To check whether a PlayStation Plus game is leaving, look for its end date in the Game Catalog or Classics Catalog on your console or Sony’s official PlayStation Plus games page. Sony says some catalog games have end dates publicized in advance, but its US guidance does not promise a fixed notice period or an individual alert for every member. Check the listing for your region and plan, and verify it again near the time you expect to play.

Check the catalog on your console or online

Sony provides catalog access through the PlayStation Plus menus on PS5 and PS4. You can also browse Sony’s PlayStation Plus games page. Listings can change as titles enter or leave the service, so a check made well before your planned play date may not reflect current availability.

On PS5

From the Games home screen, select PlayStation Plus.
Open the Benefits tab.
Select Game Catalog, then find the game and check its listing for an end date or leaving-soon notice.

On PS4

From the function screen, select PlayStation Plus.
Select Game Catalog, then find the game and check its listing for an end date or leaving-soon notice.

On the web

Browse the official PlayStation Plus games page and look for the game’s current catalog information. For a title you intend to start or finish later, check the listing again close to that date.

Make sure you are checking the right PlayStation Plus benefit

A monthly game and a rotating catalog game are different benefits. Sony describes monthly games as games members can add to their library and play while their membership is active. Some Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles, by contrast, have end dates and leave the service. A monthly game should not be treated as a catalog title simply because it appears in a PlayStation Plus list.

Catalog access also depends on membership tier. Sony’s US membership guide says Extra includes the Game Catalog, while Premium includes both the Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. Confirm your own tier and the listing for your region; the cited guidance is US-specific, and availability can vary by plan and change over time.

What Sony says about departure dates and alerts

Sony’s US PlayStation Plus games FAQ says: “Some games in the Game Catalogue and Classics Catalogue will have end dates when they leave the service, which will be publicised ahead of time.” The statement does not specify how far ahead those dates will appear, nor does it guarantee an individual notification to every member. Use the current listing rather than relying on a particular notice window or alert.

What happens to the game and its add-ons when it leaves?

When a catalog game leaves the service, you can no longer access it through the catalog. Sony also says associated DLC and add-ons for a downloaded catalog game become inaccessible if the content leaves the service or your subscription expires. If you later resubscribe or purchase the game, purchased add-ons can be used again. Sony says DLC and add-ons are not supported while streaming a title.

Decide what to do before the end date

If the listing shows an end date, your options depend on how much you want continued access and whether the game is available for separate purchase.

Keep playing through the catalog: Plan to finish before the listed date; check close to your play date in case the listing has changed.
Buy the game: If it is sold separately and continued access matters to you, purchasing it is an option. Check the store listing and your region before deciding.
Wait: You can accept that catalog availability may change and see whether the game remains available later.

Consider whether you own DLC, how much time you need to finish, and whether your subscription tier includes the relevant catalog. There is no single best choice for every game or player.
