Every link is an object with a Message label and a Url destination. These entries create clickable buttons in the server lobby; they do not create a permanent address for joining the server.

The exact setting to change
Unturned stores lobby-link settings in the server-specific Config.json file. Inside that file, find Browser, then its Links array. Each array item has two string properties:

What to do before editing
Shut the server down cleanly
Stop the server through your hosting panel or console and wait until the process has fully exited. Unturned’s official setup guidance notes that most settings cannot be configured reliably while the server is open. Editing a file while the process is running can result in your changes being overwritten when the server saves its current state.

Identify the correct server folder
Saved data and configuration files are kept below the U3DSServers directory. Each server has its own subfolder. A default installation commonly uses:
...U3DSServersDefaultIf you operate multiple servers, do not edit the Default folder automatically. Open the folder whose name matches the server you want players to see in the lobby. A hosted control panel may expose the same location through a “Configuration Files” or “Server Configuration” page instead of a normal file browser.
Make a backup
Copy the current Config.json to a safe location before changing it. Include the date in the backup name, such as Config-before-links-2026-10-15.json. If the server refuses to start or resets the configuration, you can restore the known-good copy rather than reconstructing every setting.
How to find Config.json
On a self-hosted or dedicated installation
- Open the directory where the Unturned dedicated-server files are installed.
- Open
U3DS, thenServers. - Open the folder for the target server, such as
Defaultor your custom server name. - Open the server configuration area and locate
Config.json. - Open the file in a text editor that does not add rich-text formatting.
In a hosted control panel
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Open the panel’s file manager or “Configuration Files” page.
- Select the server-specific
Config.json, notCommands.dat. - Use the panel’s text editor to locate the
Browsersection.
The lobby links belong in Config.json. Commands.dat is not the file for these buttons. If the panel presents several configuration files with similar names, verify that the path includes the server’s own folder under U3DSServers.
Editing the Links array safely
Change an existing link
Replace only the text between the quotation marks for Message and Url. For example:

]Use a short label that tells players what will open: Website, Discord, Rules, or Support are clearer than a long sentence. The URL should be complete and publicly reachable. Include the scheme, normally https://, and avoid spaces or unescaped quotation marks.

Add a second or subsequent link
Place another object inside the square brackets and put a comma between adjacent objects. There is no comma after the final object:

]The comma after the first and second closing braces separates array elements. A trailing comma after the last element is invalid JSON and can prevent the configuration from loading.
Remove a link
Delete the complete object, including its preceding comma when necessary. An empty list is valid if you want no lobby buttons:

Move the complete objects up or down within the array. Keep each Message paired with its own Url; moving only one property can send players to the wrong destination.
Preserve JSON syntax
JSON requires double quotation marks around property names and string values. Keep braces, square brackets, commas, and colons exactly balanced. Do not add comments such as // Discord link; comments are not valid JSON. If a URL itself contains a quotation mark or other reserved character, use a properly encoded URL rather than inserting the raw character.
Save, restart, and confirm the result
- Save
Config.jsonin plain text. - Close the editor so the file is no longer locked by another application.
- Start the Unturned server.
- Wait for the server to finish loading and appear in the lobby or server-details view.
- Open each displayed link and confirm that it reaches the intended public page.
If the buttons do not appear, stop the server again and inspect the file for a syntax error, an edit made to the wrong server folder, or a panel that failed to save the file. Confirm that the link is in Browser.Links, not in an unrelated configuration section.

Common failures and their fixes
The server will not start after the edit
- Restore the backup to confirm that the problem is in the edited file.
- Check for a missing comma between two link objects.
- Check for an extra comma after the final object.
- Check that every opening brace, closing brace, square bracket, and quotation mark has a matching partner.
- Make sure property names are spelled exactly as
Links,Message, andUrl, including capitalization.
Once the server starts with the backup, reapply the change one small edit at a time. A JSON-aware editor can identify unmatched punctuation before you restart.
The link is visible but opens the wrong page
Read the entire Url value, not just the label. Labels are arbitrary text, so a button titled “Discord” can still point to a website if the URL was copied incorrectly. Replace the value with the complete intended address, save, and restart.

The link does not appear at all
- Verify that you edited the configuration for the running server, especially if several server folders exist.
- Confirm the array is nested inside the
Browserobject. - Check that the panel actually saved the file rather than opening a read-only preview.
- Restart after saving; changing the file while the process is running may not be picked up.
The panel overwrites my change
Some hosts regenerate configuration files when a server starts or when settings are changed through a form. Stop the server, make the edit in the panel’s designated configuration editor, save it there, and avoid changing conflicting settings through another interface until the restart has completed. Keep a backup so you can compare the saved file with what you entered.
Players cannot reach the destination
The game displays the URL, but it does not make the destination public or repair a private, expired, or blocked site. Open the address outside the game and check that it resolves without authentication. For a community service, use a stable public URL and update the Url whenever the destination changes.
Lobby links are not a permanent server address
A Browser.Links entry is an external button. It can lead to a website, rules page, support portal, or Discord invite, but it does not tell Unturned how to find your game server after an IP or port change. Players still need the server’s current connection details or a separate discovery mechanism.
This distinction explains why changing a lobby link does not stop a server’s join address from changing after a restart. The link and the connection identity are separate settings with different purposes.

Use BookmarkHost for persistent discovery
If your goal is a bookmark that continues to find the server after its public IP or port changes, configure the BookmarkHost property together with a Login Token (GSLT). Official Unturned documentation describes this combination as enabling the bookmark button so players can find the server even after an IP or port change.
DNS A-record method
With DNS, create an A record that points a hostname to the server’s public IP. This approach can follow an IP change after the DNS record is updated, but it retains the current port. It is therefore suitable when the port stays fixed and only the address changes.
HTTP or HTTPS endpoint method
An HTTP or HTTPS endpoint can return a plain-text address such as myunturnedserver.example.com:27015. Because the response contains both host and port, this method can represent changes to either value. The endpoint must return the address in plain text exactly as expected by the game’s bookmark mechanism.
Fake-IP servers
The DNS approach is not applicable to fake-IP servers where the IP and port are reassigned after each restart. In that case, use the HTTP-based approach described by the official documentation so the endpoint can provide the current host and port.

Servers without a GSLT are treated as anonymous and hidden from the Internet server list. A GSLT can also keep Server Codes linked between sessions and may transfer saved address details when server details change. The official documentation says that this transfer takes approximately 24 hours, so an address change is not necessarily reflected immediately.
Set the token in the Browser Login_Token property or with the GSLT startup command, depending on how you manage the server. Never publish the token in a lobby link, screenshot, support post, configuration download, or public repository. Treat it like a credential: restrict access, keep a private backup, and replace it if it is exposed.

Use the first row for clickable community resources. Use one of the BookmarkHost rows when the problem is server discovery rather than providing an external web button. You can configure both: lobby links for information and BookmarkHost for a durable way to find the game server.

A practical maintenance routine
- Keep a documented copy of the intended
Browser.Linksarray, including the purpose of each URL. - Before every configuration change, stop the server and back up
Config.json. - Edit only the required
MessageandUrlvalues unless you are intentionally changing another setting. - Validate the JSON structure in your editor before saving.
- Restart the server and inspect the lobby after each change.
- Open every button from a normal player account or an external browser to verify that the destination is public.
- Review external URLs periodically; an expired invite or moved rules page leaves a visible button that no longer helps players.
- Keep GSLT credentials separate from public documentation and never paste them into a link, announcement, or support ticket.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a server IP address in the Links array?
You can display an address as text in a link label or point to a web URL, but the array is intended for clickable external destinations. It is not the mechanism that makes a game-server address persistent. Use BookmarkHost with a GSLT for that purpose.
Do I need to restart after changing only a link label?
Yes. Stop the server before editing and start it again after saving so Unturned loads the new configuration. Runtime edits are not a dependable way to apply this setting.
Why does a GSLT-backed address change take time to appear?
The official documentation says saved address details may transfer in approximately 24 hours when server details change. Allow for that delay before assuming the token or configuration failed.
Should the GSLT be included in the lobby link?
No. A lobby link should contain only the public destination you want players to open. A GSLT is a credential and must remain private.

The server-specific Config.json under the server’s U3DSServers folder controls them. In a hosting panel, use the configuration-file editor that corresponds to that file.
