Use GSTAT’s official website and select Case Status, or open its e-filing portal. Case Status shows a matter’s progress; the Cause List shows scheduled hearings; and the Display Board shows hearings in progress. Use the service that matches the update you need, then verify hearing details on the official portal.
Check a GSTAT case status
-
Open the GSTAT Government of India website and choose Case Status, or go directly to the GSTAT e-filing portal. Check that you are on an official GSTAT government domain before entering case details.

Enter the identifier requested by the current search form. The portal homepage has an ARN/CRN lookup entry point, while the e-filing user manual documents a case-list verification workflow using a filing number. These identifiers are not necessarily interchangeable across every search function, so follow the fields shown for the service you are using.

Open the matching matter and review its displayed status or stage and any linked case documents. GSTAT describes case status as progress from filing to disposal. Orders may be available separately through the portal’s Orders/Judgement service.
Choose the right service for hearing updates
| Service | What it tells you | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Case Status | The matter’s stage or progress from filing to disposal. | To check where a case stands procedurally. |
| Cause List | Cases scheduled to be heard; the e-filing portal describes a warned list of cases about to be listed. | To confirm a scheduled hearing or listing. |
| Display Board | Real-time information about hearings in progress in the respective court rooms. | To follow live activity on a hearing day, rather than to confirm a future schedule. |
| Orders/Judgement | Orders and judgments published through the separate service. | To look for an order after a matter has been heard. |
The official GSTAT website and e-filing portal provide these services. A hearing listing and a published order are different updates, so check the relevant service for each.
Use listing notifications, then verify online
GSTAT’s FAQ and advisory page says parties registered on the e-filing portal, or users with valid credentials, receive an SMS or email with the listing date after cause lists are finalized. Treat an alert as a prompt to check the published Cause List, rather than as a replacement for the official listing.

Confirm whether the hearing is physical or electronic
GSTAT’s Help Center says hearings may be physical or electronic, but an electronic hearing requires permission from a GSTAT Member. Do not assume a scheduled matter can be attended virtually; check the case-specific direction or contact the Tribunal through its official help route.

The GSTAT Procedure Rules, 2025 state that cases are called in the serial order of the Cause List, subject to Bench orders. That does not guarantee an exact call time or when a digital status entry will update. The rules also assign Registry officers responsibility for promptly communicating Bench directions or orders.

The e-filing portal currently displays an advisory about filing scope for specified APL-1/APL-3 appeals or RVN-1 notices dated from 1 January 2017 through 31 January 2022. This is a scope-specific filing advisory, not a general rule for checking every case’s status. If you are filing, consult the current advisory on the official portal.

Recheck the identifier and make sure you used the search field intended for that number; the ARN/CRN entry point and filing-number workflow serve distinct search functions.

Try the relevant service directly from the e-filing portal, such as Case Status, Cause List, or Orders/Judgement, rather than treating a missing listing as proof that no update exists.
