To change your X username (your @handle), sign in at x.com, then open Settings and privacy → Account → Username. Enter an available handle and select Done. X’s help pages conflict about whether the mobile apps support this change, so using the web interface is the safest documented route.
Change your username on the web
-

-
If X accepts the available username, select Done to save it. If it is unavailable, try another variation.

X’s username-change guide gives steps for iOS, Android, and desktop, while its troubleshooting guidance says username changes are not supported in the mobile apps and directs users to the web. Since those official instructions conflict, use the web route and check the current interface if its labels differ.

What changes when you switch handles
Your existing followers, Direct Messages, and replies stay with your account. Followers will see the new username beside your profile photo. Before changing it, consider telling your audience so they know where to find you and where to direct replies or messages.
