Kindle e-reader Bluetooth is for supported audio devices, not Bluetooth clickers, keyboards, mice, or phones that send page-turn commands. For hands-free reading, use VoiceView’s continuous reading, or consider a compatible third-party screen-sensor clip operated by its own remote. The setup depends on whether you have a Kindle e-reader or the Kindle app on a phone or tablet.
What Kindle Bluetooth can—and cannot—do
Amazon’s Bluetooth pairing instructions cover compatible audio devices, including devices used to listen to audiobooks or VoiceView. They do not support pairing a Bluetooth phone, keyboard, or mouse as a page-turning input. That means a typical Bluetooth page-turn clicker should not be expected to connect directly to a Kindle e-reader and turn pages. Amazon’s Bluetooth help says Kindle devices released during or after 2016 support Bluetooth connectivity; that does not mean every Bluetooth accessory is supported.

Pair a supported Bluetooth audio device with a Kindle e-reader
Put the audio device into pairing mode and keep it near the Kindle before scanning. Menu wording varies by Kindle model and software version.

- Choose All Settings or Settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi & Bluetooth or Wireless.
- Turn Bluetooth on, then open Bluetooth Devices to scan.
- Select your audio device and choose Connect. If prompted for a PIN, select CONFIRM, then YES.
To remove a paired device, choose Forget beside its name. If pairing fails, Amazon recommends temporarily turning off other nearby Bluetooth devices and accessories, checking that the audio device can connect elsewhere, updating Kindle software, and restarting both devices. A factory reset is listed as a further troubleshooting step; it is more disruptive, so consider it only after the simpler checks.

Use VoiceView for spoken reading and page navigation
VoiceView is the screen reader on supported Kindle e-readers and uses a compatible Bluetooth audio device. Amazon’s VoiceView gesture guide says that when a book opens, VoiceView starts reading and turns pages automatically as it reads.
VoiceView gestures while reading
- Swipe left with two fingers to go to the next page.
- Swipe right with two fingers to go to the previous page.
- Tap with two fingers to pause VoiceView; tap with two fingers again to resume.
- If reading stops, swipe down and right with one finger in an L shape to start continuous reading again.
Find or reconnect a VoiceView audio device
Press the Kindle power button three times to search for a new Bluetooth audio device, then hold two fingers on the screen to select it. Amazon says the same triple press can reconnect a previously paired Bluetooth device if VoiceView was turned off or the Kindle was in Airplane mode. The guide lists VoiceView in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish; device support and language availability depend on the particular Kindle and locale.

Change accessibility and reading settings in the Kindle app
Kindle apps on Android and iOS have app-level reading controls separate from the menus on a Kindle e-reader. Open a book, tap near the top center of the screen, open the Aa reading-settings menu, and select the relevant tab. Depending on the platform and book, settings can include font size and type, line and word spacing, brightness, page color, dark mode, continuous scrolling, margins, text alignment, themes, Assistive Reader, real-time text highlighting, and Reading Ruler. Screen readers on iPhone and Android
The Kindle iOS app uses Apple VoiceOver, which you enable in the iPhone or iPad’s Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver. With VoiceOver active, Amazon lists a three-finger swipe left or right to turn to the next or previous page. See Amazon’s VoiceOver instructions for Kindle on iOS.

The Kindle Android app supports Google TalkBack, enabled in the Android device’s Accessibility settings. These phone and tablet screen-reader controls are not the same as VoiceView settings on a Kindle e-reader.

Penrose answered a 2022 question about a Kindle Paperwhite remote control: “No, this is not an available feature.” The response addressed a built-in direct remote feature and also mentioned a third-party clip-on device; it does not establish that every accessory-based approach is unavailable. How a screen-sensor clip and separate remote work
A manufacturer manual surfaced through Amazon’s media CDN describes one type of kit: pair its RF remote with a sensor clip, place the clip against a suitable part of the Kindle screen, and use the remote to trigger a page turn. The manual says its product “does not have Bluetooth function and does not need to be connected to your device through Bluetooth.” This describes that particular design, not all page-turner accessories or a universal Kindle feature. Before choosing a clip-on page turner, check the product’s current compatibility list for your exact Kindle model. Also verify where the sensor must touch the display, whether it obscures text or on-screen controls, how the remote pairs with the clip, and whether the clip needs charging. The cited manual lists some Kindle models as incompatible and describes automatic shutdown after 30 minutes without use; those details apply to that product, not necessarily other kits.
