To view Garmin skin-temperature tracking, use a compatible watch or band as your primary wearable, wear it to sleep for at least three nights, then open Garmin Connect > More > Health Stats > Sleep. The feature shows an average nightly deviation from your personal baseline—not a clinical body-temperature or fever reading.
What Garmin skin-temperature tracking measures
Garmin describes the feature as tracking skin-temperature changes during the sleep window. After at least three nights of wear, Garmin Connect can display your average nightly skin-temperature deviation from your normal baseline. Garmin says that baseline becomes more accurate as you wear the device for more nights. Garmin Support explains the feature and its setup requirements.

Read the result as a personal trend. It is not presented as core body temperature, a fever measurement, or a diagnosis. Garmin says changes may be related to activity, illness, and other factors; the metric by itself does not establish why your skin temperature changed.

How to view your skin-temperature deviation
- Check compatibility. Confirm your exact watch or band appears on Garmin’s support list.
- Set it as your primary wearable. In Garmin Connect, make the compatible device your primary wearable. Garmin says a non-primary device will not display the temperature changes.
- Wear it while sleeping. Wear the device for at least three nights before expecting an average nightly deviation. Keep wearing it overnight to build the personal baseline.
- Open the sleep view. In Garmin Connect, go to More (lower right) > Health Stats > Sleep, then look for the skin-temperature information.
Some compatible watches also provide the metric through the Health Status glance. Enable that glance if needed and open it on the watch. Garmin also documents Health Status in Garmin Connect or on its website under More/menu > Health Stats > Health Status. Availability can depend on the compatible device and software.

Why Garmin skin-temperature data may be missing

Verify the exact model on Garmin’s compatibility page rather than relying on the product family name.
- The device may not be primary. Garmin says skin-temperature changes will not display for a compatible wearable that is not set as the primary device.
- You may need more sleep sessions. Garmin’s stated minimum for the average nightly skin-temperature deviation is three nights of wear.
- You may be looking in a different view. Check Garmin Connect’s Sleep page; on supported watches, also check the Health Status glance.
There is a separate, longer calibration period for Health Status: Garmin says it takes about 3–4 weeks of sleep wear to establish typical ranges for Health Status metrics. That guidance is not the same as the three-night threshold Garmin gives for the skin-temperature deviation in Sleep. See Garmin’s Health Status support page.

How to interpret the result responsibly
Use the deviation as context about your own overnight pattern, not as a standalone explanation of how you feel. Garmin identifies activity, illness, and other factors as possible influences. The reviewed Garmin support material does not provide a clinical accuracy figure or a diagnostic threshold for this skin-temperature metric.
Garmin warns that Health Status data “is not intended to be used for medical purposes, nor is it intended to diagnose, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.” If you feel unwell, do not use a wearable trend to diagnose the cause; seek appropriate medical advice.

- Engineered with a supertough 45 mm fiber-reinforced polymer case and metal-reinforced bezel
- Built-in LED flashlight with variable intensities and strobe modes gives you greater visibility in the outdoors and provides convenient illumination when you need it
- Know your body better with health monitoring features, including wrist-based heart rate, advanced sleep monitoring, Pulse Ox and more (this is not a medical device, and data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked; Pulse Ox not available in all countries)

Skin temperature is not ambient temperature
Garmin’s tempe accessory sends ambient-temperature data to compatible watches. That is a separate measurement and use case from overnight skin-temperature tracking; pairing a tempe sensor does not enable the skin-temperature feature. Garmin explains the accessory distinction in its tempe pairing guidance.
