Use the method that matches the part of Google you need: Chrome on a computer can save the visible viewport, a selected region, or the entire results page; Android 12 and later often offers a scrolling “Capture more” screenshot; and Safari on iPhone can save a webpage with its Full Page option. The steps below preserve the actual Search page rather than recreating or editing results.
Choose the right capture scope first
A Google results page can be captured in three useful ways:
- Visible viewport: only what is currently on screen. Use this for a quick citation or a single result.
- Selected area: a dragged rectangle containing a heading, answer box, or group of results.
- Full page: the page from top to bottom, including results below the initial viewport.
Full-page images can become very tall and harder to read. If your audience needs one result, a viewport or area capture is usually clearer; if they need the complete layout, choose full page.
Desktop Chrome: visible, selected, or full-page screenshot
Capture the visible Search viewport
- Open the Google Search results you want in Chrome.
- Open DevTools by choosing Chrome’s menu, then More tools and Developer tools (or use your operating system’s DevTools shortcut).
- Turn on Device Mode if you want to set a particular simulated phone or desktop viewport.
- Open the DevTools More options menu and choose Capture screenshot.
- Save the downloaded image and check that the query, result titles, and any location or personalization details are what you intended to share.
The capture represents the viewport currently shown in DevTools. Changing the emulated device, width, height, or device pixel ratio changes the resulting image.

Note: For capture use only; requires capture software to function and is not intended for direct screen casting to a monitor or TV

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Capture the entire page
- Keep the Search results open and DevTools active.
- Enable Device Mode when you need a controlled viewport size.
- Open More options.
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot.
- Wait for the image to download, then open it to verify that content below the fold was included.
A full-size capture includes content outside the visible viewport. Google may load additional results, images, or sponsored modules as you scroll or as the page finishes loading, so allow the page to settle before capturing.
Capture only a selected region
- Open DevTools and leave it docked to the browser window. The documented area workflow does not work when DevTools is undocked.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu.
- Run the command Capture area screenshot.
- Drag over the part of the Search page you want.
- Release the pointer and save the generated image.
This is useful when a full-page image would expose unrelated queries, account information, or a long list of results.
When Chrome captures the wrong content
- Blank or incomplete image: wait for the results page and images to finish loading, then repeat the capture.
- Unexpected mobile layout: turn Device Mode off, or choose the intended emulated device and viewport before capturing.
- Area command unavailable: dock DevTools and run the command again.
- Text looks too small: capture a narrower area, increase the viewport scale, or provide the original page link alongside the image.
Android: take a standard or scrolling screenshot
Standard screenshot
- Open the Google results page in your browser or Search app.
- Press Power and Volume Down together.
- Use the preview controls to crop, annotate, or share the image.
Button behavior can vary by manufacturer. If that shortcut does not work, follow the screenshot instructions supplied for your phone model.
Extend it with Capture more
On Android 12 and later, most screens that allow scrolling support an option named Capture more after the initial screenshot.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Take the screenshot with Power + Volume Down.
- Tap Capture more in the screenshot preview.
- Move the capture bounds to include the required results.
- Tap the save or confirm control.
This feature is device- and screen-dependent, so it may not appear on every phone, browser, or app. If the control is missing, use several standard screenshots or the phone maker’s documented scrolling-capture feature.
iPhone: use Safari’s Full Page option
- Open the Google results in Safari.
- Take a screenshot using your iPhone’s side-button and volume-up shortcut (or the shortcut appropriate to your model).
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail before it disappears.
- Choose Full Page at the top of the editor.
- Review the page preview, crop if needed, and save or share it.
Apple’s Full Page workflow is documented for webpages in Safari. It is not a promise that the same option works in every browser, the Google Search app, or every in-app web view. If Full Page is unavailable, save a normal screenshot or open the results in Safari and try again.
Make the screenshot accurate and safe to share
Preserve context
- Include the search query and enough of the page to identify what was captured.
- Record the date, country, language, and signed-in state when those details matter; Google results can vary with location, personalization, and time.
- Do not imply that a screenshot is a permanent ranking. Results can change after the image is made.
Protect private information
- Check the address bar, account avatar, email suggestions, notifications, and autofill text before publishing.
- Crop or redact personal data in an editor, but do not alter result titles, snippets, or interface elements in a way that manufactures a result.
- For reproducibility, share the original Search URL or query separately when appropriate.
Google’s presentation guidance
Google’s Search guidelines say you do not need to ask permission to use screenshots of Google Search and results pages in print for educational or instructional purposes. The same guidance says Search should be shown positively or neutrally and that its interface, suggestions, and results should not be altered or manufactured. Treat that as limited guidance for the stated print, educational or instructional context, not blanket permission for every commercial, advertising, or online use. For other uses, review the terms and obtain advice appropriate to your situation.

Reliability, speed, and cost considerations
For occasional, manual captures
Use the built-in desktop, Android, or iPhone workflow. It has no service cost and lets you inspect the exact page before saving, but it requires a person, a particular device, and a current browser state.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
For recurring or large batches
An API is easier to reproduce and schedule. Keep a stable viewport and user agent, specify waits for dynamic content, and choose full page only when the extra height is needed. Cache a page when an unchanged image is acceptable; otherwise choose a cache TTL that matches how often the results must be refreshed. Search pages can vary by location, language, personalization, consent state, and time, so record those settings with the image.
Handle failures explicitly
- Bot check or CAPTCHA: do not attempt to bypass it; treat the result as unavailable and investigate authorized access.
- Timeout or blank page: increase the wait or timeout, verify the URL, and inspect the returned verdict and billing headers.
- Missing lazy content: use a full-page capture and a selector, delay, or network-idle wait so content has time to load.
- Popup or consent overlay remains: confirm the relevant cleanup option is enabled, or hide the specific selector with custom CSS.
- Wrong geography or language: set the request’s timezone, geolocation, headers, cookies, or user agent consistently.

Can I capture a Google results page from the Search app on iPhone?
A guaranteed Full Page workflow is documented for webpages in Safari. If the Search app does not offer Full Page, use a standard screenshot or open the query in Safari.
Why is my full-page image extremely tall?
A full-page capture includes content beyond the viewport. Capture a selected area or visible viewport when readers need only a small portion.
