If your Outlook Weather widget shows °F but you want °C, the key is understanding what the widget actually reads for units—usually your region/locale signals, not a standalone Outlook switch.
This guide gives you a web and PC workflow to change Outlook Weather to Celsius reliably. You’ll learn the exact settings paths for Outlook.com, plus the Windows region steps that typically control the units for Outlook on Windows.

What controls Outlook Weather units (F vs C)?
Outlook Weather temperature units are driven by a combination of Microsoft service locale and the region signals your device/browser provides. In practice, that means:
#1 Best Overall

- [Large Clear Display] The compact display is easy to read with bold, black information. With a tabletop or wall-mountable design, you can place it conveniently for quick viewing. Tap the backlit button, and it illuminates for 10 seconds, ensuring readability in the dark.
- [Package Information] You receive the weather station with a display screen, an outside sensor, and a one-year warranty (excluding batteries). Support up to 3 sensors; ensure they are in different channels.
- On Outlook.com (web), the widget usually follows your Outlook.com locale/region settings and your browser’s locale/region data.
- On Outlook for Windows, the widget typically follows Windows regional settings (and sometimes Windows app language), not a separate Outlook-only temperature setting.
So if you change only one place (for example, your Microsoft account locale but not Windows region), the widget can keep showing Fahrenheit.
Before you start: prerequisites that affect temperature units
Before you change anything, verify a few basics—this prevents wasted time and makes troubleshooting faster.
- You’re signed in to the correct account in Outlook.com or Outlook for Windows.
- Weather location is set correctly (or at least not stuck on an old location). If the location is wrong, the unit fix may appear to “not work.”
- Your device region is set sensibly (example: a country/region that uses Celsius).
- Your browser isn’t forcing a conflicting locale (extensions, privacy settings, or manual language overrides can interfere).
Change Outlook Weather to Celsius on the web (Outlook.com)
Outlook.com doesn’t always expose a dedicated “Temperature units” toggle in the Weather card itself. The most reliable path is changing your Outlook.com language/region settings so Microsoft’s weather rendering uses Celsius.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

- Open Outlook.com and sign in.
- Click the Settings gear icon (top-right).
- Select View all Outlook settings.
- Go to General → Language and time.
- Look for Region or a related setting (wording can vary by rollout). Change it to a region that uses Celsius (for example, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada).
- Adjust Language to match your preferred region (for example, English (United Kingdom) for the UK).
- Click Save.
After saving, the service usually updates the weather widget within a few minutes.

Step 2: Refresh the Weather widget
- Return to the Outlook.com inbox.
- Hard refresh the page:
- Windows/Chrome or Edge: press Ctrl + F5
- macOS/Safari or Firefox: press Cmd + Shift + R
- If the widget shows cached values, wait 2–5 minutes and check again.
Step 3: If the widget still shows Fahrenheit, fix browser/region signals
If Outlook.com settings alone didn’t switch to °C, your browser may be supplying a conflicting locale/region (or privacy settings are blocking accurate region signals).
- Check your browser language/region preferences:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Languages (set preferred language/region)
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Languages
- Temporarily disable VPN/proxy extensions that can mask region.
- In privacy tools, allow Microsoft services/location as applicable for weather personalization.
- Clear the site cache for Outlook.com (target only that site, not all data):
- Chrome/Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data → choose Cached images and files, then confirm for the time range.
- Reload Outlook.com and recheck the Weather widget.
Change Outlook Weather to Celsius on PC (Outlook for Windows)
On Windows, Outlook Weather units almost always follow Windows regional settings. There’s rarely a separate “Celsius/Fahrenheit” switch inside Outlook itself.
Step 1: Confirm you’re using the New Outlook or Classic Outlook
The steps can differ slightly depending on which Outlook you use.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- New Outlook for Windows: typically appears as the modern Outlook app experience.
- Classic Outlook: the traditional desktop Outlook (Office-style).
If you’re unsure, check the app UI and menu labels. Either way, the unit change you want is controlled by Windows region signals.

