Call fileChooser.isMultiple() on the chooser returned by Puppeteer’s page.waitForFileChooser(). It returns a boolean: true means the chooser allows multiple files; false means it does not. Start waiting before the page action that opens the chooser.
Get the chooser and check its multiple-file setting
Register the chooser wait and trigger the page action together. Puppeteer’s documented pattern uses Promise.all so the wait is already in place when the click opens the chooser:

Handle the chooser after checking it
An opened chooser must be resolved before another one can appear. Once you have checked it, either accept files or cancel it. If you leave the chooser unresolved, a later chooser can be blocked.

Accept files
accept() takes an array of file paths. It does not verify that the paths point to existing files:
await fileChooser.accept(['/absolute/path/to/file-one.txt']);Relative paths are resolved from the current working directory. When Puppeteer connects to a remote Chrome instance, use absolute paths. See the FileChooser.accept() reference.

Cancel the chooser
If the check is all you need and you do not want to upload anything, cancel the chooser:

- The wait times out or misses the chooser:
waitForFileChooser()does not return an already-active chooser. Set up the wait before the click or other action that opens it; thePromise.allexample above does this. - A later chooser never appears: Resolve the previously opened chooser with
accept()orcancel()before opening another. - File selection fails despite a successful check:
isMultiple()reports the chooser’s selection setting; it does not check whether file paths exist. Confirm the paths and use absolute paths for remote Chrome. - The page uses
window.showOpenFilePicker(): Puppeteer documents that interception of file dialogs opened through DOM APIs such as this is not supported. The documented chooser approach therefore does not cover that dialog type.
In headful mode, the native picker dialog does not appear to the user while Puppeteer handles the chooser. See the Puppeteer Page API documentation for the documented interception limits.
