You can chat with Salesforce from Microsoft Teams by adding the Salesforce Power Platform connector as a tool in a Copilot Studio agent, then publishing that agent to Teams. The connector is Premium in Copilot Studio, and the Salesforce account must have API access enabled. Which records and actions users can reach depends on the connector’s authentication and permissions—not simply on their Teams sign-in. Microsoft’s Salesforce connector documentation and Copilot Studio connector guidance describe the requirements.
What the integration does—and what it does not do
The Salesforce connector lets a Copilot Studio agent call Salesforce operations through Power Platform. After you publish the agent to Teams, users can chat with it to request information or actions supported by the operations you configured. This is a connector-based integration, not a Teams add-in that independently grants Salesforce access.

Microsoft lists the connector as Premium in Copilot Studio and requires a Salesforce account with API access. The connector documentation lists a default Salesforce API version of v58.0; check the current connector page and your target environment rather than treating that version as a guarantee for every tenant. Availability and licensing can vary by tenant and region. Microsoft lists Copilot Studio availability for the connector across Power Automate regions except US Government GCC High and China Cloud operated by 21Vianet. Your Salesforce edition and Microsoft licensing should be confirmed with the administrators responsible for those systems. Salesforce connector requirements and availability

- Check prerequisites. Confirm Salesforce API access, connector availability in the target Power Platform environment, and the required Premium licensing. Ask your Salesforce and Power Platform administrators to verify applicable entitlements and tenant policies.
- Add Salesforce to the agent. In Copilot Studio, add a connector tool, search for Salesforce, choose the operations the agent needs, and configure its connection. Power Platform connectors provide a way for agents to call external services through their APIs. Microsoft’s connector-tool guidance
- Choose the connection identity. Decide whether the tool should use each user’s Salesforce credentials or a maker-provided connection. Review the permission implications before configuring the tool; this choice determines whose Salesforce access is used for the operation.
- Configure authentication for Teams. If users authenticate individually, follow Copilot Studio’s end-user authentication and Teams SSO requirements. Incorrect SSO configuration can prevent users from authenticating. Copilot Studio does not store user credentials; if a token expires or is revoked, users may be prompted to connect again. End-user authentication guidance
- Publish and enable Teams. Publish the agent at least once, enable the Microsoft Teams channel, and make it available to the intended users. Your organization must permit Power Platform apps in Teams; admin approval or distribution settings may be needed for wider access. Publish an agent to Teams
- Republish changes. Users receive the published version, not unpublished edits. After updating the agent, publish it again. A conversation already in progress does not pick up the new content; users can start a new conversation to use the latest published version. Publishing and connected channels
Choose whose Salesforce permissions the agent uses
Authentication is an access-control decision, not just a setup detail. Microsoft documents user credentials as the default for connector tools and also supports maker-provided credentials. The right choice depends on whether the agent should act with each user’s Salesforce access or with a shared connection, as well as on tenant policy. Copilot Studio connector guidance

- SUPPORT WORK FROM ANYWHERE WITH SYNC: Whether employees are in the office, at home, or somewhere else, Sync device management software helps everyone stay connected by letting you ensure their Logitech video collaboration personal devices are being used and up to date.
- Open workspaces are great for collaboration, but not so great when the noise around you makes it hard to concentrate. Active noise cancellation substantially reduces unwanted ambient sound, so you can get focused and stay focused.
- Great for Music and Talking with immersive sound for listening to music and a noise-canceling mic that ensures that your voice is heard on the other end of a call—not the noise around you.
- On ear controls to adjust volume, start/end calls, and invoke Teams. Plus button controls for power, active noise cancellation (ANC), wireless Bluetooth pairing, and mute on/off or use the flip-to-mute mic feature.
- Certified for Microsoft Teams ensures it’s easy to pick-up or answer Teams meetings, calls, messages, and notifications with a single press to the Teams button. Or apply a longer touch to invoke Cortana voice skills.
| Connection approach | What it means | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| User credentials | The tool uses the individual user’s connection and Salesforce permissions. | Users may need to create or refresh a connection, and can revoke permissions. Validate that authentication works for the Teams deployment. |
| Maker-provided credentials | The tool uses credentials supplied by the agent maker. | Users may be able to retrieve data or perform actions available to the maker, even if they do not have those permissions themselves. Review for oversharing before use. Microsoft’s maker-authentication guidance |
A Teams sign-in alone does not establish that the same user can access Salesforce records. Test record visibility and allowed actions with the least-privileged intended user and the actual connection pattern. For Teams agents using custom Active Directory authentication, Microsoft says connector SSO is unsupported, so users must authenticate separately to each connector. Connector SSO limitations
Microsoft’s agent identity guidance says new Copilot Studio agents receive Microsoft Entra Agent IDs, while agents created before the feature was implemented in May 2026 continue using traditional app registrations. It also says runtime scope enforcement, including Conditional Access on the agent identity, currently applies only when the agent runs in Teams. Because this is a changing platform detail, check the current guidance when reviewing the design. Microsoft Entra agent identity overview

Plan for chat context and common failures
One-to-one chats, group chats, and channels
Test the agent in the Teams context where people will use it. Microsoft documents a specific limitation for knowledge sources that require end-user authentication, such as SharePoint: agents using those sources are supported only in one-to-one chats, not Teams group chats or channels. This limitation concerns those authenticated knowledge sources; do not assume it applies identically to every Salesforce connector design. Teams publishing guidance

Query selects too many fields or has complex filters
The connector can reject a Salesforce query with the error “Query is either selecting too many fields or the filter conditions are too complicated.” Microsoft does not establish one universally safe query size. Reduce the selected fields and simplify filter conditions, then test the operation again. Salesforce connector limits and errors
Users cannot sign in or see recent agent changes
- If users cannot authenticate, review the Teams SSO configuration and whether the chosen connection requires them to establish or refresh credentials.
- If a change is missing, confirm that the agent was published after the edit and have users start a new conversation.
- If the agent is unavailable in Teams, check that the Teams channel is enabled, the agent is shared with the intended users, and organizational policies permit the app.
Validate before rollout
Before making the agent broadly available, test the actual environment and intended Teams usage. Include checks for:
