In a Puppeteer request event handler, call request.isNavigationRequest(). It returns true when that request drives navigation of its current frame.
Check the request in the page event handler
The page’s request event provides an HTTPRequest object. Call the navigation method directly on that object:

if (request.isNavigationRequest()) {
console.log('This request drives navigation of its current frame:', request.url());
}
});
The Puppeteer API reference consulted is labeled version 25.12.0. If compatibility matters, check the reference for the version installed in your project: Puppeteer HTTPRequest API.

The method answers one specific question: is this request the driver of the current frame’s navigation? It does not determine navigation from the URL, HTTP method, or resource type. An HTTPRequest also exposes separate properties and methods such as frame(), resourceType(), method(), and url(); those can provide context, but they are not substitutes for the documented navigation predicate.

Keep navigation status separate from request outcome
isNavigationRequest() does not say whether the request succeeded. Puppeteer reports request completion and failure through separate lifecycle events:
requestfinishedfires after the response body has been downloaded.requestfailedfires when a request fails.
An HTTP error response such as 404 or 503 can still complete the HTTP request lifecycle and lead to requestfinished. Use the appropriate lifecycle event when you need to track completion or failure rather than inferring an outcome from the navigation boolean.

If your goal is to obtain a webpage screenshot rather than inspect Puppeteer’s request events, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-call screenshot API. For example, using cURL:
