How to Check PERM Processing Times and Track a Labor Certification Case

Use DOL’s FLAG Processing Times page for queue snapshots and Case Status Search for an individual PERM case. Learn how to search with the full case number and when older filings use the legacy PLC site.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

Use the U.S. Department of Labor’s FLAG Processing Times page to see the current PERM queue dates and average decision times, then use FLAG Case Status Search to look up a specific application. Enter the complete case number, including its dashes. The queue figures are snapshots of groups of cases—not a promised decision date for yours.

Check the queue and your case separately

PERM is the Department of Labor’s permanent labor certification process. Its two official FLAG tools answer different questions:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Processing Times: shows the filing months or appeal-request month currently being adjudicated in specified queues, along with a recent average determination time where reported. This is aggregate information.
  • Case Status Search: searches for the status of an individual case using its case number. This is the tool to use when you want to check a particular application.

Start with the Processing Times page to understand the broad queue. Then search the individual case if you have its number. Do not treat a queue date or average as the date your case will be decided: cases in the same broad queue can differ, and OFLC says individual processing may vary with the material facts and circumstances of each application.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These tools are free government resources; a paid tracker or commercial service is not required to perform a basic status lookup. The distinction matters: a queue page can help answer “How long is PERM taking right now?” but it cannot tell you the exact next step or decision date for one employer’s filing. For that, use the individual case search or, when the stated age threshold is met, the contact guidance on the live Processing Times page.

What the latest posted PERM figures mean

As displayed on the OFLC Processing Times page on October 5, 2026, the PERM rows showed the following. These are dated snapshots, not forecasts.

Queue or measure Figure displayed What the figure represents
Analyst Review queue December 2025 priority date The filing month and year of cases currently being adjudicated in Analyst Review.
Audit Review queue December 2025 priority date The filing month and year of cases currently being adjudicated in Audit Review.
Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer queue May 2026 appeal-request month The month and year of requests currently being adjudicated in this reconsideration queue.
Average Analyst Review determination time 336 calendar days The average determination time reported for August 2026.
Average Audit Review determination time Not reported for August 2026 The page listed no average Audit Review determination time for that month.

The first three entries are queue positions expressed as months; they are not average durations. The 336-day entry is an average duration for Analyst Review determinations reported for August 2026. The reconsideration row is keyed to appeal-request month, not the application’s filing priority date. These measures answer different questions, so comparing “December 2025” directly with “336 calendar days” would be misleading.

For clarity, the statistics can be named with their reporting context: 336 calendar days — Office of Foreign Labor Certification, 2026 is the August 2026 Analyst Review average shown on the page as of October 5, 2026. December 2025 — Office of Foreign Labor Certification, 2026 is the Analyst Review and Audit Review queue date shown that day. May 2026 — Office of Foreign Labor Certification, 2026 is the reconsideration-request queue month. Each label describes a different row, rather than a single overall PERM wait time.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

OFLC explains that the listed dates reflect the month and year of applications or requests it is currently adjudicating, and that it may complete cases filed earlier than the date shown. It also cautions: “Actual processing times for each employer’s PERM application may vary from the average depending on material facts and individual circumstances of the case.” Accordingly, a case with an earlier filing month is not necessarily overdue, and a case with a later filing month is not necessarily on track for a particular decision date. The posted queue does not establish the position of an individual application in every respect.

PERM timing information is updated monthly. The Processing Times page says PERM data is updated at the close of business at the end of the first work week of each month, using data through midnight Eastern Time on the first of the month. Always note the page’s displayed “as of” date when you consult it. A figure copied from an earlier month may no longer describe the current queue. Because the update is periodic, a page viewed shortly before the next scheduled update may continue to show the prior snapshot; that does not mean an individual case has stopped moving.

How to compare the rows without mixing them up

Before comparing two figures, check three things: the procedural queue, the date type, and the measurement. Analyst Review and Audit Review are separate queues. Reconsideration is a different procedural stage, and its posted month refers to appeal requests. A queue month identifies the month and year being reached in that category; an average in calendar days summarizes completed determinations for a stated reporting month. A figure marked “N/A” is not an estimate of zero days or proof that the queue has no cases; it means the page did not report an average for that measure and month.

For example, if a reader sees December 2025 in the Analyst Review row and 336 calendar days in the average row, those numbers cannot be combined to calculate a personal completion date. The first is a queue snapshot and the second an average of determinations reported for August 2026. Neither states where one application falls within the queue or how long that specific case will take.

