Check the game’s price history on SteamDB: search for the exact game, open its Prices tab, and compare the current price with the historical table and graph for your currency and region. Treat the result as the lowest recorded price in SteamDB’s available history, not automatically as a guaranteed all-time low.
Check the price history for the exact game
- Go to SteamDB and search for the game you plan to buy.
- Choose the listing that matches the item you want: the base game, a specific edition, downloadable content, or a bundle.
- Open the listing’s Prices tab. SteamDB provides a price table and graph; use them to compare the current price with earlier recorded prices.
- Select or locate your own currency and region, then find the current price and the lowest recorded price for that same listing.
- Check when the recorded low occurred. A low from years ago is still useful context, but it does not mean that price is likely to return soon.
Make sure the comparison is like for like
Match your currency and region
SteamDB says it tracks prices in all 41 currencies supported by Steam, with price-history data going back to 2012. Those are service-wide coverage statements, not a guarantee that every game has a complete record for every date. Compare the price for your own currency and region: a figure from another market may not match what appears at your checkout.

Match the game, edition, or bundle
A cheaper price may belong to a different edition, a bundle, or downloadable content rather than the base game. SteamDB notes that a cheaper bundle can explain an apparent discount discrepancy. Compare the same purchasable item before deciding whether today’s price is a new low.

What the price history can—and cannot—tell you
A sale badge or discount percentage alone does not establish that a game is at its lowest price. Publishers choose discounts, so compare the actual current price with the item’s recorded history rather than judging the offer by its percentage off.

Use careful wording: SteamDB’s FAQ says its data is provided as-is and carries no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Its history is useful evidence, but the record may not prove that a lower price never existed. Call the result a lowest recorded price in SteamDB’s available history unless you have evidence supporting a broader claim.
Past discounts also cannot reliably predict the next one. SteamDB says it cannot know which specific games will be discounted in an upcoming sale, or what their prices and discounts will be. Historical patterns can provide context, not a promise about when or how much a game will be discounted.

Set an alert if you would rather wait
If the current price is above your target, add the game to your Steam Wishlist or use a price-tracking service’s watchlist or waitlist instead of checking manually.
