Before depositing or trading for a crypto bonus, open the official terms for the exact offer shown to you. Check when you qualify, who is eligible, how the reward is paid, whether it can be withdrawn, and what happens if you move funds out. A bonus may be delayed, released in installments, or subject to a balance condition or clawback; the word “bonus” alone does not tell you whether the funds are freely withdrawable.
Start with the terms for your exact offer
Use the official terms linked from the offer in your app, email, or account—not a third-party summary or another person’s screenshot. An exchange may show individualized rates, caps, or qualification periods. Coinbase, for example, says its “Bonus Details” may appear in an offer email, in-app notification, bonus screen, or Rewards Hub, and may be specific to the user (Coinbase funding-bonus terms).

Save the offer and its terms, including the date you viewed them. Then check that the qualification dates and rules still apply before you make a deposit, trade, or subscription commitment. Campaign terms can expire, and examples below illustrate how rules are written rather than establish that an offer is currently available.

Check eligibility before doing anything that costs money
Look for the conditions that determine whether you can participate and receive the reward. Terms may vary by campaign, account, and location.

- Genuine Check: confirm your signer is authentic during setup with the Ledger Wallet app.
- Protect your signer: keep it in mint condition at all times with a bespoke Pod or Case to avoid scratches and everyday wear and tear.
- Location and age: Check eligible countries or states and the applicable age threshold. Do not assume an offer is available wherever the exchange operates.
- Account status: Find out whether the offer is for new customers only, whether an account must be in good standing, and whether identity verification must be completed by a deadline.
- Membership and account limits: Look for subscription requirements and limits such as one reward per person, household, or account.
- Review and exclusion clauses: Check what happens if an account is restricted or closed, a deposit is reversed, your location changes, or the sponsor suspects abuse or a terms violation.
For example, a Kraken U.S. promotion’s terms specified U.S. residency excluding New York and Maine, a new consumer account, identity verification, and the applicable age threshold. That promotion ran from October 28 to December 4, 2025, so it is an example of eligibility wording, not a current offer (Kraken U.S. Exclusive Promo terms).
Translate “qualifying deposit” or “trade” into specific actions
Do not rely on a headline saying “deposit” or “trade.” Find the minimum amount, eligible asset and transaction type, source of funds, deadline, and exclusions. Check whether an action must be completed, settled, and credited before the qualification window closes.
- Does the deposit need to come from an account or wallet in your own name?
- Are spot trades required, or do other products count? Are margin, futures, staking, transfers, or conversions excluded?
- Must several deposits or trades total a minimum amount? How is their value calculated?
- Can withdrawals or reversed payments cancel eligibility or reduce the qualifying total?
Kraken’s cited 2025 U.S. offer required at least $100 in qualifying spot crypto trades during its promotion period. Its rules excluded specified activity including futures, margin, staking, stablecoin-to-stablecoin conversions, off-platform transfers, wash trades, self-dealing, referral gaming, and VPN circumvention. These are campaign-specific terms, not universal definitions of a qualifying trade (Kraken U.S. Exclusive Promo terms).

Separate a reward withdrawal hold from a balance condition
Search the terms for “withdraw,” “outflow,” “hold,” “maintenance,” “minimum balance,” “reclaim,” “forfeit,” “reverse,” and “clawback.” Then identify which assets are restricted and what event triggers a consequence.
A hold on the reward itself
A withdrawal hold means the reward cannot be withdrawn for a stated period after credit, even if the reward appears in your account. Kraken’s separate margin incentive rules specify a 30-day withdrawal hold from the date the reward is credited (Kraken Margin Incentive rules). The cited rules also warn that margin uses leverage, can amplify gains and losses, and can lead to losses exceeding the initial investment; do not treat a margin-linked bonus as a risk-free reward.
A condition to keep funds or maintain a balance
A maintenance condition is different: it may allow transactions but require a minimum balance or positive net deposit over time. Falling below the condition can reduce, forfeit, or trigger recovery of the reward. Read how the terms calculate outflows, whether principal withdrawals count, and whether a fee or withdrawal block can apply.

