To check Dataverse for Teams usage, open the Power Platform admin center → Licensing → Capacity and select the Microsoft Teams tab. It shows storage usage for Teams environments you can access; it is separate from the general Dataverse capacity report. Microsoft documents 2 GB of relational database storage per Dataverse for Teams environment and describes up to 1 million rows as an approximate figure based on typical usage—not a guaranteed limit for each table. Microsoft does not publish a maximum table count for an environment.
Where to check Dataverse for Teams environment storage
- Open the Power Platform admin center.
- Go to Licensing → Capacity.
- Select the Microsoft Teams tab to view usage for Teams environments available to your signed-in admin account.
- Search by environment name or type to narrow the list. The view also supports downloading a high-level CSV for environments you can access.
Admin-center labels can change. If the navigation differs, look for the dedicated capacity view and its Microsoft Teams tab. The Dataverse tab reports general Dataverse capacity; its database, file, and log breakdowns and table-consumption reporting should not be treated as the usage report for a Dataverse for Teams environment. Microsoft says Teams environment capacity does not count toward the organization’s Dataverse usage.

How much storage does Dataverse for Teams have?
Microsoft describes 2 GB of relational database storage per Dataverse for Teams environment. Each such environment maps one-to-one to a Microsoft Teams team, so the published allowance is associated with that environment/team. See Microsoft’s Dataverse for Teams overview and Power Platform licensing FAQs.
The Teams capacity view is the place to check your organization’s actual usage. Public documentation cannot show the usage of a particular tenant, and the view only covers environments the signed-in admin can access.

How many rows can a Dataverse for Teams table hold?
Microsoft describes capacity as supporting up to 1 million rows or records based on typical usage, with the 2 GB storage limit enforcing the practical capacity. This is an approximate environment-level figure, not a promise that every table can hold one million rows or a separate fixed row quota for each table. Actual row capacity depends on how much storage the data uses.
Is there a maximum number of tables?
The Microsoft documentation cited here does not state a maximum number of tables per Dataverse for Teams environment. The published row estimate is not a table-count limit. Use the Teams capacity view to monitor storage rather than interpreting general Dataverse table-consumption reporting as a Teams-specific table limit.

What happens when an environment or tenant reaches its limit?
Microsoft distinguishes an individual environment’s storage limit from the tenant-level Dataverse for Teams service limit. The restrictions concern creating or installing new resources; reaching a threshold does not mean existing solutions automatically stop working.
Recommended Free Tools
| Limit reached | Microsoft’s documented restriction |
|---|---|
| Individual environment | At the 2 GB limit, new solutions such as apps, chatbots, and flows cannot be created or installed in that environment. Existing solutions continue to work, and the environment can grow beyond 2 GB. |
| Tenant service limit | New apps, chatbots, flows, and tables cannot be created or installed across Dataverse for Teams environments, and new Dataverse for Teams environments cannot be created. |
Microsoft’s licensing FAQ says existing solutions continue to work, including create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) operations, after a limit is reached. Do not interpret the 2 GB figure as an automatic shutdown or as a blanket prohibition on all record activity.

When do capacity warnings arrive?
Microsoft’s governance guidance says makers are notified as an environment approaches 80% capacity, while tenant admins are notified when the tenant is reaching 80%. These notifications provide a reason to review usage before creation restrictions apply. See Microsoft’s Dataverse for Teams governance guidance (last updated September 3, 2025).

Microsoft says these capacity limits cannot be extended by simply purchasing extra Dataverse for Teams capacity. Admins can review usage and consider cleaning up inactive environments. If a solution needs more capacity, capabilities, or control, Microsoft documents upgrading an environment to Dataverse; that route has licensing implications, which should be checked against the organization’s current subscriptions.

Dataverse for Teams is designed for use in Teams. Microsoft says an environment must be upgraded for use outside the Teams client. When deciding whether to upgrade, consider the solution’s storage growth, whether it must run outside Teams, the capabilities and governance controls it requires, and the applicable Power Platform licensing.
