There is no universal public checker for an unspecified Pokémon Mewtwo distribution code. The practical test is to confirm which game, region and campaign the code belongs to, then try redeeming it through that game’s Mystery Gift flow while the campaign is valid. If redemption fails, the error alone does not prove the code has expired.
What determines whether a Mewtwo code works?
A code’s terms come from the promotion that issued it—not from the fact that it is for Mewtwo. Check the original card, retailer handout or announcement for the target game, eligible region, redemption dates and any other conditions. Partner promotions can vary by region, retailer and date, and may be limited by supplies: Pokémon Support’s distribution guidance.

Use the redemption option in the game named by the promotion. For Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, Pokémon Support gives this process:

- Open the game and select Mystery Gift.
- Choose the option to receive a gift with a code or password.
- Connect to the internet when prompted and enter the code.
- After the gift arrives, save the game.
These steps are specific to Sword and Shield; other games may have a different flow. See Pokémon Support’s Sword and Shield redemption instructions. A successful claim shows that the code was redeemable for that save at that time. It does not establish that the code can be used again or in another game.
If the game rejects the code
Check the likely causes in order rather than treating every rejection as an expiration notice:

- Entry error: Re-enter the code carefully and check characters that can be confused.
- Wrong game or region: Compare the game’s name and region with the original promotion terms.
- Campaign dates: Confirm the redemption window has started and has not ended.
- Prior use or eligibility limits: The code may have been claimed already, or the campaign may restrict claims by account or save.
- Service conditions: Some code systems can be affected by maintenance or temporary availability issues.
Rules differ across games. For example, Pokémon HOME says a code used to claim a gift cannot be reused, and each gift can be received only once per save file: Pokémon HOME code instructions. Pokémon Sleep’s separate serial-code FAQ discusses codes that are not yet valid or have expired, single-use and account-limit errors, and maintenance-related issues: Pokémon Sleep FAQ. Those examples illustrate possible issues in those systems; they do not determine why a different game’s Mewtwo code failed. The specific game’s message and the original promotion terms are the relevant guides.
If the code appears to meet its terms but still fails, contact the game’s official support channel and provide the exact error and campaign details. Avoid posting a code publicly if it might still be claimable.

Where to check for current or future Mewtwo distributions
Pokémon says distribution events are announced on pokemon.com when information becomes available, and it cannot answer questions about unannounced events or possible re-releases. For partner promotions, it also points players to Pokémon news, newsletters, social media, local retailers and in-game news; dates, locations and participating retailers may vary: Pokémon Support’s distribution guidance.