Crypto.com’s cited campaign FAQ describes a 12-month minimum-balance condition tied to net eligible deposits plus the bonus. It says a pro-rata fee may apply to claw back the bonus if the balance falls below the condition, and withdrawals can be blocked if the balance cannot cover applicable fees. The FAQ also says booster eligibility differs by jurisdiction; follow the full terms for your campaign and location (Crypto.com campaign FAQ).

Record whether the reward is a fixed amount or percentage, whether it has a cap or tiers, which currency is delivered, and when it is credited. If it is paid in a volatile cryptoasset, its market value can change. Check whether payment arrives all at once or in installments, and whether each installment has separate conditions.
Coinbase’s funding-bonus terms cover multiple offers, including archived or closed periods. Some listed offers release bonuses in equal monthly installments; certain outflow transactions during a bonus period may reduce or lead to reclamation of a bonus. Some offers also require retaining assets on Coinbase or maintaining a Coinbase One subscription. Those provisions differ by offer, so the general terms page does not establish that a particular offer is available to you now (Coinbase funding-bonus terms).

Compare offers by their rules, not the headline amount
If you are reviewing more than one offer, record the same details for each. A larger stated reward can come with a longer maintenance period, more trading, a subscription, or greater exposure to market and product risk.
| What to compare | What to record |
|---|---|
| Qualification | Required deposit or trade amount, eligible source and action, settlement deadline, and exclusions. |
| Timing | Qualification window, expected payout date, any reward withdrawal hold, installment schedule, and balance-maintenance period. |
| Eligibility | Country or state, age, new or existing account, identity verification, membership, and account-standing conditions. |
| Withdrawal consequences | Whether withdrawing principal affects a net-deposit calculation, causes a fee, blocks withdrawals, or triggers a clawback. |
| Reward | Currency, fixed or percentage value, cap or tier, payout timing, and exposure to price changes. |
| Cost and risk | Trading fees and spread, subscription fees, required market exposure, and leverage or other product risks. |
| Enforcement | Rules for reversals, account closure, suspected abuse, and sponsor discretion to withhold or reclaim a reward. |
Use offer examples only as illustrations
Specific campaign examples show why the details matter, but their numbers should not be treated as general exchange rules or current opportunities.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Binance.US’s cited Rare Evo offer required qualifying deposits and/or trades totaling at least $100 within 14 days of signup, then a positive net deposit maintained for 30 days and/or qualifying trades under its stated formulation. It defined net deposit as deposits less withdrawals, valued in USD at transaction time during the maintenance period. Its terms listed reward tiers, account-standing and distribution conditions, and possible disqualification or clawback for invalid or reversed activity and specified abuse. The listed distribution deadline was October 1, 2026, which has passed as of October 3, 2026; this is a terms-reading example, not a current signup opportunity (Binance.US Rare Evo offer terms).
- The Kraken U.S. Exclusive Promo example was a $50 BTC reward for at least $100 in qualifying spot trades, but its 2025 promotion period has ended. Its exclusions and clawback clauses applied to that campaign alone (Kraken U.S. Exclusive Promo terms).
Account for costs, risk, and local rules
A bonus amount does not show whether an offer is worthwhile. Consider trading fees, spread, subscription cost, potential price movement, required time in the account, and the risk of any required product or market exposure. Do not trade, borrow, subscribe, or leave assets on an exchange solely because a reward is advertised.
Rules for promotions and cryptoassets depend on jurisdiction. In the UK, the Financial Conduct Authority says cryptoasset promotions to UK consumers must include clear risk warnings and be clear, fair, and not misleading; it also recommends checking its Warning List before making a crypto investment (FCA: new rules for marketing cryptoassets). These are UK-specific protections, not a statement of the rules elsewhere. Tax treatment also depends on jurisdiction and circumstances; keep records of any reward and consult appropriate local guidance.
