How to Change Android Mouse Pointer Speed and Accessibility Settings

Search Settings for “pointer speed” or “mouse” to adjust your Android mouse. Learn where to find cursor size, Autoclick, Mouse Keys, and pointer-following magnification.

To change an Android mouse’s pointer speed, open Settings and search for pointer speed or mouse. Android device makers do not use one universal menu path, so follow the option shown on your device. For accessibility, Android also offers settings to enlarge the cursor, click by dwell, control the pointer with a physical keyboard on Android 16 and up, and magnify the area around the pointer.

Change the regular mouse pointer speed

  1. Connect a mouse if needed. Android supports connecting one by Bluetooth or USB; see Google’s instructions for connecting and using a mouse.

  2. Open Settings and search for pointer speed or mouse. Choose the matching setting and adjust the speed. The Android platform includes a mouse pointer speed setting, but there is no single Settings path established for all Android devices; the available menu and label depend on the manufacturer and software version. The platform setting is documented in the Android settings code.

  3. If your device’s search does not find it, check the manufacturer’s support instructions. For Xiaomi devices, the documented path is Settings > Additional settings > Language & input > Keyboard, mouse, and track pad > Pointer speed (Xiaomi support). This is a Xiaomi-specific path, not a promise that other Android devices use the same menus.

Click without pressing the mouse button

Autoclick (Dwell timing) clicks after the pointer stays still for a set period. It can help people who have difficulty pressing a physical mouse button. Open Settings > Accessibility > Cursor & touchpad accessibility > Autoclick (Dwell timing), then turn on Use autoclick. Depending on the device, you can adjust the delay before a click, the click area, whether small pointer movements are ignored, and whether the default action returns to left-click. Google’s Autoclick instructions describe these controls.