How to check an individual PERM case in FLAG

  1. Find the full case number. Use the complete PERM case number, preserving every character and dash. FLAG release notes state that external filers can search by the full case number including dashes. If you are the employer or authorized filer, use the number associated with the submitted application.
  2. Open the official Case Status Search page. Go to FLAG Case Status Search. The page supports PERM searches and provides a field for case numbers.
  3. Enter the number and search. Enter the entire number rather than a partial sequence. The current page supports entering up to 30 case numbers, one per line, which can be useful to an external filer checking several cases.
  4. Check the filing date if the search does not fit your case. Applications filed before May 31, 2023 are directed by the Case Status Search page to the legacy PLC site at plc.doleta.gov. Use that legacy route for those older filings rather than assuming the current FLAG search covers them.
  5. Record what the result actually says. Note the case identifier and displayed status, and compare it with the relevant processing-time queue only as general context. The queue month does not replace the individual case result.

The official case search is free; a commercial tracking service is not required to perform this lookup. Use the government page rather than an unofficial result that may be stale or may not correspond to the full case number.

If you are checking several cases, the limit of 30 numbers per submission can make a single lookup more convenient, but enter one full case number on each line. Do not leave out dashes or rely on a partial number to identify a case. If a query returns no expected result, first verify the number against the employer’s submitted application record, then confirm whether the filing date puts it on the legacy PLC route. These are practical first checks, not proof that the case was denied or lost.

Checking a case through a FLAG account

Employers and filers who submitted an application through a FLAG account can also use the account’s case-management tools. The FLAG Frequently Asked Questions explains that a new application generally remains in “pre-submitted” status for under fifteen minutes before a permanent case number becomes available. After it becomes available, the filer can open Case Details to view the submitted application PDF or take actions made available for that case.

A finalized PERM determination appears in the Historical table under My Cases, according to the same FAQ. This is useful when a filer is looking for a case that is no longer among active cases: check the historical records rather than interpreting its absence from the active list as proof that no determination exists. Account holders should distinguish a draft or pre-submitted application from a submitted case with a permanent case number.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The distinction also helps avoid a common source of confusion for a newly created application. “Pre-submitted” is a status before the permanent case number is available; it is not the same thing as an adjudication result. Once the permanent number appears, use it for the individual search and use Case Details for the submitted application record and actions available to the account holder. The under-fifteen-minute description is typical, not a guarantee of an exact transition time for every filing.

Which route to use for common situations

  • You want to know how long PERM is taking overall: consult the Processing Times page, record its as-of date, and look at the queue matching the case’s procedural stage. Read the date type and any average separately.
  • You want the status of one application: use Case Status Search with its full number, including dashes.
  • The application was filed before May 31, 2023: follow the Case Status Search page’s instruction to use the legacy PLC status site.
  • You filed through a FLAG account and need the application PDF or an available case action: sign in and use Case Details after a permanent case number is available.
  • The case has a final determination and is not in the active case list: check the Historical table under My Cases.
  • The filing is older than the posted queue month by more than three months: the Processing Times page says the filer may contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk for a status.

What to do if the case is not appearing or the result is unclear

Confirm the number and the filing system

Check the case number against the submitted application or other official case record. Include the dashes and avoid searching with only a partial number. If the application was filed before May 31, 2023, use the legacy PLC route identified by FLAG. These checks address the two common mismatches between a query and the official search: an incomplete identifier or the wrong status system for the filing date.

Allow for a new filing to receive its permanent number

If you are the FLAG account holder and the application was just created, it may still show “pre-submitted.” FLAG says this stage usually lasts under fifteen minutes before the permanent case number becomes available. Once it is available, use Case Details for the submitted case. The stated timing is a typical description, not a guarantee that every application changes status at an exact minute.

Do not infer a decision date from the queue

If the individual search does not show a result you expected, the Processing Times page cannot confirm what happened to that particular application. It gives queue-level data, and the displayed month is not a personal case tracker. Check the case-specific result and filing route, then use the helpdesk guidance below if the age of the filing meets the page’s stated threshold.

Know which person can access the account

FLAG account tools are for the employer or filer using the account. A worker who does not hold that account may need to ask the employer or its authorized representative for the complete case number and current information. A third-party tracking product cannot change the Department of Labor’s record or provide the account’s Case Details unless the appropriate filer shares the information. Keep the case number accurate when asking the account holder to check.

When to contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk

The current Processing Times page says that if a PERM application was filed more than three months before the month posted, the filer may contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk for a status. It lists [email protected] and [email protected]. Before writing, check the live page for the current threshold and contact details, since both the queue information and listed guidance can change.

Use a concise inquiry that identifies the case and asks for a status; do not assume that contacting the helpdesk will accelerate adjudication, produce a particular answer, or result in a response within a set period. The page does not promise a response time or a particular outcome. The filer should use the official contact information, not treat an online average as a substitute for a case-specific status response.