New Outlook for Windows: rely on Windows temperature/region settings
Do these Windows steps first. Once Windows regional formatting and language/region align with a Celsius-using country, the Outlook Weather widget typically updates automatically after a refresh.
Step-by-step in Windows 11
- Open Settings.
- Go to Time & language → Language & region.
- Under Country or region, select a Celsius-using region (for example, United Kingdom or Germany).
- Under Regional format, set the format to match that region.
- Close Settings.
- Open Outlook and refresh the Weather card (or restart Outlook if the card doesn’t update within a few minutes).
Step-by-step in Windows 10
- Open Settings.
- Go to Time & Language → Region.
- Set Country or region to a Celsius-using region.
- Set Regional format to match.
- Close Settings and check Outlook Weather again.
Classic Outlook for Windows: units typically follow Windows region
Classic Outlook usually doesn’t provide a direct temperature unit toggle. If the widget is pulling from Microsoft weather services, Windows regional formatting is the best lever.
- Change Windows Country/region and Regional format using the Windows 10/11 steps above.
- Restart Outlook.
- Confirm your Weather location isn’t pinned to a different region (some widgets remember a location and can keep showing values until updated).
Troubleshooting when Outlook Weather won’t switch to Celsius
When it fails, it’s usually because one signal still conflicts (locale, region, cached content, or location). Use the list below in order.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Common fixes that work (in order)
- Confirm the region is really set
- On web: Outlook.com → Settings → General → Language and time → Region
- On PC: Windows Settings → Time & language/Time & Language → Language & region/Region
- Hard refresh Outlook.com with Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (macOS).
- Sign out and back in to Outlook.com to force locale re-evaluation.
- Clear only Outlook.com cache (browser cache), then reload.
- Disable VPN/proxy temporarily so Microsoft can infer region correctly.
- Restart the Outlook app after Windows region changes.
Edge cases
- You changed language but not region: language and region often need to match. For Celsius countries, keep both aligned (for example, English (United Kingdom) + United Kingdom region).
- Weather location is pinned elsewhere: if the widget keeps showing conditions for another location, it may also keep a different unit display until the widget refreshes.
- Browser extension interference: ad blockers and privacy tools can block parts of Microsoft services that handle locale/units.
- Regional format mismatch on Windows: setting only “Country or region” without updating “Regional format” can keep Fahrenheit-style formatting.
Quick comparisons and alternatives
If you mainly want Celsius for day-to-day checking, consider these alternatives when the Outlook widget is stubborn.

| Where you check weather | How units are determined | What to do for Celsius |
|---|---|---|
| Outlook Weather widget (web) | Outlook.com locale/region + browser signals | Update Outlook.com region (Settings → Language and time) and refresh |
| Outlook Weather widget (Windows) | Windows regional formatting and locale | Set Windows Country/region + Regional format to a Celsius region |
| Windows taskbar widgets / News & Interests | Often uses Windows regional settings | Use the same Windows region changes (may update immediately) |
These options can also help you confirm whether your Windows region change “took.” If other weather surfaces switch to °C but Outlook doesn’t, the issue is likely Outlook/widget caching or a conflicting browser signal on web.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Bottom Line
To change Outlook Weather to Celsius, adjust the settings that actually feed the widget: on Outlook.com, update Outlook.com region (Settings → General → Language and time); on Outlook for Windows, update Windows Country/region and Regional format. Then refresh Outlook or hard refresh the web page.
If it still won’t switch, the fastest path is hard refresh + sign out/in (web) or restart Outlook after Windows region changes (PC), and temporarily disable VPN/proxy extensions.
FAQs
Why does Outlook Weather keep showing Fahrenheit even after I changed settings?
Most commonly, the browser (web) or Windows region signals (PC) still conflict with your desired locale. Confirm both the Outlook.com region and your browser language/region, or both Windows Country/region and Regional format.

Is there a direct Celsius toggle in Outlook Weather?
Often there isn’t a standalone widget toggle. Outlook Weather typically follows locale/region settings, so you usually need to change Microsoft locale (web) and/or Windows regional format (PC).
How long does it take for °C to appear?
After saving Outlook.com settings or changing Windows region, check immediately by refreshing the widget. If it doesn’t change right away, wait 2–5 minutes and repeat a hard refresh (web) or restart Outlook (PC).
Will changing my Microsoft account language change Outlook Weather units?
It can, but it depends on whether the account language change also updates the effective Outlook.com region/locale used by the widget. For reliability, update the specific Outlook.com setting under General → Language and time (web) and the Windows region formatting (PC).
