Choose size=screen for that viewport or size=page for a full-page capture. Do not confuse bwidth with width: the former controls the browser viewport, while the latter controls the output thumbnail width.
Set the rendered browser viewport, not just the image width
Thumbalizr’s API documentation says that “bwidth and bheight define the viewport of the browser.” Set bwidth to the narrow width you want to test and bheight to the height you want visible in the browser window. The separate width parameter sets the thumbnail’s output width; changing it does not, by itself, make the page render in a mobile layout. See the Thumbalizr API documentation.

A chosen pixel width is an inspection target, not a universal definition of mobile. It also does not establish that Thumbalizr is emulating a particular phone, browser, or device profile: the documented controls establish browser viewport dimensions.

size=screencaptures the visible browser viewport configured withbwidthandbheight.size=pagecaptures the full page at the configured browser viewport. The free plan is listed as screen-only; full-page capture is listed for higher tiers.
For a responsive-layout check, start with size=screen if you need to inspect what fits in the initial viewport. Use size=page when you need content farther down the page as well.

Check that your plan supports the viewport you need
Published Thumbalizr pages do not describe plan entitlements identically. Its demo summarizes Free and Silver as fixed at 1280×1024, while Gold and Platinum allow larger or custom browser dimensions. The feature page lists custom browser width and height ranges for Gold and Platinum. The API table also gives plan-specific ranges. Confirm the live plan page and the limits shown in your own account before relying on a custom mobile width; do not assume Free or Silver accepts arbitrary dimensions.

Build an Embed API request
- Obtain the Embed API key and secret from your Thumbalizr account.
- Set
bwidthandbheightto the browser viewport dimensions supported by your plan. - Set
sizetoscreenorpageaccording to the capture area you need. - URL-encode the target URL and parameter values, then construct the Embed API URL and token using the secret as documented by Thumbalizr.
- Read the response headers to determine whether the capture completed or failed.
The API documentation describes the Embed API URL and token process, but the available documentation here does not provide a single reusable request example that can safely be reproduced without the account-specific key, secret, and token-generation details. Follow the current API instructions rather than guessing a signing format.
Read the response status and recover from failures
Thumbalizr documents X-Thumbalizr-Status values QUEUED, OK, and FAILED. The X-Thumbalizr-Error header supplies a failure reason.