The three-month guidance is a point at which the filer may inquire, not a promise that OFLC will issue a decision or a declaration that a case is late. Compare the filing date with the month posted on the live page and apply the wording there; do not use a queue figure from an old screenshot. If the case is not beyond the page’s stated threshold, continue to use Case Status Search and check again as appropriate. If contacting OFLC, use the full case number and identify the matter clearly, while avoiding unnecessary personal information in an email.

Who controls a PERM application

PERM is an employer process, not an application that a worker can independently revise in FLAG. The FLAG PERM overview says an employer must obtain a prevailing wage determination before filing and register a Login.gov account and a FLAG account before submitting online. This context matters when deciding who should check account details or take an available case action: the employer or authorized filer is the appropriate account user.

A worker can ask the employer or its authorized filer for the full case number and current case information. If the question concerns how the facts of a particular employment-based immigration matter affect the case, a qualified immigration attorney may be appropriate. Legal advice is different from a status lookup, and hiring counsel does not make the Department of Labor’s queue move faster or guarantee certification.

The order of operations is important: the employer obtains a prevailing wage determination before filing, and must have the Login.gov and FLAG accounts needed to submit online. A worker looking for a case number or status should not assume they can independently change the employer’s application through a public lookup page. Case Status Search is for checking; account-based case actions remain tied to the appropriate filer and the options available for that case.

A practical way to read the monthly page

  1. Start with the as-of date. Confirm when the data was displayed, rather than relying on an undated figure in a post or message.
  2. Identify the procedural row. Analyst Review, Audit Review, and reconsideration are separate queues. Do not assume a figure for one applies to another.
  3. Read the date label. Analyst and Audit Review queue months refer to the filing priority month shown for cases being adjudicated; the reconsideration row is an appeal-request month.
  4. Separate queue dates from averages. A queue date describes which cases are currently being reached in that grouping. An average duration summarizes determinations in a stated reporting month. Neither is an individual guarantee.
  5. Use the case tool for the individual result. Search the complete case number in the correct system. Use the account’s Case Details and Historical table if you filed through FLAG.

This sequence prevents the most common timing mistake: turning a public queue snapshot into a predicted completion date for one employer’s application.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my PERM case status?

Open FLAG Case Status Search and enter the complete case number, including dashes. The page allows up to 30 case numbers, one per line. If the filing was made before May 31, 2023, follow the page’s direction to the legacy PLC status site. A FLAG account filer can also open Case Details for a submitted case.

Where do I find the PERM processing time?

Use the official OFLC Processing Times page. Note its as-of date and select the row for the relevant queue. It reports queue months and, when available, average determination days; those are distinct measurements, not an individual case forecast.

How long is PERM taking right now?

On October 5, 2026, the page showed December 2025 for both Analyst Review and Audit Review, May 2026 for reconsideration requests, and a 336-calendar-day August 2026 Analyst Review average. Audit Review had no average listed for August 2026. Check the live page for current figures because these snapshots change monthly.

What if my PERM case is older than the posted processing date?

First confirm the correct queue, filing date, and individual status. OFLC says it may complete cases filed earlier than the displayed date, so being older than the month shown does not itself establish that a case is overdue. The page says a filer may contact the PERM Helpdesk when the application was filed more than three months before the month posted; check the current page for the exact guidance and contact details.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I speed up a PERM case by using a paid tracker or contacting the helpdesk?

No such service or inquiry is shown as a way to accelerate DOL adjudication. The official tools are free, and the Helpdesk page does not promise a response time or outcome. A paid tracker is not necessary for the basic lookup, and counsel may advise on a fact-specific legal question but cannot guarantee certification or a faster queue position.

Why is the average not the same as my expected wait?

The average is a summary for determinations reported in a particular month; the queue date shows the month and year of cases currently being adjudicated. Your case’s facts and circumstances may differ, and OFLC specifically warns that individual processing can vary. Neither figure tells you a guaranteed decision date for your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the official way to check a PERM case?

Use FLAG Case Status Search with the complete case number, including dashes. Pre-May 31, 2023 filings are directed to the legacy PLC site.

How often are PERM processing times updated?

OFLC says PERM processing times are updated at the close of business at the end of the first work week of each month, using data through midnight Eastern Time on the first.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the posted queue date mean my case will be decided by then?

No. It describes the month and year currently being adjudicated in that queue, not an individual deadline. OFLC says case timing may vary based on material facts and individual circumstances.

When may I contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk?

The Processing Times page says a filer may contact the Helpdesk if the application was filed more than three months before the month posted. Verify the live page for current contact information and guidance.

The Bottom Line

Use FLAG Processing Times for a dated view of the PERM queues and Case Status Search for the individual case. Search with the full case number, use the legacy PLC site for filings before May 31, 2023, and treat queue months and averages as context—not a promised decision date. If the case meets the current page’s more-than-three-month threshold, the filer may contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk using the contact details listed there.
