Peacock’s playback options are in the player’s Audio & Subtitles menu; profile age limits and PIN protection are managed from the browser-based profiles page. The controls you see depend on your device, and the available caption or audio tracks depend on the program.
Turn subtitles or captions on or off
Peacock’s player menu is the same in purpose across devices, but you reveal it differently on a TV than on a phone or tablet.

On a TV, console, or streaming device
- Start the show or movie and pause playback so the navigation bar appears.
- Use the remote to move up, then right to the speech-bubble icon labeled Audio & Subtitles.
- Select the subtitle or caption option you want. Confirm the selection if prompted; Peacock notes that captions may take about 30 seconds to appear.
On a phone or tablet
- Start playback and tap the video to show the controls.
- Tap the speech-bubble icon, then select a subtitle option.
To turn captions off, return to the same menu and select Off if it is listed. Xfinity’s Peacock FAQ also confirms that choosing Off disables captions. Peacock says subtitles are available across its content on all platforms except for rare exceptions such as trailers; that does not guarantee captions for every individual asset or language. Change caption appearance
Peacock says caption appearance can be adjusted in account settings, including sizing, font, and color. Some devices also provide their own caption controls, and the available options vary by platform. Peacock points iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV users to Settings > Accessibility > Subtitles & Captioning; Android users can look under Settings > Accessibility in the Hearing or Audio captions area. For Xbox, Peacock directs users to PeacockTV.com. These are platform-specific routes, not a single universal setting. More details are in Peacock Help’s accessibility overview.

Choose an audio track or turn off audio description
To check which spoken-language tracks a title offers, open its Audio & Subtitles menu while it is playing and inspect the audio options. Track availability is title-dependent; Peacock’s reviewed help instructions do not establish that every program has multiple languages or that a selection carries across episodes or devices.
Turn audio description on
Audio description is spoken narration of visual details in a program. Peacock marks eligible shows and movies with an Audio Description icon in the title’s information section. For a marked title, play it, open Audio & Subtitles (called Audio & Subtitle in some instructions), and choose English (AD). Peacock gives this route for mobile and tablet, web, cable-provider set-top boxes, connected TVs, consoles, and streaming devices.

Turn audio description off
Open the audio menu and choose a non-AD audio track if one is offered. Audio description is available only for certain content; Peacock says it is supported across its supported devices for many shows and movies, not every title. See Peacock Help’s Audio Description guide.

Peacock lists Arris XG1v1 (MX011AN), Samsung XG2v2 (SX022AN), Pace Xi3v2 (PX032AN), Cisco G8 (CSO11AN), and Arris XG1V1 RM (AX11RANx) as devices no longer compatible with audio description. Compatibility may change, so consult Peacock’s current device-support information before deciding whether hardware needs replacing.

Set a profile’s maturity rating
Peacock’s parental controls are profile-based. A maturity rating limits which rated shows and movies that profile may access; it is separate from a PIN, which restricts entry to a profile.
- In a mobile or desktop browser, open Peacock’s Who’s Watching? profiles page.
- Select the pencil icon beneath the profile you want to change.
- Select Change beside Maturity Ratings, then enter the account password.
- Choose the rating level and select Save Rating.
If you begin this change on a TV, Peacock displays a QR code to continue on a mobile device. The documented content-rating choices are:

These are the options Peacock documents for its profile settings, not a universal ratings standard or a replacement for restrictions set on a device or elsewhere in an account. See Peacock Help’s parental-controls instructions.

Set or change a Profile PIN
- On the browser-based Who’s Watching? profiles page, select the pencil icon under the profile to protect.
- Switch Profile Pin to On, enter the account password, and create a four-digit PIN.
- Select Save PIN.
The PIN protects access to that profile from another profile, helping prevent a child from entering a parent’s or another adult’s profile. Peacock does not let you change PIN settings directly on a TV; follow the on-screen QR code to continue on a mobile device.
