To capture a product page that requires login, first sign in in a browser you are authorized to use, confirm the protected page has loaded, and only then take the screenshot. With Playwright, you can save the authenticated browser state and reuse it—while protecting that state like a credential.
Choose a login workflow
For a one-off capture, sign in manually in a browser session and take the screenshot after the product content appears. For repeatable captures, Playwright can sign in through the site’s UI, save the resulting browser state, and load that state in a later run. Neither method bypasses authentication: the site must accept the account and the browser must actually reach the protected page.

Manual sign-in
Use a normal browser session, complete the site’s login and any required verification, navigate to the product page, and confirm the expected content is visible. This avoids creating a reusable authentication file, though the steps must be repeated when you need another capture.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPlaywright with saved state
Playwright’s authentication guide shows how to sign in through the UI, wait for a post-login signal such as a destination URL or an authenticated-page control, and save storageState for reuse. The page API provides navigation and screenshot methods. See Playwright’s authentication guide and Page API reference.

Playwright documents these screenshot forms in its screenshots guide. It recommends accessibility snapshots—not screenshots—when the goal is to inspect page structure, text, and interactive references.
Set the image format and appearance
Playwright supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP output, along with CSS-pixel or device-pixel scale. The Page API also supports masking selected elements and applying screenshot styles. Choose the format and scale for the intended use, and inspect the resulting file to make sure the desired product content is present and any sensitive details are obscured as intended.

A screenshot documents what the browser rendered; it does not establish that the page owner permits you to publish or redistribute its contents. Capture only pages you are authorized to access, and check the applicable site terms and permissions before sharing an image.
Save and protect reusable login state
Playwright recommends keeping authentication state in playwright/.auth and adding that directory to .gitignore. The state file may contain sensitive cookies and headers that could allow someone to impersonate the account. Restrict access to it, do not commit it to source control, and remove it when no longer needed.

Playwright’s standard storage-state flow covers common state such as cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, and passkey-related state. Session storage is origin-specific and requires special handling; do not assume the standard saved state carries it over. If a saved session stops working, confirm the account is still authenticated and refresh the state through the site’s normal login flow.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A screenshot API captures the page as its request sees it; it does not log in to a protected account on your behalf. For an authenticated product page, use an authorized browser workflow such as Playwright above. For public pages, a single request can capture an image or PDF. See ScreenshotNeo and its API documentation.

Quick Recap
Troubleshoot a missing or wrong capture
- The screenshot shows a login page: the browser did not reach the authenticated view. Complete the login flow and wait for the final URL or a page control that only appears after sign-in before capturing.
- The page redirects or loads incompletely: authentication may still be setting cookies, or the saved session may have expired. Verify the account’s current login state and refresh saved state through the normal sign-in flow.
- A saved session works in one browser but not another: authentication can depend on browser-specific state or storage that was not carried over. Check the site’s login requirements; session storage needs special handling in Playwright’s storage-state workflow.
- The screenshot omits below-the-fold content: a viewport capture shows only the visible browser area. Use full-page capture when the complete page is needed.
- The output has the wrong dimensions or contains sensitive details: review the selected scale, masking, and screenshot styles, then inspect the final file before using it.
