Change Conan Exiles’ visible server region by editing the serverRegion value, then restarting the server. On a hosted server, stop the server, open the host’s World Settings, choose the community and region values, save, and start the server again. On a self-managed server, stop the server, edit the serverRegion= line in ServerSettings.ini, save the file, and restart.

Conan Exiles uses a region value to decide where a server appears when players browse the server list. The value is metadata attached to the server listing, so a server can be shown under Europe, North America, Asia, or another category even though its physical host remains in the same facility.
The setting matters when players filter the browser by region or when you want the listing to match the audience you intend to reach. It is separate from the server’s actual network location, hardware, and host contract. If your goal is lower latency, changing this label is not a substitute for moving the server to a geographically closer location.

The setting is exposed in two ways:
- Hosted server: the provider’s control panel normally exposes community and region fields under World Settings.
- Self-managed server: the value is stored in
ServerSettings.inias a line beginning withserverRegion=.
In either case, the server must be stopped while you make the change and started again afterward. Editing a running instance can be overwritten when the process shuts down, and the new value is not active until the server restarts.
Before changing the region
Take these checks before editing anything:
- Confirm that you are changing the correct Conan Exiles instance, especially if the host account contains several servers.
- Tell players about the restart. A region change requires downtime while the server is stopped.
- Record the current community and region values so you can restore them if the listing becomes harder to find.
- Keep a copy of
ServerSettings.inibefore making a manual edit. - Decide which region label you need, then verify the numeric mapping used by your host. The mapping for values 3 through 5 is inconsistent between published references.
- If the server runs an Enhanced or UE5 edition, check the provider’s current documentation before assuming the legacy file name and path still apply.
Change the region on a hosted server
Panel names differ among providers, but the documented workflow is consistent. Wabbanode’s instructions place the controls under World Settings, and Akliz and Shockbyte also publish guidance for changing the server region.

- Stop the server. Use the panel’s Stop, Power Off, or equivalent control and wait until the status shows that the process has fully stopped.
- Open the world configuration. Go to the server’s World Settings or the equivalent configuration page. Do not edit a different game instance or a general account preference.
- Find the community and region fields. The panel may display the region as a drop-down, a numeric value, or both. The community field is separate; set it only as needed for your intended browser listing.
- Select the region value. Use the mapping documented by your provider. If the panel supplies named choices, prefer those over manually entering a number.
- Save the world settings. Wait for the panel to confirm that the configuration was written. Navigating away before the save completes can leave the old value in place.
- Start the server. Launch the server from the panel and wait until it reports that the instance is online.
- Check the public listing. Open Conan Exiles’ server browser and filter by the selected region. Search by the server name as well, because the name is a more reliable way to identify the correct instance when several listings are nearby.
If your panel has a configuration editor rather than separate fields, look for the generated serverRegion setting in the world configuration. Use the provider’s label and validation rules instead of adding an unrelated setting with a similar name.

Change the region on a self-managed server
For a self-managed installation, the documented setting is in ServerSettings.ini. The exact directory is not confirmed for every platform, installation method, or edition, so use the file name rather than assuming one universal path.
- Stop the dedicated server process. Shut it down cleanly and verify that it is no longer running before opening the configuration file.
- Locate
ServerSettings.ini. Search the dedicated-server installation and its configuration directories for that exact file name. If more than one copy exists, identify the copy loaded by the active instance instead of editing a template or an unused installation. - Make a backup. Copy the file to a separate name or directory before changing the line. This gives you a known-good version to restore.
- Open the file as plain text. Find the line beginning with
serverRegion=. A typical entry has this form:
serverRegion=0- Replace only the value. Keep the setting name and equals sign intact, and substitute the number that matches the region documented by your host or configuration reference. For example, changing
serverRegion=0toserverRegion=1changes the stored region value without altering unrelated settings. - Save the file as plain text. Do not change the file extension or save a second copy with an added extension such as
.txt. - Start the server again. The dedicated server reads the new value during startup.
- Verify the listing. Use the in-game browser’s region filter and search for the server by name. If the old category remains, stop the instance and confirm that you edited the configuration used by that running service.
The precise ServerSettings.ini path for every operating system and platform has not been established in the available documentation. If a file search returns several candidates, the service definition, startup script, or hosting documentation should identify which configuration directory is active.
Region numbers: why published lists disagree
Do not copy a number from an unrelated guide without checking the source used by your server. The official Conan Exiles Wiki lists one mapping, while a third-party generator lists different destinations for values 3, 4, and 5.

The disagreement means that a syntactically valid number can still place your server in the wrong browser category. Values 0, 1, and 2 are consistent across the two references, but values 3, 4, and 5 are not. A hosted panel with named regions is preferable because it removes the need to infer what a number means. For a self-managed installation, use the mapping supplied for your server environment and confirm the result in the browser after restarting.
How to confirm that the change worked
- Wait for the server to finish starting and become visible online.
- Open the Conan Exiles server browser.
- Apply the region filter corresponding to the value you selected.
- Search by the exact server name and inspect the region shown in the listing.
- Remove the filter and search again if necessary, which helps distinguish a wrong region value from a server that is not advertising at all.
If the server appears under the expected category, the visible-region change is complete. The browser category is the relevant test; a change in ping, routing, or physical host location is not evidence that the region metadata was or was not accepted.

The server was not fully stopped
Stop the instance again and wait for the process to exit before editing. A panel may show a transitional state for a short time; make the change only after the status confirms that the server is offline. Start it after saving and allow the normal startup sequence to finish.

The panel saved a different configuration
Some hosting accounts contain multiple instances or separate profiles for different worlds. Reopen the same server entry you started and check its World Settings. If the provider offers a configuration overview, confirm that the selected value appears there after saving.

When a self-managed installation contains more than one ServerSettings.ini, compare modification times and service configuration, then identify the file read by the active server process. Editing a sample file, an old backup, or a second installation will not change the live listing.
The line is malformed
Check that the entry uses the exact setting name, an equals sign, and a numeric value, for example serverRegion=1. Remove accidental quotation marks or extra characters if the host’s format does not include them. Keep one active entry for the setting rather than leaving conflicting duplicate lines.
The number does not match the host’s convention
If values 3, 4, or 5 produce an unexpected category, revert to the backup or correct the value using the host’s own mapping. The published lists do not agree for those three values, so a number taken from a general-purpose generator may not match your server environment.
The server is not visible at all
First verify that the instance starts normally and that you are searching for the exact server name. A missing listing is a separate problem from an incorrect region label. Check the host’s status page or service logs for startup errors before changing the region again.

The visible-region value is a browser classification, not a migration control. Investigate the host’s physical location, network route, firewall, and server performance separately if the problem is latency or connectivity.
Enhanced and UE5 edition considerations
Whether Conan Exiles Enhanced, based on Unreal Engine 5, uses the same setting name and file path has not been verified. Do not assume that instructions for the earlier edition apply unchanged. Ask the host which configuration file the Enhanced server reads, or inspect the edition-specific documentation, before editing a legacy path.
The safest procedure remains the same: stop the correct instance, change the region through a supported panel field or the confirmed configuration file, save, restart, and verify the browser category.
