Find your graphics card’s exact model, match its GeForce RTX generation to the specific DLSS feature you want, then check that the game supports that feature and your NVIDIA driver is current. “Supports DLSS” is not a single yes-or-no answer: a card may support Super Resolution but not Frame Generation or another newer feature.
Check your exact graphics card model
Start with the full GPU name, not just the computer brand or a broad label such as “GeForce.” A desktop card, a laptop GPU and another product in the same general family can have different names, so identify the device in the computer where you plan to play.

Find the model with DXDIAG
- In Windows, search for DXDIAG and open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- Select the Display tab.
- Read the device name shown for the graphics device. If there is more than one Display tab, check the device listed on each tab so you do not mistake an integrated graphics device for the NVIDIA GPU.
NVIDIA documents DXDIAG’s Display tab as a way to identify the graphics card. If the name is missing or unclear, use one of the alternate checks below.
Find it in NVIDIA Control Panel
If an NVIDIA driver is installed, open NVIDIA Control Panel, choose Help, then System Information. Find the GPU model in the Items list. This is a useful check when the Windows display tools show several adapters.

Use Device Manager as an alternate check
Right-click the Windows Start button, open Device Manager, and expand Display adapters. The listed adapter names show the graphics devices Windows detects. If the computer has both integrated graphics and an NVIDIA GPU, note the NVIDIA model specifically; the integrated adapter’s name does not establish the NVIDIA card’s DLSS capability.
Match the GPU generation to the feature you want
Once you have the model, identify its GeForce RTX generation and check the row for the particular DLSS feature. NVIDIA’s support matrix distinguishes features rather than treating DLSS as one universal capability.
| DLSS feature | GeForce RTX generations listed by NVIDIA | What to take from the listing |
|---|---|---|
| Super Resolution | RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 Series | These generations are listed for this upscaling feature. |
| DLAA | RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 Series | These generations are listed for this anti-aliasing feature. |
| Frame Generation | RTX 40 and 50 Series | The listed support is narrower than for Super Resolution. |
| Dynamic Multi Frame Generation | RTX 50 Series | Check this specific row if this is the feature you want. |
| 3D-Guided Neural Rendering | RTX 50 Series | This newer neural-rendering feature has its own hardware requirement. |
This is a generation-level summary of NVIDIA’s published feature matrix, not a guarantee that every card in a listed family can use every DLSS option in every game. Check the full model and the exact feature row, especially for new features and for laptop GPUs.

Do not treat “DLSS 4” or “DLSS 4.5” as a single hardware switch
Feature names and support descriptions can change as NVIDIA adds capabilities. NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 FAQ separately says Super Resolution is supported on all GeForce RTX GPUs, while Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X Multi Frame Generation are available on GeForce RTX 50 Series. Those names refer to distinct capabilities: support for Super Resolution does not imply support for multi-frame generation.
If the feature you want is described with a newer name, use the current NVIDIA feature table or FAQ and match the wording there. Do not infer support for a newly named feature solely from a broader statement that a card supports DLSS.
Confirm that the game supports the feature
GPU capability is only one part of compatibility. A game must also implement the DLSS feature you want, and the applicable current GeForce Game Ready or Studio driver must be installed. A compatible card will not make a DLSS option appear in a game that does not support it.

- Look up the game in NVIDIA’s supported game and application information.
- Check that the listing or game settings identify the specific feature you want, rather than only saying “DLSS.”
- Install the applicable current Game Ready or Studio driver for your GPU.
- Open the game’s graphics or display settings and check whether that feature is available. Follow the game’s own instructions if it requires a restart or a particular graphics setting before the option appears.
NVIDIA notes that its supported-title list grows as integrations are added. A title not appearing in a list may therefore reflect the list’s coverage or a newer integration; check the game’s current settings and support information rather than assuming that every DLSS feature is present.

If the DLSS option is missing
- Recheck the adapter name. On systems with multiple graphics devices, verify that you identified the NVIDIA GPU rather than the integrated adapter.
- Check the feature, not just the DLSS label. A game may offer Super Resolution while omitting Frame Generation or another feature with a narrower generation requirement.
- Verify the game’s implementation. DLSS support can vary by title and by feature; the GPU matrix alone does not confirm that a particular game exposes the option.
- Update the applicable driver. NVIDIA identifies a current Game Ready or Studio driver as part of the check.
- Revisit the live support information for newer features. NVIDIA’s feature names and support pages can evolve, so a generation-level summary may not capture the newest distinctions.
What the compatibility check can—and cannot—tell you
A successful check establishes whether the GPU generation is listed for the requested feature and whether the game and driver conditions are met. It does not predict how much performance or image-quality change you will see in a particular game. NVIDIA describes DLSS as a way to maximize performance, responsiveness and image quality on GeForce RTX GPUs; that is NVIDIA’s product-page language, not a performance result for your system.
If your current GPU is not listed for a particular feature, that does not by itself mean you need a new card just to use DLSS. First decide whether that specific feature is important to you and check what the game offers. NVIDIA’s feature matrix is not a ranking of individual graphics cards and does not identify a best upgrade.
