Check compatibility for the specific Good Lock module and Galaxy device you plan to use—not just for the Good Lock app. First note your device model and installed One UI version, then inspect the module’s current Galaxy Store listing and update history for compatibility notes or fixes. If Samsung has not documented support for that module, device and software combination, treat it as unconfirmed rather than assuming it will work.
Why checking Good Lock itself is not enough
Good Lock is a collection of separate customization apps, often called modules, rather than a single feature whose compatibility guarantees the behavior of every component. A module such as LockStar or Home Up can have its own updates and device or software limitations. The fact that Good Lock is available or installs on a phone does not establish that every module works with that phone’s model and One UI release.

Samsung’s Good Lock Galaxy Store listing gives a broad availability statement: the app is for Samsung devices running Android 8.0 or higher, and some devices may not be supported. That is a general statement about Good Lock availability, not a module-by-module compatibility chart. Samsung Developer’s Good Lock Plugin Overview advises checking whether a plugin supports the device’s One UI version. In practice, that means checking the module, the installed software and the device together.

Keep the distinction between availability and compatibility in mind throughout the check. Availability asks whether the app or module can be found for your device and region. Compatibility asks whether the exact module version works on the One UI version installed on that device, including the particular feature you want to use. A positive answer to the first question does not settle the second.

Record your Galaxy model and installed One UI version
On the device, open Settings > About phone (or About tablet) and note the model name or model number. Then open Settings > About phone > Software information and note the One UI version. Menu wording can differ slightly by device or software release. Use the version shown on your own device; do not rely on the One UI version you expect to receive or on a chart that may describe an older release.
Write down both details before searching. “One UI 8” alone is incomplete if Samsung’s note or a module listing is limited to a particular device. Conversely, a model name without the installed software version does not establish which release you are checking. Your model and installed version form the combination to compare with the module’s published information.

Identify the exact module
Decide which component you want to use—for example, LockStar or Home Up—and look up that module specifically. A listing or update for Good Lock as a whole is not a substitute for the module’s own listing and update information. If you are investigating a particular feature, record that feature too: a module can open successfully while one function still has a problem.

Read the module’s current Galaxy Store listing
Check the module listing for explicit One UI version, device-model, or feature-compatibility notes. Read the current description and release notes rather than relying on an old article, forum post or cached compatibility chart. A note that names your software or device is stronger evidence than a general statement that the app is available.

Look for the scope of each note. A statement about one feature or one device does not necessarily describe every feature or model. If a note identifies a fix, compare its named software release and module version with the ones on your device. If the listing says only that a module is available, record that as availability information—not proof of support for your particular One UI version.

Inspect the module’s update history
Samsung says Good Lock exposes update history for each app. Use that history to see whether the module has received changes relevant to your One UI release or the feature you need. Check the date and version of the module update: an update history is useful evidence of changes, but the mere presence of a recent update does not prove support for every device.

A note that addresses your feature or release is more useful than an update with no relevant detail. If the history does not name your situation, that does not prove the module is incompatible; it means the history alone has not confirmed support for it.

Install an available module update separately
If Galaxy Store offers an update for the module, install it and test the intended feature again. An operating-system update and a module update are separate changes; having the latest One UI does not necessarily mean the installed module is current. Samsung’s documented One UI 8 LockStar case below illustrates why the module’s own version can matter.
After updating, retry the same feature and note what changed. If the problem remains, do not assume that updating the module proves the device and software combination is unsupported. Check the current listing and Samsung guidance again, particularly if the update history does not discuss your feature. Keep the module version with your other notes so you can describe the exact state you tested.

When comparing two modules—or the same module on two Galaxy devices—use the same four details for each case: the exact module version and its notes, the installed One UI version, the device model and any stated limitations, and Samsung’s documentation for the intended feature. That keeps the comparison specific. A module update on one device cannot establish support for a different model, and a feature fix for one One UI release cannot automatically be carried over to another.

Avoid treating a compatibility percentage or a blanket claim that all modules work as established unless Samsung publishes evidence for it. A clear, narrow answer—such as “Samsung documents this LockStar issue and directs users on One UI 8 to update”—is more dependable than a broad claim that a module works everywhere.
Example: LockStar and Adaptive Clock on One UI 8
Samsung Support documents a specific case involving Adaptive Clock, also called Stretch Clock. On a Galaxy phone or tablet running Android 16 (One UI 8), the feature may not work properly when LockStar is outdated. Samsung’s stated fix for that issue is to update LockStar through Galaxy Store to version 7.0.1.10.
This example shows how to use a support note: match the named feature, module and operating-system release, then follow the stated module update route. Version 7.0.1.10 is the version Samsung identifies for this One UI 8 Adaptive Clock issue; it is not a universal minimum for LockStar, a general requirement for Good Lock, or proof of compatibility with later releases.
It also shows why a symptom should be checked at the feature level. A device can run One UI 8 and have LockStar installed while Adaptive Clock still behaves incorrectly because the module is outdated. In that case, the support note points to a module update rather than establishing that all LockStar functions fail or that the whole Good Lock app is incompatible. Follow only the scope of Samsung’s documented issue.

If the module is missing or does not work
The module does not appear in Galaxy Store
- Confirm that you are checking from the Galaxy device and account or region where you intend to use it.
- Check the exact model and whether the module’s listing or Samsung guidance describes a device limitation.
- Samsung’s Korean support guidance says that whether Good Lock appears in Galaxy Store can be used as an availability check; if it cannot be found, the product may not be supported. This is a preliminary check, not a guarantee, and regional or model applicability can differ.
- If the app is unavailable, do not infer that installing a different component or relying on a general Android requirement will make the module compatible.
Separate a missing listing from a module that appears but does not work as expected. The Korean support guidance concerns availability, and Samsung notes that model and regional applicability can differ. Finding Good Lock in the store is therefore a useful first check, but not a promise that every module is offered or supported for that device. If the intended module is absent, check current Samsung guidance for the model and region rather than treating absence as a definitive technical verdict for every device.
The module installs but a feature malfunctions
- Write down the device model, One UI version, module name and installed module version. Note the exact feature and what happens when you try to use it.
- Open the module’s Galaxy Store page and review the current release notes and update history for a fix relevant to that feature or software version.
- Install an offered module update, then repeat the same action that failed. If Samsung documents the exact issue, follow the documented version and route rather than applying its fix to unrelated releases.
- If the problem remains, check Samsung’s current support guidance for the feature and module. If no source confirms the combination, describe compatibility as unresolved rather than as confirmed or impossible.
Keeping a short record avoids mixing different conditions together. For example, if the module update changes but the One UI version and device stay the same, you can tell whether that update affected the feature. If the device software changes too, note that as well. When looking for a matching Samsung note, compare the full set of details instead of matching only the module name.
The listing is vague or does not name your One UI version
Absence of a compatibility statement is not proof that the module fails, but it is also not evidence that it works. Compare the exact device and software details with any Samsung documentation you can find, and check again after module updates. Store visibility, installation and a general Android baseline are weaker signals than an explicit note for the particular module and device.
If the current listing and support material do not address your exact combination, use “unconfirmed” as the practical conclusion. That leaves room for the module to work without claiming support Samsung has not documented. Recheck when the module receives an update or when Samsung publishes new guidance, because the relevant evidence can change with software and module releases.

Compatibility information can change as Galaxy devices, One UI and individual Good Lock modules receive updates. Samsung’s Good Lock listing displayed version 3.0.16.6 dated July 14, 2026, when that listing was recorded; store content can change, so that date and version should not be treated as the current Good Lock release or as a compatibility guarantee. Use the listing and module update history available at the time you check, alongside the software information shown on your device.
Do not let an old version number, a past forum report or a one-time successful installation stand in for a current check. The useful comparison is always between the software installed now, the module version offered now, the device in question and the notes that apply to the feature. Repeating those checks after an update is more reliable than relying on a permanent compatibility table that may no longer describe the available software.
