On a computer, look under Settings > Settings > General > Event settings. These personal settings apply to new events, not events already on your calendar.

What the setting changes—and what it does not
The personal default is used when you create a new event without specifying a different duration. It does not retroactively change events already on your calendar. If you need a particular event to be longer or shorter, set its end time or duration when editing that event.
Google’s Calendar API documents defaultEventLength as a positive number of minutes and gives 60 as its documented default value. That is an API reference value, not a guarantee that every account or interface starts at 60 minutes. Google Calendar API: Settings
