What to check before using ShrinkTheWeb
ShrinkTheWeb is described in Drupal documentation as a service that generates webpage thumbnails for display in Drupal. Its official homepage currently shows the notice “Shrink The Web is Relaunching Soon!” without a confirmed relaunch date or operational-status details. That notice alone does not establish that the service is down, so check your account and test an actual capture before integrating it into a production workflow.

The Drupal 8 setup guide was last updated on 4 March 2019. Treat it as a description of the integration’s documented behavior, not confirmation that its module, endpoints, credentials, or account settings remain available. The guide identifies Drupal 7 as unsupported.
How to try a Hindi-page capture
1. Check the page in a browser
Open the exact Hindi page you intend to capture. Confirm that the Devanagari text and any important page content appear correctly. Note whether the page relies on content that loads after the initial display, such as web fonts or dynamically added text.

2. Verify the ShrinkTheWeb account and service
Sign in and check that your account can still request a capture. Test a representative page and confirm that an image is actually returned before building an automated workflow around the service. The homepage’s relaunch notice provides no confirmed date or assurance of current capture availability.
3. If using Drupal, treat the guide as historical
The Drupal 8 guide describes enabling the ShrinkTheWeb module, entering account credentials and secret keys, configuring a local thumbnail cache, and passing a page URL through a field formatter or render integration. Do not assume those steps match a currently available module or service; first confirm they work with your Drupal installation and account.
4. Choose what part of the page to capture
The guide documents custom width, full-length capture, crop height, and browser viewport dimensions. A viewport capture shows the visible region, while a full-length capture is intended to include a taller page in one image. Choose dimensions and capture length based on the content readers need; a very tall image can be difficult to inspect or display.

5. Allow for loading, then inspect the image
The guide lists a delay after page load. If the page uses delayed content or web fonts, allow sufficient time before capture where the integration permits it, then inspect the returned image at a readable size. The guide also documents image quality settings. It does not specify a Hindi-language option or promise Devanagari font support.
Why Hindi text may look wrong in a screenshot
A screenshot reflects what the browser-rendering environment displayed at capture time. If Devanagari appears as empty boxes, missing characters, or broken conjuncts, check whether the source page’s fonts loaded in the browser and whether the capture happened after the page finished rendering. Then test the same representative URL again after confirming that ShrinkTheWeb is accepting requests.
The available ShrinkTheWeb documentation does not establish language-specific font support, and a delay alone cannot guarantee correct Hindi rendering. Verify the actual output for the pages and fonts you need rather than assuming a successful request means the text is legible.

When evaluating a hosted screenshot service for Hindi pages, check whether it accepts the target URL, offers the viewport or full-page output you need, provides controls for waiting for page content, and gives you a way to test the actual image’s Devanagari legibility. A service’s language or font controls are useful to investigate, but they do not replace checking the capture.
