How to Capture Google SERP Screenshots from Delhi for Local SEO Research

A practical workflow for capturing Google Search results under a Delhi location condition, checking the context Google reports, and documenting each screenshot for local SEO research.

To capture a Google results page under a Delhi location condition, use Chrome DevTools to emulate a relevant location, search the exact query, check Google’s own location explanation when it appears, and save the screenshot with the conditions recorded. This controls one input to the search; it does not guarantee that Google will show every Delhi searcher the same results.

What a Delhi-localized SERP screenshot can—and cannot—show

A screenshot is evidence of what appeared for one query, at one time, in one browser context. Google may estimate your location using device location, your internet address, account home or work information, and previous activity. Its results can also vary with language, device type, recent searches, and personalization. Google’s location controls are being updated, so the exact Search interface may differ from the help instructions.

Chrome DevTools can emulate a browser location, but the documentation does not say that this overrides Google’s IP, account, or previous-activity signals. Treat the override as a controlled capture condition—not proof that the result set is representative of all of Delhi or even confirmed as Delhi-localized. When Google explains how it estimated your location on the results page, record that explanation.

Google describes the principle simply: “Location: If you search pizza in a particular city, you get results relevant to that location.” (Google Search Help)

Prepare a reproducible capture

Choose the search and location scope

Write down the exact query before searching. For local intent, decide whether it should name Delhi generally or a particular locality. Delhi is large; a single coordinate is not a substitute for testing distinct neighborhoods when neighborhood-level variation matters. Choose coordinates for the area relevant to your question using a reliable map source, and record what area the point represents.

Google recommends including a place in a search when you want results relevant to that location. For example, compare a query with no place name to the same query with “Delhi” or a named locality, but keep them as separate queries in your notes.

Record the conditions

  • Exact query and whether it includes a place name.
  • Capture date and time, including timezone.
  • Chosen location coordinates and the area they represent.
  • Device type or browser viewport, and language.
  • Whether the browser is signed in and any relevant personalization state.
  • Google’s displayed explanation of how it estimated location, when available.

These details make later comparisons interpretable; they do not make a result universally reproducible. Google notes that location, language, device, recent searches, and personalization can affect what different people see. (Google Search Help)

Set a custom Delhi location in Chrome DevTools

Chrome DevTools supports custom location presets defined with coordinates, timezone, and locale. The exact interface can change; the Chrome documentation describes the custom-preset workflow. (Chrome DevTools: Locations)

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to a page where you can open DevTools.
  2. Open DevTools, then open the Command Menu and search for Show Sensors. You can also open the DevTools menu and choose More tools > Sensors when that path is available.
  3. In the Sensors panel, open the Location control and choose the option to manage or add a custom location preset.
  4. Enter the latitude and longitude for the specific Delhi area you selected, along with an appropriate timezone and locale. Use coordinates from a reliable map source rather than assuming one city-center coordinate covers Delhi.
  5. Save the preset, then select it in the Sensors panel’s Location control.

The preset changes the browser’s emulated geolocation input. It does not change your network IP address or establish that Google used the emulated location to form the page.

Run the search, verify the context, and capture the page

  1. With the custom preset selected, open Google Search and submit the exact query you documented. If you are investigating a locality, include that locality in the query as a separate, explicit condition.
  2. Inspect the results page for Google’s location explanation, if shown. Note whether it attributes the location to the device, internet address, or account/place context. If it does not support the intended Delhi condition, label the image as an attempted emulation rather than a confirmed Delhi-localized result.
  3. Capture the visible page using your usual screenshot method. Include the query and enough of the page to show the organic results, local pack, and other SERP features relevant to your question.
  4. Name or annotate the capture with the query, date and time with timezone, viewport or device, language, location method, and relevant account state.

Google’s location controls and results-page labels can change. If the interface does not match these steps, use the current Chrome Sensors controls and the explanation actually shown by Google; do not infer a location from the screenshot alone.

Compare captures without overclaiming

If your question is whether results differ by context, capture separate observations and change one factor at a time where practical. Keep query, time window, language, viewport, and account state stable while comparing locations; then repeat with different device or query conditions if those are part of the question.

Comparison axis How to use it What to record
Location granularity Compare Delhi-wide intent with named localities when relevant. Coordinates and the area each point represents.
Device or viewport Capture separate desktop and mobile conditions rather than treating them as identical. Device type or viewport dimensions.
Language Hold language constant for a location comparison; vary it only when studying language effects. Browser or Search language used.
Account and personalization Keep the sign-in state consistent where possible; label changes in state. Signed-in status and relevant personalization context.
Time Use a consistent capture window for a controlled comparison, or explicitly study change over time. Timestamp and timezone.

Compare the same visible features across screenshots—for example, whether a local pack appears and its ordering, organic results, and other SERP features. A small set of captures can describe those observations; it cannot isolate Google’s full ranking system or establish a stable rank for every searcher in Delhi.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API and MCP server. A plain screenshot request does not itself establish a Delhi location: the browser-emulation workflow above is still the method for setting that capture condition. ScreenshotNeo can simplify the capture step after the page and conditions are ready.

For details on request options, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.google.com/search?q=coffee+shop+Delhi -o shot.webp

Before capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response includes X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. See ScreenshotNeo for the service details, or sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.

Troubleshooting

The screenshot does not look localized to Delhi

Check that the custom preset is selected in Sensors, then inspect Google’s location explanation on the results page. Google can use signals beyond browser geolocation, including IP, account information, and previous activity. If the explanation does not support the intended condition, record that uncertainty instead of presenting the capture as confirmed Delhi results.

The DevTools controls are missing or named differently

Open the DevTools Command Menu and search for Show Sensors, or look under More tools. Chrome’s documentation is the reference for custom presets; labels and interface details may change over time. (Chrome DevTools: Locations)

Two captures disagree

First compare query wording, timestamp, viewport, language, signed-in state, location point, and Google’s location explanation. Any of these may differ or affect the results. Record the mismatch and recapture under matched conditions if the comparison requires it.

A Google Maps link or location parameter seems relevant

Google Maps URL parameters control Maps search and display behavior; they are not documented controls for localizing a Google Search results page. Do not use a Maps URL as evidence that a Search SERP was localized. (Google Maps URLs: Get Started)

Cost and reliability considerations

Manual Chrome captures avoid the need to automate a browser, but their interpretability depends on recording context and checking Google’s location explanation. A screenshot tool or API can reduce capture effort, but it does not by itself guarantee Google used a particular location signal or make a SERP a universal ranking report. For repeated monitoring, use consistent conditions and keep dated records; distinguish observed changes from conclusions about why rankings changed.

Google’s own explanation of location’s role is useful context, but a single screenshot remains an observation from a specific search session. (Google: The role of location in Search)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I see Google search results from Delhi?

Search for your query with “Delhi” or the relevant locality, and treat the results as location-relevant rather than as proof of what every Delhi user sees. For a controlled browser capture, use Chrome DevTools’ custom location preset and check Google’s location explanation.

Does Chrome DevTools geolocation change my IP address?

No. It emulates a browser location input; it does not change your network IP address.

Can a Delhi SERP screenshot prove my site’s rank in Delhi?

No. It records one result page under stated conditions, not a stable rank for all users or locations in Delhi.
