 fps, ultra | Ultra | 32 GB RAM; i7-10700K or Ryzen 7 5800X examples; RTX 2080 Ti or RX 6800 XT examples; 85 GB SSD |
| 2160p, 60 fps, ultra | Ultra 4K | 32 GB RAM; i7-10700K or Ryzen 7 5800X examples; RTX 3090 Ti or RX 7900 XT examples; 85 GB SSD |
The safest answer to “Can my PC run the new Harry Potter RPG?” is therefore conditional: identify whether the game is Hogwarts Legacy, measure your exact configuration, select the performance target you actually want, and verify every requirement in that tier. The official listing supplies the thresholds and targets; it does not replace checking your particular hardware or guarantee identical performance on every system.
