In Chrome, open DevTools, switch on the Device Toolbar, choose Responsive, and set the viewport width to 360. That value is 360 CSS pixels—not necessarily 360 physical screen pixels. Use the result to inspect your layout and breakpoints; treat desktop emulation as a first pass, then test on a real phone if device-specific behavior matters.
Set a 360 CSS-pixel viewport in Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome and open DevTools.
- Toggle the Device Toolbar.
- In the dimensions controls, select Responsive.
- Enter 360 for the width. Choose a height that makes sense for the content or state you are checking; width is the key condition here.
- Keep the page open at that size while inspecting its layout and interactions.
Chrome Responsive mode accepts manually entered dimensions. See Chrome’s Device Mode guide for the controls and emulation options.

Confirm the page uses the mobile viewport
Inspect the page source or DOM for a viewport declaration such as <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">. The width=device-width setting makes the page viewport fit the device width; CSS media queries can then adapt the layout. Without suitable viewport metadata, a mobile browser may lay out a page at a wider, desktop-like width and scale it down, making the page look small rather than reflowing as intended.
For background, see Android Developers’ guidance on supporting different screens in web apps and Chrome’s Lighthouse viewport guidance.

What to inspect at 360 pixels
Check the actual page, not just its first screen. Look for problems such as:
- Horizontal scrolling, clipped text, or content extending beyond the viewport.
- Headers and navigation that overlap, disappear unexpectedly, or become difficult to use.
- Body text or controls that appear scaled down rather than laid out for a narrow screen.
- Forms, buttons, menus, and dialogs that overlap or are difficult to reach.
- Images and cards that overflow, become distorted, or leave awkward gaps.
These are practical checks for the requested layout condition, not a claim that every issue will appear on every device. Use a site’s relevant page states too: open menus, forms, dialogs, and other interactive elements rather than checking only the default view.

Find the breakpoints affecting the layout
In Device Toolbar options, turn on the media-query display. Inspect which CSS breakpoint rules are active at 360 pixels. If a visible layout change occurs at a breakpoint, test just below and just above it as well; this helps distinguish a 360-pixel-specific defect from a transition problem.

CSS pixels, device pixel ratio, and orientation
The 360 entered in Responsive mode is a CSS-pixel viewport width. Device pixel ratio (DPR) is separate: it describes how CSS pixels map to physical display pixels. A high-density screen can use more physical pixels to draw the same CSS-pixel layout. Adjust DPR when testing image sharpness or other density-sensitive graphics; it does not replace setting the CSS viewport width.
Test landscape orientation if it is relevant to your site’s use. The useful conditions depend on what you are validating: viewport width, DPR, orientation, and behavior around CSS breakpoints are separate checks.

Know what emulation can and cannot tell you
Device Mode is an approximation. A desktop computer does not run the page on a real mobile CPU, so emulation alone cannot establish how a particular phone behaves. Chrome provides CPU and network throttling to make an initial emulation pass more demanding, but use a real phone when touch behavior, mobile-browser differences, performance, or a specific device is material to the defect. Chrome explains these limits in its Device Mode documentation.

Choosing checks for Indian visitors
A 360 CSS-pixel test is a clear, repeatable condition, but the available guidance does not establish that it is the single or statistically typical width for Indian phones. Do not treat it as a profile of the whole Indian audience. Check your own audience analytics or representative user research to decide which additional widths, devices, and browsers matter for your site.

When expanding the test set, include widths around your real CSS breakpoints, portrait and landscape where relevant, and a physical device if the behavior depends on mobile hardware. DPR is a separate variable from viewport width.
Troubleshooting a 360-pixel check
- The page still looks like a tiny desktop site: inspect the DOM for a viewport meta tag with
width=device-width. Without appropriate viewport metadata, mobile browsers may render at a wider layout width and scale the result down. - The page is wider than the screen: inspect the overflowing element and the active media queries at 360 CSS pixels. Check the layout just below and above any breakpoint where the structure changes.
- The emulated result differs from a phone: Device Mode is approximate. Verify on real hardware when the issue involves touch, a particular browser or device, or mobile performance.
- Images look different despite the same width: check DPR separately; it changes the mapping between CSS pixels and physical pixels.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo can return a website screenshot through one GET request. For an image response, use this cURL example with your API key and the page you want to inspect:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webpSee the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options. The call above is a basic capture example; it does not set a 360-pixel viewport, so configure the desired viewport using the API’s supported parameters before relying on a capture for this specific test.
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the shot was billed. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
