To change when an Epson projector shuts down after inactivity, find Sleep Mode or Sleep Timer in its menu, enable the feature if needed, and set the interval. The menu path and available times vary by model, so use the instructions for your exact projector rather than assuming every Epson uses the same controls.
Change the sleep setting on your Epson projector
Start with the projector’s model number and its Epson user guide. Depending on the model, the control may be under Operation, ECO, or Settings, and may be called Sleep Mode or Sleep Timer.

Models whose guide uses the Operation menu
- Press Menu on the projector or remote.
- Open Operation > Sleep Mode.
- Set Sleep Mode to On if you want inactivity shutdown to be active.
- Open Sleep Mode Timer and choose the interval offered for your model.
- Exit the menu to apply the setting.
For the EB-1485Fi, Epson documents this path and a timer range of 1 to 30 minutes. Its reference defines Sleep Mode as automatically turning off the projector after an interval of inactivity. Other models may have different menu labels or choices. Epson EB-1485Fi Operation Menu reference.

Some Epson guides place Sleep Mode and its timer in the ECO menu. The cited ECO reference also lists a 1-to-30-minute timer and says the lamp briefly dims before timer-based shutdown when the Sleep Mode Timer is enabled. Epson ECO Menu reference.

The EF-12 uses a different label and location: Settings > Sleep Timer. Its documented choices are Off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. These are EF-12 options, not a universal Epson interval list. Epson EF-12 Settings reference.
Why there is no single Epson menu path
Epson’s model-specific references use different locations, labels, and timer ranges. Compare the documented examples:

If the names or choices on your screen differ, check the guide for the full model number printed on the projector. Do not substitute another model’s path or timer range.
Sleep Mode is not Auto Power On
Sleep Mode controls automatic shutdown after inactivity. Auto Power On is a separate startup feature: in the cited EB-1485Fi reference, it responds to an input signal by turning on the projector. Changing that startup option will not change the inactivity shutdown timer. Epson EB-1485Fi Operation Menu reference.

Check other timers if the projector still turns off
Some models have additional automatic shutdown triggers. Consult your model’s guide and check whether its options include:
- A/V Mute Timer: on some documented models, the projector turns off after 30 minutes with A/V Mute enabled.
- Lens Cover Timer: a cited user guide lists shutdown after 30 minutes with the lens cover closed.
These timers are model-dependent; the cited guide’s timings do not establish what another Epson projector will do. The same guide explains that its Sleep Mode Timer sets the wait before automatic turn-off and requires Sleep Mode to be on. Epson user guide.

If the projector shuts down when none of the relevant timers should have triggered, these settings alone do not identify the cause. Use the troubleshooting instructions for your model or contact Epson support rather than assuming a particular hardware fault.
