Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →On a computer, open YouTube Studio and go to Content → Live. Select the stream, open Analytics, then choose the individual-video or channel scope and the Live content filter that matches what you want to measure. YouTube documents watch-time reports for both videos and channels, but its help pages do not confirm that Analytics shows a cumulative watch-time total for an individual broadcast while a 24/7 stream is still live.
Check watch time for a completed live stream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
- From the left menu, select Content, then the Live tab.
- Select the relevant stream and open Analytics.
- Choose the report scope: the individual video for that broadcast, or the channel for a channel-wide total.
- Set the content filter to Live to focus on live content. Choose Live & on demand if you want the report to include both live and on-demand viewing.
- Open the watch-time report. YouTube says report data can be downloaded as a CSV.
YouTube defines post-stream Total watch time as the total time the event was played across all views. Stream metrics become available in Analytics within minutes after the stream ends; YouTube does not specify an exact processing delay.
What to use while the 24/7 broadcast is still running
For a live broadcast, use Live Control Room for the real-time metrics YouTube documents. These include concurrent viewers, duration, views and average view duration for encoder streams. Concurrent viewers are a real-time audience measure, not cumulative watch time.
YouTube’s documentation does not establish whether the Analytics page for an individual video displays a cumulative watch-time total before that 24/7 broadcast ends. If you need the completed event’s watch time, check its video-level Analytics after it ends. For a channel aggregate, select channel scope in Analytics.

Why Live Control Room and Analytics can show different figures
- Timing: Live Control Room provides real-time stream metrics; Analytics reporting is processed after the stream ends.
- Data handling: YouTube says Analytics data is based on Video ID and is processed and despammed. It can therefore differ from Live Control Room figures.
- Metric: Total watch time accumulates viewing time across views. Concurrent viewers count people watching at a point in time, while average view duration is a separate measure.
For the dedicated live-stream Engagement view on a computer, use Content → Live → select the stream → Analytics → Engagement. It includes metrics such as concurrent viewers and chat messages; do not treat those as a substitute for total watch time.
Check vertical-stream metrics for a dual broadcast
If you ran a dual horizontal and vertical broadcast, YouTube combines metrics for both in Live Control Room. Metrics for just the vertical stream become available 24 hours after the stream ends.

Common watch-time questions and reporting limits
Does Analytics show the current cumulative watch time for an ongoing 24/7 stream?
YouTube’s documentation does not say that it does. Live Control Room is the documented place for real-time stream metrics; use the Analytics watch-time report after the broadcast ends for the completed video.
Should I choose Live or Live & on demand?
Use Live to isolate live-stream content. Use Live & on demand when the intended figure should include both live and on-demand viewing.

Will a stream restart or interruption appear as one total?
YouTube describes Analytics data as based on Video ID, but its documentation does not explain whether separate events, restarts or interruptions are consolidated into a single continuous-stream total. Check the relevant video entries and channel report rather than assuming they have been combined.
Why do I not see exactly the same number in the two interfaces?
Analytics uses processed, despammed data and Live Control Room supplies real-time metrics, so the figures may differ. Also confirm that you are comparing the same scope and metric.
